Another jumpcut takes us straight to Atlanta, GA. Somewhat unmistakable as the first thing you see is a screen filled with the letters "LIVE FROM ATLANTA, GA". So I think they are trying to tell us that they are in ATLANTA, GA. Apparently, they only care to refer to themselves as "Wrestling". I'm sure this promotion has a name. Perhaps it is a closely held secret for tax reasons. Anyway, onto the action!
The Texas Killer vs Disco Inferno
Disco clearly infuriates the fans here as they appear to be cheering someone named "The Texas Killer". In Georgia. This was a pretty fun match, all told, with Disco controlling most of it and getting a series of 2 counts. He went to the top to try to finish off the Killer, but Mr. Killer caught him with a powerslam and held him down for the 3 count! Fun little match to start us off.
Winner: The Texas Killer by pinfall --------------- Dennis Condrey (w/ Stan Lane & Jim Cornette) vs Brad Armstrong (w/ Brian Armstrong)
So it appears the Midnight Express is here. And it consists of Stan Lane and Dennis Condrey? Maybe? There was a Bobby Eaton reference mentioned by the announcers. Maybe it is all 3 of them? Anyway, despite the best efforts of Cornette and Lane on the outside, Armstrong was able to overcome Condrey with a Russian Leg Sweep for the win.
Winner: Brad Armstrong by pinfall --------------- Southeastern Title Match: Bobby Eaton (c, w/ Stan Lane & Jim Cornette) vs Mikey Whipwreck
Ah, there's Bobby Eaton! Apparently, he's the Southeastern champion! Another fun match, back and forth throughout with both men getting long 2 counts on the other. Eaton climbed to the top to deliver a cross body as Lane & Cornette celebrated, but Whipwreck rolled through and got the 3 count for the title! Lane hit the ring to attack, by Mikey slipped out and ran to the back with his new belt!
Winner and new Southeastern Champion: Mikey Whipwreck by pinfall --------------- Hillbilly Jim vs Tommy Gilbert
This was a somewhat more one-sided match, Jim didn't really get much offense in and Gilbert put him down with a running knee lift.
Winner: Tommy Gilbert --------------- Jake Milliman & George South vs Bruiser Brody & George Tragos
Well, this is an interesting team...Tragos was in the ring essentially the whole match. He outwrestled both Milliman and South for a while, before finally tagging out to Brody to deliver the King Kong kneedrop on South for the easy win.
Winners: Bruiser Brody & George Tragos by pinfall --------------- The Patriot vs Tiger Conway, Jr.
A mostly scientific match, The Patriot used his superior power to ground Conway early. The quickness of Conway was able to keep him in the match, however, and he delivered a nice looking hurricanrana to score what some might think was an upset win. The 2 competitors shook hands after the match.
Winner: Tiger Conway, Jr. by pinfall --------------- United States Tag Team Championship Match: The Pitbulls (c) vs Sandman & Barbarian
And with that the tone shifted to a massive brawl. Crowd ate it up since it was very different than what was on the rest of this show to this point. The 4 men spend more time in the ring together than in a traditional tag match, with the poor referee losing control of it early. Eventually, Sandman went to his trusty Singapore Cane and walloped Pitbull #1 with it. Unfortunately, the ref wasn't as distracted as he thought and he through the match out and awarded it to the Pitbulls. Interestingly, it was the Pitbulls that seemed to be more upset by the match ending in this way, and a challenge was made for a rematch under No DQ Tornado Tag rules for a later date.
Winners and still Southeastern Tag Team Champions: The Pitbulls by DQ --------------- WWA World Title Tournament 1st Round: Brian Armstrong (w/ Brad Armstong) vs Terry Gordy (w/ Alexis Smirnoff)
With all the folks around ringside, and the way many of the tournament matches have gone, I get the feeling this one will not end cleanly. Sure enough, Gordy dominated most of the match, with the help of Smirnoff on the outside. Brad got fed up with this and attacked Smirnoff. Gordy thought it would be time to hit Brian with a chair shot, but the ref spun around just in time (these must be the most competent refs in the history of pro wrestling!) and DQ'd Gordy. So Brian Armstrong advances. Somehow.
