With a scheduled meeting at 8 pm, many of the dignitaries began to arrive around 730 to mingle, share a drink and talk about old times. Names like Bill Apter, Gordon, Solie, Jim Melby, George Napolitano, Mike Mooneyham, Scott Teal and others were greeted warmly and graciously by the evening’s host, Lance Russell.



Lance stepped up to the podium at 8 pm sharp and began to speak when a disturbance was heard at the back of the room. A voice claiming, “I, um, deserve, you know to, um, be here, yeah” was heard trying to come through the store, but was stopped by Commissioner Eddie Marllin. “Not today son,” said Marlin. “This is for guys that truly love the biz.”



Being the kind soul he is, Lance told Eddie, “We have some seats in the back Eddie. Just let him sit in and we’ll get the meeting started.” Marlin reluctantly stepped aside and allowed the man, Dave Meltzer, to take his seat in the back of the room. Marlin stood towards the back and kept a sharp eye on the “journalist”, an eye that told him to let the pros handle any questions. Meltzer quietly sat in the back and scribbled on his note pad, squirming and wiggling around, but, to his credit, didn’t make a sound



As the commotion ended, Lance stepped to the podium to welcome the journalists. “Most are probably wondering why we’ve called everyone here for this press conference. Truthfully, this announcement is so huge, so let me turn it over to the man who has organized something very special. Lets welcome Jerry Jarrett.”



Jarrett thanked everyone for coming and hoped the news would be well worth their time. “As most of you know, wrestling has changed and for the majority of us, for the worse. We prided ourselves with giving fans the most hard hitting action with the occasional comedy, but that was the exception not the norm. For today’s wrestling, that was flipped. The silliness is now the norm, while the serious part of wrestling, that we all enjoy,’ is the exception. We aim to change that. Over the years, we’ve seen various promotions start up in hopes of recapturing the “glory days” of the past, but they’ve all got caught up with the ga-ga. Tonight, we hope that changes. We are going to introduce the newest wrestling federation that will perfectly capture a certain “old school” style that fans can take pride in - the LWF (Legends Wrestling Federation).

Jarrett then announced a 39 man double elimination tournament to determine the first LWF Champion (Percy Pringle III declined to wrestle). He added a stern warning.



“We take this tournament seriously. We know managers and partners are a part of wrestling and interference happens in wrestling, but for this tournament, and the contract each wrestler signed, clearly says if there is any sort of interference during this tournament will result in a $25,000 fine and immediate suspension without pay. We want this inaugural champion to be determined who will be the best, and last man standing.”



Jarrett then fielded questions from the reporters.



“This seems like a fairly large roster,” said Bill Apter, “will there be any split or any new territories open up. You seem to imply that you want the LWF to be set up like a NWA type of territory system.”



“You’re absolutely correct,” answered Jarrett. “We are in constant negotiations with not only new wrestlers, but with different promoters to open a new territory in their region of the country. For now its strictly based in Memphis, but I guarantee within five years, the LWF will be a full blow NWA like territory.”



“For now there are only two female wrestlers signed. Will you be adding more females to the roster?” asked George Napolitano.



Jaretty answered it was another great question. “Our initial goal was to sign the best talent possible and we were able to sign two great womens wrestlers in Trish Stratus and Malia Hosaka. Will we sign more in the future? I can only say our goal is to sign the greatest wrestlers possible, in both the men and womens division.”





“This could be one of the greatest wrestling roster I’ve seen,” said noted historian Scott Teal, “but one glaring weakness, if you can call it that, is lack of tag teams. I grew up in the Tennessee territory and one of the staples was tag team wrestling. Will we be seeing additional tag teams added to the roster?”



“One hundred percent,” Jarretty stated, “I grew up with great tag team wrestling.. Thats one of the most glaring weakness in today’s wrestling, but the LWF will aim to rectify that. I will be in constant negotiations with any team that I feel can help this roster.”



