As New Japan announced, the Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles will be unified and named the World Heavyweight Title with Kota Ibushi as the first champion.
Thoughts on this? I'm still processing the news as a belt historian.

It's no different than when they formed the Triple Crown in All Japan in 1989. I don't mind it, it gives them a new starting point and if we're being honest, the title should have had "World" added to it a long, long time ago.

And after the part about All Japan, it makes perfect sense. |