Winner: Brian Armstrong by DQ --------------- WWA World Title Tournament 1st Round: Fit Finlay vs Killer Kowalski
This one was quite fun. And looked quite stiff! After good brawling action, Kowalski reached into his bag of tricks and hit Finlay with a pair of brass knuckles. He had Finlay pinned, and the ref was counting until COMPETANT REFEREE STRIKES AGAIN and he noticed the knucks still on his had and disqualified Kowalski. More non-clean finishes in the tournament. On the one hand, I understand the idea and why this is so, on the other: why even have a World Title if it is going to go like this...
Winner: Fit Finlay by DQ ---------------- United States Title Match: Vampiro (c) vs Manny Fernandez
Interesting to see Vampiro as the U.S. Champion here. The fed looks to be an interesting mix of old school technical, southern-style rasslin' and at least a touch of some hardcore brawling too. Vampiro looked super strong here, and was able to put away Fernandez with the Nail In The Coffin.
Winner and Still U.S. Champion: Vampiro ---------------- With that disc 2 abruptly ends...

Disc #3, and now we are back to revisiting promotions, first up is the Pacific Coast Grappling. ----------- Psycho, The Hangman vs Kenny Jay
This was the very definition of a preliminary bout, crowd appeared to still be filing in and weren't really paying much attention to the action. Psycho threw Kenny Jay out of the ring over the top, and he was unable to get back and was counted out.
Winner: Psycho, The Hangman by countout ----------- Henry Irslinger vs The Spoiler
This one stayed on the match, with the Spoiler grounding Irslinger, wearing him down. Spoiler put away Irslinger with the Bionic Claw to pick up the win.
Winner: The Spoiler by submission ----------- Tommy Rogers vs Warlord
This looked like a bit of a mismatch on paper, and the match started that way as the Warlord threw Rogers all over the ring. Rogers turned the tied with a roll up after a turnbuckle charge backfired, but only got 2. The momentum had shifted greatly, however, and Rogers hit the Tomizake to score a shock win!
Winner: Tommy Rogers by pinfall ----------- Ivan Koloff vs Tom Prichard
Koloff was in a mean mood, and dominated Prichard throughout. Prichard really didn't have any offense in this one, Koloff finished him off with a kneedrop for the pin. That's multiple times Koloff has used the kneedrop as a finish now. I wonder if that's his finisher here. Not the one I usually associate with him.
Winner: Ivan Koloff by pinfall ----------- Ox Baker vs Mike DiBiase
Another one-sided match. Between this and his team with Kenny Jay, I guess DiBiase is way down the pecking order here out west. Baker finished DiBiase off with the Heart Punch and DiBiase had to be stretchered out.
Winner: Ox Baker by pinfall ----------- Pacific Tag Team Title Match: Greg & Johnny Valentine (c) vs California State Champion Jerry Brisco & 2 Cold Scorpio
I guess this is the payoff match from the event on the last DVD? Not sure how much time has passed, but the crowd seems really excited for this one so they must have been doing something right here. Anyway, the match was pretty good actually. Brisco's time in with either Valentine was some nice mat action, with the dynamic changing when Scorpio tagged in. Wasn't sure how the Brisco/Scorpio team was going to go, but I dig it! Finish came when Brisco suplexed Greg, tagged in Scorpio for a moonsault for the pin and the win! I guess Brisco is a double champion now! Crowd popped big for the title win, interesting to see where they go from here.
Winners and new Pacific Tag Team Champions: Jerry Brisco & 2 Cold Scorpio by pinfall ----------- WWA World Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Jimmy Snuka vs Brian Armstrong
I guess the World Title Tournament is headed to it's next phase, as this was billed as a "Quarterfinal" match. This was a bit of a surprise, as I expected the local wrestler, Snuka, to dominate, but Armstrong held his own. In fact, he hit what was called a "Dancing knee drop"...and won! Interesting. Didn't expect that. Clean finish, Snuka was just beat...
Winner: Brian Armstrong by pinfall ----------- WWA World Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Steve Williams vs Fit Finlay
If the crowd was stunned by the result of the last match, they were completely floored by what happened here. Williams started quickly and looked to put away Finlay with the Oklahoma Stampede, but Finlay KICKED OUT!! After recovering, he clotheslined Williams by the ropes, picked him up on the rebound, hit the Tombstone piledriver...and scored the win!! Interesting decision here as well, as both PCG-based wrestlers lost clean. Certainly leads a little more intrigue on where this is going long term. At least the clean wins were a refreshing change from many of the 1st round matches!