Lance and Jarrett thanked everyone for attending the discussion and gave each reporter front row seats to the LWF Titlte tournament, which will take place over the next two months. “Our goal is for you to enjoy the product, but also to be honest. Don’t give us 7 stars because you are best buddies with one of the wrestlers. We want you to be honest. With that, enjoy the tournament. It’s going to be long, but with the double elimination format, no wrestler has an excuse. You have two chances to win the title, so bring your "A" game. With former World Champions like Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, Harley Race, Randy Savage and others in the tournament, you can’t take a night off.”

He added that in additional to the semifinals and finals of the winners tournament, Trish Stratus and Malia Hosaka will be competing in a best of three match series tonight to determine the first LWF Womens Champion

- March 13, 2017 - Memphis, TN


Lance Russell brought out Lou Thesz to open the program. Russell showed clips of the tournament finals and Thesz winning over Rogers. Thesz proudly admitted this was probably the toughest tournament in the history of wrestling and to come out on top was an incredible accomplishment. Thesz added he had an open contract on Eddie Marlin’s desk and said he’ll face any wrestler for the title


Rock Riddle came out and interrupted the interview saying he was now the spokesman for Buddy Rogers and before Thesz faces anyone, he owes Buddy Rogers a rematch if he’s man enough. Russell said Rogers has a match scheduled tonight against the Destroyer in tonights main event and he’s sure the winner will get a chance at the LWF Title.


Riddle said its Thesz backing down from a challenge, but Thesz said he has an open challenge to anyone. Thesz added he needs a warmup and made a challenge to Riddle. Riddle nervously laughed at the challenge and tried to make an excuse to get out of the challenge. Marlin came out with the contract and said the matchup sounded great. Riddle tried to protest, saying he was only coming out as a spokesman, but Marlin said the match was on.



1) Jimmy Snuka beat Bruiser Costa by DQ


Percy Pringle III came out to offer Snuka the chance of a lifetime by joining his Pringle Dynasty. Snuka initially turned it down, but Pringle told him he brought out some incentive and brought out Bruiser Brody. Brody said they’ve been opponents, but also partners and he prefers partners. Snuka told them he’s been the manager route and wanted to do things on his own. Pringle was irate, but Brody calmed him and told Snuka due to their time as partners, he’ll overlook tonight, but should know after tonight, they’ll meet up again and it may be as enemies.



Trish Stratus brought out Ron Hutchinson to thank him for his training and showed up the newly won LWF Womens Title. Malia Hosaka came out and laughed about Hutchinson training her and said if Hutchinson was the one training her, she’d have no problem winning the LWF Womens Title. Hosaka then brought out Rodney Mack to show her how easy it would be for someone to humiliate her trainer.



2) Rodney Mack pinned Ron Hutchinson following the BLACKOUT


Hosaka provided interference, which caused Stratus to run over and deck Hosaka, resulting in a brawl.



Bobby Heenan came out and introduced his new, and greatest, Heenan Family. Heenan first brought out Curt and Larry Hennig, then Ted DiBiase and then Harley Race. Heenan said he could mix and match any of these men as any of the four could be LWF Champion or tag champions.

Heenan then said Ted DiBiase was going to show the wrestling world how to give a wrestling clinic.



3) Ted DiBiase pinned Scott Casey after a second rope ax handle


DiBiase grabbed the mic and asked Rob Van Dam to come out. DiBiase said fans probably know the history between him and RVD and wanted to make him an offer. RVD interrupted and said he has no desire to join the Heenan Family. DiBiase and Heenan looked at each other and laughed and told RVD they were looking for a chauffeur. RVD smirked and gave Heenan a spin kick, sending him over the ropes. DiBiase quickly fled and helped Heenan to the back.



4) The Road Warriors beat Bill White & Frank Dalton when Animal pinned White with a roll up


The Road Warriors said they’ve already petitioned to Jerry Jarrett to bring in tag titles to the LWF, but until then, it doesn’t matter if its any team Heenan can put together, Shiek and Volkoff or anyone, just meet them in the ring because they want to bust heads.



5) Bruiser Brody pinned Jim Duggan following the JUMPING KNEE DROP


Brody held Duggan as Pringle slapped him, but Snuka ran in to drive them off. Brody had a staredown with Snuka, but Pringle said there would be another time.

