TOURNAMENT of CHAMPIONS Here's how I'm running my tournament: Each matchup in the opening round and quarterfinal round will be decided in a Best of Three series... Fatigue token counts will be reset after each fall since this is not a Best of 3 Falls match, but an actual series of contests between the two competitors... Each matchup in the semifinal round will be decided in a Best of Five series and the final will be decided in a Best of Seven series. There will be no outside interference... If a contest ends via DQ or count-out, the remaining contests between those two competitors will be Titan Death. Matchups for the opening round are random face vs. heel pairings: Endgame vs. The Basilisk Hector vs. Chaos Matador of M83 vs. Mandrill Orrus the Unstoppable vs. Thunder Max Shield vs. Aethran Overmaster Monolith vs. Sly Drury Wolf vs. Godsend Star Warrior vs. Thantos Let the games begin! BOOM!

A few notes and observations:
- Six of eight competitors managed to sweep their opening round opponent. One of two exceptions - Thunder actually would have been eliminated in the opening round if this were a standard tournament... That down-3 on his Level 2 Defense was really hurting him against Orrus, who's Level 3 Offense is pretty effective.
- The only match that ended on a roll of snake eyes was the final encounter of the round between Star Warrior and Thantos... I was good with either of them advancing to face Wolf (shades of 2087) and the flash finish was actually pretty exciting... Also thought it was cool that Star Warrior used a move made famous by his father to end the match.
- Hector is going to have a tough time against anyone in this particular field, having three down-3 entries on his Level 3 Defense... He managed to land some solid offense against Chaos early in their first encounter, but got throttled as soon as Chaos gained the advantage.
- The first encounter between Overmaster and Max Shield was the most grueling match (9 tokens total - which is pretty wild for any match that does not involve The Basilisk - HA!)... And Monolith vs. Sly Drury was probably my favorite opening round match overall... The animosity between these two will never die, even when they happen to be busy feuding with other competitors.
- One remark regarding artwork - I have to admit that I've never been a fan of Mueck's Overmaster... Much prefer the one by Banks... Otherwise, everything looks superb! I will be using Matador and Thunder when I reboot my GWF New Beginning fed.
Here are the quarterfinal matchups:
Endgame vs. Chaos
Matador of M83 vs. Thunder
Aethran Overmaster vs. Monolith
Wolf vs. Star Warrior

Only two went to three falls. Interesting. Can't wait to see who wins. I thought it was really interesting that I could have played that round like a standard 'one fall to a finish' tournament and the results would've pretty much been the same... Only Thunder benefited from the Best of Three series format... Oh, snap!
