I was wondering, for feuds, do you guys do matches where you don't actually roll them out but come up with a finish so it will further a storyline?
For example - I am planning on having Sherri Martel face Nora Greenwald on my first In Your House pay per view - I am thinking of having it go to a no contest and build towards a match at Wrestlemania [Which I will actually play out.]
In other words, are you strict in the sense where you roll out every single match and let that dictate the feud?
Just curious to hear what you guys say.

I definitely allow the dice to dictate the outcome of every match... That being said, I still come up with pre- and post-match segments to help further storylines... Also, I do have a system that sometimes results in a no contest - meaning that, for some reason, the match never officially got started... And when that happens, it's probably a safe bet that some kind of grudge match will come out of the ashes.

I have had maybe two or three matches that were scripted but the majority are rolled out. If I want a certain outcome there are ways to try and influence the match. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it does not. When it's the latter it's a wrench in my plans like an injury in the real world. Just tests my creativity to find a way to pivot. Sometimes something better comes out of it.

nope...I have always let the dice determine the outcomes and go from there. BUT if a match didn't come out like I thought it would, rematches always in play.

I have done straight angles where no match takes place but that doesn't involve dice. It's planned from the beginning.

When I ran my Royal Rumble I booked it so it could jump start some feuds heading into my next big PPV and I could give the winner a big win going into the title match. Other than that I let the dice decide.

I always roll out the matches, but like your idea.

I have written segments where there was supposed to be a match but it breaks down before the bell, and ones were they're going too long and boring me that I've called a draw, but nothing quite like that. What I do pretty often though is embellish chart results that end a match. So not every countout plays like the wording on the chart and not every wrestler interference goes the same way, as examples.

I nearly always roll the dice... But don't always except the results.

I always roll it out and if the outcome isn't quite what I was expecting because of the dread snake eyes or a roll of 3 I may have a 'holding the tights' or a feuding enemy came out and distracted the loser by just showing up, but NOT getting involved to cause the roll up pin even though I didn't roll on the outside interference chart.
This primarily adds triple threat matches into preexisting feuds if a 'warm up' match didn't go how I thought it would.
