Hey there!
First, the backstory...
I had a bunch of these sets in the mid-90's. Life got in the way, so my time and interest faded. Then, the box with all my sets was destroyed in a flood.
I am considering getting back into the CotG side. However, there is SOOOOO much that it is almost overwhelming. Alternate promotions and "Best Of" sets and what-not. Whew!
Where would be a good place to start again? I see several starter sets, but the closest to "current" storyline years is about 10 sets back at 2125, right? Is that my best jump on point? Or am I better off backtracking a bit earlier? Or is there going to be another new "Starter" set soon that may serve my purpose? I don't NEED to buy something right now. I'd rather get a good feel for what the community thinks and base my decision on some research and fact-finding among those who are deeply involved.
On that front, I also don't plan on spending a boatload up front. Maybe 2 or 3 sets. And, no, I don't really want a "Best of" or "Legends" or even the new commemorative set. If I do start back into it, I want the sets that are part of the developing and on-going story, not some "one offs".
Lastly, not sure if this is something permitted, but if there is anyone looking to part with sets that may work toward my end until I go "All in" with the newest stuff, feel free to drop me a message.
Thanks to everyone in advance for their feedback, perspective, and opinions!

Thanks to everyone in advance for their feedback, perspective, and opinions! first, welcome back! I just started my current COTG fed in 2136, but I also needed from several previous sets cards of wrestlers who are still currently active in 2136. If you are only looking to order 1-3 sets to start, as you said in your message, you may want to start with 2125.

Pick a starting point and go with it. IF you wait to be reasonably current, take the 2125 suggestion, that's where the color cards start. You don't need everything. Get that set and give it a go. Or maybe start with 2119 and go from there. Or go retro and get the original set in color and start over. You can't go wrong.

I think this is the best advice you could go with and I would go with 2125. That will get you playing close to the current edition...and I would also get the original edition in color to play those years and build up to the current year. Basically, you'd be playing two feds to get the best of both time frames.
