SCCW November 2021 Summary
11/5 Dothan, AL
Jimmy Valiant cor Brian Blair; Jack & Jerry Brisco dq J.J. Dillon & Larry Hennig; Steve Williams dq Bob Roop; Alligator Alley: Ray Stevens b D’Lo Brown to win the title; Destroyer & Billy “Red” Lyons dq Masked Superstar & Mister Hughes; Magnificent Muraco dq Ted DiBiase
Notes: Killing the town with inconclusive finishes! This show has made me reconsider my “roll once for DQ” policy and will be rolling twice starting in 2022. Only about 62% of the matches are ending in pins and submissions, and I’m looking for closer to 70%. After feuding with The Destroyer for months, Jack Brisco is starting to express interest in both the singles and tag-team titles. Williams finally has a DQ decision go his way, but South Coast officials are still reluctant to give him a rematch with Harley Race. Roop said he was “done with this place” after being disqualified. Stevens wins the Alligator Alley Title with the Bomb’s Away Kneedrop in the only pinfall victory of the evening. Turns out there is a family connection between Destroyer and Billy “Red” Lyons, which led to them teaming - Christmas dinner must be interesting. DiBiase was disqualified before he even got his ring jacket off. He viciously attacked Muraco as soon as the bell sounded.
11/15 Pensacola, FL
Brad Armstrong b Dusty Wolfe; Larry Hennig dq Jerry Brisco; Bob & Brian Armstrong dcor Dirty Daltons; Ray Stevens b The Destroyer; Magnificent Muraco & the Valiants b Ted DiBiase, Brian Blair & Scott Casey ****; Harley Race retained the South Coast title with a DQ win over Pampero Firpo
Notes: Raucous double count out between the Bob & Brian Armstrong and the Daltons. Brian has expressed a desire to move to a different territory to gain experience. Stevens’ bout was not an Alligator Alley title defense as it had been signed prior to Ray winning the title. Valiants used the Super Elbow on Blair to win a wild six-man tag. Going into the South Coast Championship match, competitors had a combined 15-1 record with the only loss by DQ. Firpo wants a rematch, but Race seems to want no part of the Wild Bull of the Pampas. South Coast officials announced a big Christmas night show in Pensacola, and are working on the lineup.
11/25 Baton Rouge, LA
Brian Armstrong b George South; Mister Hughes b Scott Casey; Dirty Daltons cor Tom Prichard & D’Lo Brown; Jack Brisco b J.J. Dillon; Masked Superstar cot The Destroyer; Valiant brothers retained the South Coast tag-team championship with a DQ win over the Flying Redheads ****
Notes: Mister Hughes, the “Supreme Bodyguard” (as he is referred to by Ray Stevens), won his first singles match in a tough fight. Recent tensions between Tom Prichard and D’Lo Brown boiled over in the tag bout. Prichard just left the ring as soon as the match started, and D’Lo took a beating. Prichard returned later with a steel chair and whacked D’Lo several times which caused the count out. Round one in the highly anticipated battle of masked men goes to Masked Superstar, thanks completely to a timely assist from Mister Hughes. Redheads continue to have memorable matches, they got frustrated and inadvertently hit the referee for the DQ against the Valiants. Also, at the end of November, both Bob Roop and Brian Blair left the area.