Lance brought out Randy Savage. Savage said it was disappointing not to win, but he’s a top contender and will get his shot. Just then Bobby Heenan came out and interrupted him. Heenan called him the best pure athlete in the LWF and the Heenan Family actually thought about asking him to join, but eventually vetoed the idea calling him unstable. Savage asked if he came all the way to the ring to tell him that. When Heenan answered yes, Savage smacked him. This brought out Larry Hennig, with Heenan challenging Savage by facing the Family’s enforcer.



6) Randy Savage pinned Larry Hennig after a vaulting neck snap


Bobby Heenan ran in to berate Savage, but Savage grabbed him and decked him. Race, Curt Hennig and DiBiase ran in to try and attack Savage, but Savage ran thru the crowd.


Greg Valentine came to the ring and introduced his new manager - Lou Albano. Albano claimed Valentine was the one man overlooked who should have been a World Champ, but that will change now that he’s managing him.



7) Greg Valentine beat Marty Jannetty with the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK



After the match, Valentine kept the hold on until Brutus Beefcake ran in. Beefcake claimed he thought he and Valentine were going to team up and make a run at the tag titles. Valentine and Albano laughed at the notion, causing Beefcake a no talent brown noser and attacked him. Jannetty, recovering from the effects of the figure four, recovered and helped drive them away



9) In a non title match, LWF Champion Lou Thesz pinned Rock Riddle following the GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP



Buddy Rogers confronted Thesz saying he’ll beat Destroyer tonight and he better be prepared because he wants his shot at the LWF Title.



10) Shawn Daivari beat Rob Van Dam by disqualification after the Van Daminator.



Ted DiBiase came down and pointed out the chair used in the Van Daminator. The ref reversed the decision, much to the dismay of RVD. As DiBiase gloated, RVD threw him the chair and as DiBiase caught it, RVD gave him the Van Daminator.



12) Pampero Firpo pinned Scotty 2 Hotty with the EL GARFIO



Bobby Heenan and Curt Hennig came to the ring. Heenan said in addition to Savage, one more thorn in his side has always been Bobo Brazil. Curt assured him he’d take out Brazil for him tonight.


13) Curt Hennig pinned Bobo Brazil with the PERFECT PLEX



Bobby Heenan jumped on the apron to provide the distract, which allowed Curt to clip Bobo’s knee and leading to an easy pin



14) Brutus Beefcake pinned Lenny Lane following a clothesline



Beefcake was angered at the attack by Valentine. Beefcake said Valentine assured him they would make a run at any tag titles, but he threw it out of the window by associating with Albano. Beefcake vowed revenge against Valentine



Bobby Heenan brought out Harley Race and said he’s shown tonight that the Heenan Family will be the most dominant force in the LWF. Dallas Page came out and told them he took it upon himself to make himself a leader against the nWo and he’ll take it upon himself to make himself a leader against groups like the Heenan Family



Curt Hennig came out and told Dallas Page they go way back and they both helped themself tremendously in their careers, so, as a friend, he’s asking him to step back, take up another cause or practice some yoga because if he doesn’t, it may not end well. Page then gave Curt the Diamond Cutter. Race then went on the attack and jumped Page.



15) Harley Race pinned Dallas Page after the PILEDRIVER.



As Heenan distracted the ref, Curt ran in and helped Race give Page a spike piledriver



16) Buddy Rogers beat The Destroyer with the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE



Gorgeous George appeared at ringside and shouted an insult at Destroyer and as Destroyer yelled back, George sprayed him in the eyes with his atomizer, leaving him to be easy prey for Rogers. Riddle then invited George in and raised the hands of Rogers and George.

Lance Russell brought out Lou Thesz to talk about his first ever LWF Title defense against Buddy Rogers. Thesz said he doesn’t have much respect for Rogers personally, but he is a formidable competitor, having already faced him three times (Thesz was up 2-1).



