Reinspired Filsinger Games Player

Hi all! I have been a Filsinger Games supporter and player since the early 90s. After several starts and stops between myself and the COTG starter set (2087), business picked up when on a whim I ordered all the Galactic Invasion sets. There were so many great characters and great stories, I just really had a blast running my GWF fed through 2090. From that point forward, I fluctuated from owning all of the GWF sets to none. Regardless, I had continued to follow Filsinger Games and its goings-on, and was excited for Legends of Wrestling once it was announced. I supported LOW pretty much from onset, and still have all my b&w sets. I was a day one adopter for COTG online and have pretty much kept up with my online sets for both COTG and LOW, which due to convenience is my preferred way to play (when I do play). While I would log on every now and again to play a few quick matches, or to check out and play test newly released cards; I never felt I had the time to play COTG/LOW steadily due to, as the kids say, “adulting.”



Big thank you to podcasts like Uncharted Territory and the Filsinger Games Fan Podcast that have really gotten my COTG/LOW interest and creative blood flowing. I absolutely love the podcasts, (which I am finally caught-up on), and I found this community searching for more….so here I am.



With my invigorated Filsinger Games interest, I am currently in the planning stage to run COTG and LOW feds, and dedicating weekly gameplay time for myself. With COTG, I am unsure if I want to start my GWF fed with the original 2087 starter set or the 2087 Reimagined set. I really loved playing with those original “Golden Age” cards, but I feel the Reimagined cards would give me enough character nostalgia, while also allowing me some new gameplay experiences. My LOW fed will definitely take me some more time to plan out, as there are just so many cards, and so many directions I can start from.


Oh well, I have lurked here since January, but I hope to now be a regular contributor and will see you all around the boards!

I agree on those podcasts. I look forward to Grant's one every Saturday morning. I never catch them live due to time zone but they are great.

Funny you mention the reimagined versus the originals. I am past the point where I could utilise the reimagined sets and wasn't prepared to lose 10-15 years of work with a reboot. But I still wanted to try the cards in some away. So whenever a reimagined set comes out I write a fed flashback section of a few cards. Play the old feuds out with these newer cards. Trying to use some of the special instructions mainly given on the manager cards. I make out these were dark shows but now the matches have been pulled out the archives. Usually Qualitar on hosting duties with a guest as they reminisce. I always ensure there are no title matches or mention of belts so as not to interfere with continuity.

So the big difference between the original sets and the new color reimagined stuff is that the stats on the new stuff has all been tweaked and fixed so all the cards meet the current guidelines.

When you compare the old stuff to the new stuff you’ll see a lot of inconsistencies and cards that break tons of rules. That’s been cleaned up with the new color 87-91 sets.
