SCW TV #1: The Junction — San Antonio, TX
In the opening match of SCW TV #1, Mr. Hughes beats Hugh Morrus with a power bomb and quick cover. Clearly upset with his own errors, Morrus claims he will come back from this loss. Hughes, smirking, walks away with the first win in the new era of Southwestern Championship Wrestling.
In the ring, Joe Blanchard is standing with microphone in hand. He welcomes the studio audience and those watching at home on USA Network. Blanchard tells the fans that they are in for a solid night of wrestling action. He ends by announcing that "Cowboy" Scott Casey, the SCW World Champion, will be defending his title tonight against one of the best wrestlers in the world!
Ox Baker defeats 2 Cold Scorpio w/ Marcus Alexander Bagwell with the HEART PUNCH. Scorpio puts up a good fight, but Baker hits his devastating finisher three times in a row. Luckily, Scorpio is able to walk to the back on his own.
Backstage, the Fantastics cut a promo on the SCW World Tag Team Champions, the Sheepherders. Fulton and Rogers say they are coming after the gold. As expected, Butch and Luke attack and a brawl takes place.
Doug Gilbert w/ Tommy Gilbert shocks everyone when he beats King Kong Bundy. However, it was with the help of Tommy Gilbert passing him a foreign object. The fans, fervently against Bundy, have no problem cheering for Gilbert as he comes out on top. After the match, Doug Gilbert claims he should be in line for a title shot after beating such a massive competitor. The fans erupt when the SCW World Television Champion, Tiger Conway, Jr., walks out and says he can "come get some" next week.
In the first tag team match of the new SCW era, the Flying Redheads defeat the Texas Hangmen via submission when Billy Red Lyons applies the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK on Killer. Bastien and Lyons, though agile, struggle to fight off the strength of Psycho and Killer throughout the match; however, the Redheads go to the mat and find a way to gain the advantage.
In the ring, "Cowboy" Scott Casey meets Joe Blanchard. Casey, with the SCW World Title around his waist, questions who his opponent will be. Blanchard takes the belt, holds it up, and then points to himself. The fans explode when Blanchard strikes Casey in the face with the belt.
SCW World Championship: Joe Blanchard defeats "Cowboy" Scott Casey to become the new SCW World Champion. After the shocking attack, Casey recovers and comes back with a vengeance. After a back and forth brawl, in and out of the ring, Blanchard uses an airplane spin and then drops the champion on the title belt for the pinfall. In the end, Tully Blanchard runs down and celebrates with this father. The fans are shocked and don't know how to respond, but the new champ doesn't seem to care about the fans' displeasure.

Nice to see Joe Blanchard grabbing the gold and I enjoy both Conways so looking forward to the match against Gilbert.

I wanted to do this after reading up on and watching Southwest Championship Wrestling that Joe Blanchard ran. Eventually, I'll bring in various cards from Legends, but I'm trying to keep it semi-accurate for the time being. I'm glad you guys like it.

This is a great idea for a fed Dustin. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Southwest has long been a favorite territory of mine and you did a nice job with capturing the feel of it on the first show. Plus a heel Joe and Tully Blanchard combo sounds awesome.

In the ring, Joe and Tully Blanchard are welcomed by jeers. Joe tells the fans that what he did to Scott Casey was best for business. "Cowboy" comes out and Tully steps up and tells the former champ to "step aside." Casey steps right into Tully's face, and an impromptu match is underway.
"Cowboy" Scott Casey defeats Tully Blanchard w/ Joe Blanchard via disqualification when Casey is attacked by Joe Blanchard outside of the ring. After beating down the former champion, Joe tells Casey that he'll get a shot at the SCW World Championship if he can beat the Blanchards' recently hired bodyguard next week at SCW TV #3! It is unknown just who that bodyguard is.
"The Patriot" Del Wilkes defeats "Sodbuster" Kenny Jay via UNCLE SLAM.
The Fantastics defeat the Long Riders when "Wild" Bill Irwin is crushed by the PRESS SLAM/SPLASH by Fulton and Rogers. After the match, the Fantastics tell Butch Miller and Luke Williams, the SCW World Tag Team Champions, that they want them next week for the gold straps. The Sheepherders run in and a wild brawl explodes!
Ox Baker defeats George South with the HEART PUNCH. Shockingly, George South puts up a strong fight. Baker figures he has this match in the bag, but a couple of neckbreaker drops and knee drops from South sends Baker to the outside to refocus his plan of attack.
SCW World Television Championship: In the best match of the new era of SCW, Doug Gilbert w/ Tommy Gilbert defeats a bloody Tiger Conway, Jr. w/ Tiger Conway, Sr. with the PILEDRIVER to become the new SCW World Television Champion. Both competitors put it all on the line, but after Gilbert uses a foreign object, the match turns wild with Tiger Conway, Sr. and Tommy Gilbert getting involved. In the end, all four men brawl as the show goes off the air. |
