I have been looking for when ABC was going to show It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown this year. Yesterday I checked the schedule on my cable till Halloween and it was not shown. Official word came out today that ABC is not showing it. Instead it will be streaming on AppleTV+. Now I own it on DVD so I can watch it but it is like a tradition watching it on TV. This is a bad $ grab. It has been on TV every year since it came out in the 60's. While it is not a huge draw from what I have seen and read it was always a decent draw each year. This just bites. And not how Snoopy and Lucy bite the apple in the bobbing for apples game. Damn now when I see that scene and the apple I will probably think of Apple. Grr.

It gets worse. Word is AppleTV+ bought the rites to all the Peanut holiday specials. So not only no Pumpkin or Thanksgiving special on TV this year there will be no Charlie Brown Christmas. To quote the great Charlie Brown, UGH!!!

Bumping this to let people know, if interested, that Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will be on PBS this Sunday.
The radio DJ I heard this from does not understand the situation. She said, "remember last year when they cancelled the Charlie Brown specials". Um, no. They did not cancel them. Just moved them from free TV to a paid streaming service. Also after the outcry they put the Christmas special, maybe the Thanksgiving one too, on PBS then. While it is nice that it is commercial free I am weird in that I actually like the commercials during the specials as that is how I always viewed them. Still got the McDonald ones the last few years but miss the Dolly Madison ones.

I just get the DVD from the library but it's nice people have a free option.