Rock Riddle then brought out his new stable of Buddy Rogers and Gorgeous George. Riddle claimed either man could be either singles or tag champions, whatever they decide what to do. George then laughed about costing Destroyer a potential LWF Title shot. Just then Destroyer ran out and attacked George until several wrestlers ran out to break up the melee.






1) Curt & Larry Hennig beat Chaz & Tugboat Taylor when Curt pinned Chaz following a missed turnbuckle charge (and feet on the ropes)

Lance interviewed Bobby Heenan and The Hennigs. Heenan claimed the Hennigs will prove to be the most versatile members of the Heenan Family, excelling in singles or tag action. As Heenan continued to rant, Dallas Page ran through the crowd. Page tapped Larry Hennig on the shoulder and gave him the DIAMOND CUTTER. Curt and Heenan were irate at the sneak attack.





2) Jimmy Snuka pinned Frank Dalton with the SUPERFLY LEAP



Percy Pringle III and Bruiser Brody again came out. Pringle told Snuka he didn’t like to be turned down, but Brody tried to convince him to give you one more chance to join the Pringle Dynasty. Snuka again turned him down and Brody told him the next time they meet, it’ll be as enemies. He thought they could rule the tag scene, but tonight, they’ll go their own way.



As Snuka walked to the back, Pampero Firpo attacked him, giving him the EL GARFIO.

Malia Hosaka came out and laughed about Rodney Mack destroying Trish Stratus’ trainer Ron Hutchinson. Hosaka said if Hutchinson is the best trainer Stratus could find, she’ll have no issue winning the LWF Womens Title.



3) LWF Womens Champion Trish Stratus pinned Malia Hosaka after STRATUSFACTION



Rodney Mack came in and stood behind her, grabbing her hair which allowed Hosaka to smack her. Ron Hutchinson came in to help and as he tended to Stratus, Mack ran in and gave Hutchinson the BLACKOUT.





4) Bobo Brazil beat Bruiser Costa with a bear hug



Russell interviewed Brazil, with Brazil saying Heenan has always been a thorn in his side and he has a dangerous group behind him. This brought out Randy Savage, Dallas Page and Rob Van Dam. All three said they have issues with the Heenan Family, but will make sure they have one another's back.





Brutus Beefcake came out and made a challenge to Greg Valentine. Lou Albano and Valentine came out with Albano stating they don’t have time to waste with him - they’re concentrating on things like wrestling for the LWF Title. As they turned, Beefcake delivered a flying knee to the back of Albano, sending him out of the ring. Beefcake then turned his attention to Valentine, effectively starting the match.



5) Greg Valentine pinned Brutus Beefcake with a rope pounce.




Albano held down Beefcake’s foot on the pin attempt, allowing Valentine to score an easy pin. Beefcake was irate, vowing revenge.




6) Jim Duggan pinned Bill White following the FLYING SPEAR




Duggan said Snuka is a friend of his and he doesn’t like sneak attacks and vowed revenge on the Pringle Dynasty.





Russell brought out the Destroyer. Destroyer said he’s always had an immense hatred for Gorgeous George and now that he cost him a potential shot at the LWF Title, he’s going to get revenge tonight.



George came out, saying he’s not in the mood to wrestle, that he has some appearance he’s in demand for. This brought out Eddie Marlin who stated if he’s in the building, is able to wrestle and the fans want to see it, then that wrestler will wrestle and since George fits the criteria, he’s stepping in the ring with Destroyer.





7) The Destroyer beat Gorgeous George with the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK



Rock Riddle ran in and attacked Destroyer. The two went for Destroyer’s mask and were able to remove it. Russell came over to put a towel over Destroyer’s head to conceal his identity





Shawn Daivari came out and said he’s seen all of these groups forming, but there is a group of them that other managers are overlooking. Daivari said he’s seen the talent in them and will lead them to championship gold. He introduced his stable consisting of Petey Williams, Sinn Bodhi and Lenny Lane.



Daivari added he’s heard The Road Warriors are chomping at the bit for a challenge and his group is here to accept it by saying he can put together any of the four of them to beat them. This obviously brought out the Road Warriors to answer the challenge.



