Had a great time talking with Tom about 2137. We went card by card through the whole set and he even sent along some early concept art I hadn't seen. You can watch the full interview below! Spoilers for Tom's fed and a few tidbits for 2138.

Yeah really enjoyed the talk and Tom's inference that the biggest shock is coming in 2138 has to be around all this shaking and moving in the Gladiators. I'd wager that as Siege was built for both singles and tag was in the forefront of his design we see Overmaster exit and Siege take that spot and a new Aethran comes in to team with Fist, not unlike how Turmoil debuted as the tag specialist they bring in someone to be the specialist w/ Fist.

One thing grant brought up in his interview that I don’t think has been explored yet are GWF posters. Merged card posters like Tempest & Hyla. Bulldoze & Storm. I would buy the hell out of some COTG posters.

For those that use Flounch, do you let him interfere in matches as well as distract?

I just roll his distractor as I envision him as being pretty small so he wouldn't classify as outside/manager interference.
On the +side if he comes out w/ Catfight I let her roll distraction as well as her outside interference so Hyla gets would get 2 Distractions and 1 Interference if it came down to it. In my fed Flonch only comes out w/ Hyla and not Tempest as well.

Can’t say enough about both Tarval the Trapper and Tempest after Impossible Tournament 21 Bracket #2 last night, especially Tarval who finished 6-3 after double overtime to win the bracket.
Two incredibly talented rookies with very bright futures in the GWF. Tempest is more obvious - has leadership qualities coming out of his fins, but Tarval has been the biggest surprise this year. I see a future Epoch character here. A tough SOB but with so much more personality. It’s especially rewarding to have these two perform so well in the GFITG because in they were the two least interesting characters in the set for me at first. I just couldn’t picture either one or get a feel well enough for them. Rest of the set no problem (even Hyla) but for whatever reason I was drawing a blank on what these two would be like.
Anyways it’s always great to be surprised like that. Having characters who blow the roof off of your expectations. Happy to say Tarval prob wins my Rookie of the Year after that B2 win and Tempest prob gets the top runner up after that memorable fight card.
