Hello everyone! I am an old old school player of COTG...having bought my first game set (Invasion 2088 + the original game set) way back in 1988, just a couple months before Invasion 2089 was released. I was 11 at the time, and just about to turn 44. I played for years after my first purchase...I think the last set I had bought before stopping was Revolution 2096. After years of not playing and missing out on some incredible content, I got back into COTG back in 2007/2008, and being dedicated to the original characters, I had bought everything from 2087 to 2102. I understood what 2119 New Beginning was all about, but I wanted to experience the original characters again, and naturally arrive at 2119 instead of just starting there. Keep that in mind.
This was just before COTG Online became a thing. I ended up purchasing the same digital sets (2087 to 2102) as they became available Online.
And then...
I lost all of my cards, customized special matches, fed history, etc. several years ago during a move. It was devastating. In that time I have tried to get back into the game every now and then via the digital sets I've bought. And while I love the online version and ABSOLUTELY love the colorized digital cards, I just can't get into the game quite the same way as I have with the cards and dice.
So what I'm getting at is that I'm really wanting to get back into playing...like, a stronger feeling than I've had in quite some time. I'd like to do so with the old school cards and dice. I get that there is a ton of content available now in that format and it will likely be expensive, but that's not much of a concern of mine at the moment.
My main question is if there are any original card sets that are no longer available. I remember this being the case several years ago when I was getting back into the game...if I remember correctly it was Civil War 2100, and maybe one or two others that were out of print. I'd also like to know if there are any special edition cards that are no longer available.
And in this case, what would your recommendations be? Will those game sets be reprinted at some point? Are there PDFs available for me to print at home? (And in that case, are there any instructions for how to print and what kind of card stock to use?).
Are the new reimagined versions of the original sets worth getting as opposed to the original sets? Is this the only option to buy those years as cards?
And one final question, this time regarding the digital sets. I am definitely still wanting to purchase these as well. It looks like everything between The End 2110 and New Beginning 2119 aren't available in digital yet (unless I'm missing something). Are there plans for those sets to be made available digitally?
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. I actually had e-mailed Tom about this awhile ago, and he suggested that I post on the message board, as I would get better answers that way. I'm not sure if this is the correct board for this. If this is the case, please let me know and I will move it to the appropriate location.