8) The Road Warriors beat Lenny Lane & Petey Williams by disqualification when Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff attacked the Road Warriors



Daivari was incensed that Albano and his team ran in.





9) Bruiser Brody pinned Scotty 2 Hotty after the JUMPING KNEE DROP




Percy Pringle, with Brody and Firpo behind him, stated he has the two most dangerous men in the LWF in his stable. People saw what happened to Snuka earlier and if Jim Duggan wants the Snuka treatment they’ll be happy to oblige





10) Randy Savage pinned Sinn Bodhi following the FLYING ELBOW DROP



Bobby Heenan came out and told Savage it doesn’t matter what kind of ragtag group tries to challenge us, they’ll come out victorious. Harley Race then attacked Savage and gave him the Piledriver. He then gave him another on the floor before Brazil, Page and RVD ran in.



Heenan told them that's one down and three to go.

Lou Albano brought out the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff claiming they were the only two men tough enough to face, and take down, The Road Warriors.



11) Ron Hutchinson & Scott Casey beat Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff when Volkoff submitted to Hutchinson’s SHEDIAC LOBSTER TRAP



The Warriors fan in and clotheslined Sheik and then Volkoff, helping Hutchinson and Casey to the win. Albano was irate.





12) Marty Jannetty battled Pampero Firpo to a double disqualification.




Jim Duggan and Bruiser Brody became involved and the referee threw out the match





Dallas Page came out and made a challenge to any of Heenan’s Family to meet him in the ring. Ted DiBiase answered the challenge



13) Ted DiBiase beat Dallas Page by disqualification when Bobby Heenan threw in a foreign object, but Page intercepted it and nailed DiBiase, knocking him senseless.




14) LWF Champion Lou Thesz beat Buddy Rogers by disqualification when Rock Riddle interfered when Thesz had the stepover toehold facelock and had no chance to get to the ropes.


Rogers attacked Thesz and put on the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE, but Thesz was able to reverse the hold, putting the pressure on Rogers until Riddle was able to pull Rogers to safety

Bobby Heenan and the Heenan Family came to the ring bragging about taking out Randy Savage. Lance Russell chastised the group about injuring Savage and then showed a clip of Harley Race injuring Savage with a PILEDRIVER on the floor.


This brought out Bobo Brazil who said he’s going to be one that will stand up to Heenan and his Family and made a challenge to Race. Heenan told Brazil he is a pretty bold to come face to face with five of the most dangerous men in wrestling who can end his career right now, but he’s holding his men back to show the wrestling world how Harley Race will humiliate him.





Trish Stratus and Ron Hutchinson came out to discuss the lingering issue with Rodney Mack and Malia Hosaka and specifically Mack’s intimidation of Stratus and his attack on Hutchinson. Hutchinson then made a challenge to Mack, which caused Mack to come to the ring and laugh at the challenge, but accepted.

Stratus provided a distraction to Mack, which allowed Hutchinson to use the Kiwi Roll







2) Scott Casey pinned Frank Dalton with a powerslam





Russell brought out Destroyer and talked about his upcoming LWF Title shot against Lou Thesz on the next card. This brought out Shawn Daivari, who stated two of his men, Sinn Bodhi and Petey Williams, have matches against Destroyer and Lou Thesz that will earn them respect when they pick up the win.



Destroyer answered he knows anyone signed to the LWF is a tough competitor, but with a shot at the LWF Title on the line, Bodhi better be prepared to have the match of his life.






Rob Van Dam came out and said over the past few weeks, Ted DiBiase has been avoiding him, but wants a match with him tonight. This brought out Heenan and DiBiase who claimed if DiBiase can’t beat RVD, he’ll throw $50,000 to the fans.



3) Ted DiBiase defeated Rob Van Dam with a MILLION DOLLAR DREAM


The finish came when Heenan jumped on the apron and has RVD went over to hit him, Heenan was prepared and hit him with a foreign object, knocking RVD senseless and easy prey for DiBiase





Rock Riddle came out with Buddy Rogers and Gorgeous George, angered that neither of his men were granted a title shot tonight, even though he petitioned on their behalf to Eddie Marlin. Riddle added he’s going to have his men prepared to face anything and with talk of a tag tournament coming up, he’ll prepare them for singles or tag matches since titles equal money.



4) Buddy Rogers & Gorgeous George beat Chaz & Tugboat Taylor when George pinned Chaz after a double knee clip when the ref was trying to get Tugboat out of the ring



Jim Duggan came out for an interview with Lance and stated he was supposed to have a tag match with Jimmy Snuka against Bruiser Brody and Pampero Firpo, but unfortunately they injured Snuka. This brought out Marty Jannetty and said due to the previous card, he’ll gladly step in as Duggan’s partner to replace Snuka.

This brought out The Pringle Dynasty who laughed at Jannetty replacing Snuka. Pringle warned Jannetty he’s going to get the same fate that Snuka got.





Brutus Beefcake came out and said he can’t always watch Lou Albano at ringside, so he’s challenging him and Greg Valentine to a handicap match. Valentine and Albano laughed at the challenge and told Beefcake that was the worst decision he could make. Valentine added as dangerous as he is, Albano is twice as dangerous



5) Brutus Beefcake pinned Lou Albano after a noggin knocker on Albano and Valentine.


Valentine attacked Beefcake and locked him in the Figure Four as Albano delivered elbows to the chest. This brought out the Road Warriors to drive off Albano and Valentine. While out, the Warriors stated Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff are claiming they are the only team tough enough to face them, so let's see who the toughest is by challenging the foreign duo to a match tonight.





6) Scotty 2 Hotty pinned Bruiser Costa following THE WORM







7) The Destroyer defeated Sinn Bodhi with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK


Rock Riddle, Buddy Rogers and Gorgeous George came to the ring and began circling the ring, looking to attack Destroyer, but Lou Thesz came out to even things up. Riddle told his men this wasn’t the time and they trio left


Lou Thesz told Destroyer he isn’t looking for partners, but respects him as a competitor and despises guys like Rogers and George. Destroyer told him he feels the same. The two shook hands and left.

8) Curt Hennig defeated Bill White with a PERFECT PLEX


Curt and Larry Hennig, with Heenan, said they hope Dallas Page just saw what White got and told him he has time to back out of the match with Larry Hennig tonight to save him embarrassment.


This brought out Page who told the duo there’s no way he backs down from a challenge and then begged Heenan to get near the ring so he can give him the Diamond Cutter. Heenan claimed he has a permanent neck injury and Page is looking to end his career. Heenan told his men they need to take him out before Page can get to him. Curt and Larry assured Heenan there’s no way Page will get near him




9) The Road Warriors beat Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff when Hawk pinned Volkoff after the DOOMSDAY DEVICE


Lou Albano tried to interfere, but Brutus Beefcake ran to the ring and slugged Albano, allowing the Road Warriors to pick up the win.






10) Dallas Page defeated Larry Hennig with a Russian Leg Sweep



Heenan ran in and gave Page a low blow. Curt Hennig then came in and gave Page a PERFECT PLEX on a chair





11) In a non title match, LWF Champion Lou Thesz defeated Petey Williams with a THESZ PRESS






12) Bruiser Brody & Pampero Firpo beat Jim Duggan & Marty Jannetty when Brody pinned Jannetty following a sneak attack elbow by Firpo

13) Bobo Brazil beat Harley Race with a bear hug



Harley Race climbed to the top turnbuckle, looking to deliver a Diving Headbutt, but Randy Savage, in a neckbrace, ran thru the crowd and pushed Race off the turnbuckle onto the floor, landing flat on his back.


Bobby Heenan didn’t know what happened and was standing dumbfounded until Savage turned his attention to him. Savage then ran after Heenan, but Heenan ran to the back. Savage then threw Race back into the ring, leaving him easy prey for Brazil’s bearhug

Something amusing about the Road Warriors winning a match with a roll up. Is a mask vs hair match in the future for George/Destroyer? Lots of fun stuff happening here.

They've won matches, but actually have struggled putting guys away. But I guess a win is a win, lol