Winner: Fit Finaly by pinfall ------------ Pacific Heavyweight Title Match: Great Gama (c) vs Big Van Vader
YES! IT'S VADER TIME! Top 2 of my all-time favorites! Who doesn't love a good Vader match?! This one was fun while it lasted, as Gama was getting ready to set up the Gama Throw, the Valentine's hit the ring for the DQ. They were, in turn, followed by the new tag champs, Brisco and Scorpio and the 6-men brawled until the rulebreakers escaped. Crowd got their happy ending, everyone was kept reasonably strong, AND I GOT TO SEE A VADER MATCH! Everyone wins! I suspect (hope?) there will be more of this to come, as this didn't seem like the end, but a beginning.
Winner and Still Pacific Heavyweight Champion: Great Gama by DQ ------------- Things look like they are starting to pick up. The World Title Tournament looks like it is getting some momentum finally, I can see how having the local guys lose can make the title seem that much more important. Interesting long-term strategy. We'll see what happens as we continue along. Wonder where we are going next...

Apparently, we are now in "Europe". Not entirely sure where, but the ring announcer appears to be speaking English. It's the announcers that claim that we are on the continent. This is an International Wrestling Federation event. Packed house. Guess I'm a little confused why they felt they needed to be in an alliance of what looks like smaller promotions. Whatever, the announcers hype up a WWA World Title tournament match between The Destroyer and "Regional Wrestling Star" Barry Windham. Interesting phrasing. They also hype up an International Title defense for Shane Douglas against Terry Gordy.
Butcher Vachon vs Butch Miller
This crowd is absolutely loving Butch Miller, and I have no idea why. Perhaps it is a sign for how lively the crowd will be the entire event! Once we get to action, this was...what you thought it would be. Fun brawl, for those who like such things, they go to the outside and the match completely breaks down, Miller is awarded the DQ win. Probably because that would get the biggest cheer(?)
Winner: Butch Miller by DQ --------------- Non-Title Match: Adrian Adonis vs Trans-Oceanic Champions Jimmy Valiant
Not sure why this is a non-title match, Valiant is clearly wearing his title belt. Adonis came out super aggressive, he seems pumped by the crowd. They exchange offense pretty evenly, the turning point came then Adonis hit a big clothesline off of the ropes. Noticing Valiant was stunned, Adonis wrapped him up in the sleeper and Valiant gave up! Guess this leads to a title match down the line?
Winner: Adrian Adonis by submission --------------- Billy Red Lyons vs David Taylor
Taylor, though having all the mannerisms of a rulebreaker here, was clearly the crowd favorite. Despite David controlling much of the match, Lyons had Taylor on the run late, when Taylor pulled out a foriegn object and walloped Lyons. Ref saw it and DQ'd Taylor. Crowd was, shall we say, animated at the decision.
Winner: Billy Red Lyons by DQ --------------- International Tag Team Champion Alexis Smirnoff vs Brutus Beefcake
Smirnoff's tag champ partner Terry Gordy wasn't out, guess the idea is that he's preparing for the International Title Match later. Crowd got a bit restless and rowdy during this one. Not entirely fair to the guys in the ring, as this wasn't a terrible match. Wasn't fantastic either, to be fair. After some good back-and-forth action, Beefcake locked on the sleeper and Smirnoff didn't submit, but he did go to sleep.
Winner: Brutus Beefcake by Ref Stoppage --------------- Marty Jannetty & Rod Fenton vs Juventud Guerrera & Koko B. Ware
Fenton looks like the odd man out here, and it showed in the match. It was very fast paced match when Jannetty was in, when Fenton came in Juventud especially looked to be somewhat confused on what to do. It led to a bit of an ugly ending sequence where Juventud came off the ropes for a dive of some sort, only to be caught by Fenton and hung up in the ropes. Not sure if that was the planned idea, as after a few awkward moments, the ref called for the bell apparently disqualifying Fenton. Odd match, good in spots, but what I can only presume to be an improvised ending.
Winners: Juventud Guerrera & Koko B. Ware by DQ --------------- Eddie Gilbert vs Yusuf Ismael
Not sure if this was somehow clipped in the DVD, but what was shown was barely 2 minutes worth of action when Gilbert hit a Hot Shot on Ismael and covered him for the win.
Winner: Eddie Gilbert by pinfall --------------- Gorgeous George vs Iron Sheik
Another seemingly quick match, as the brawled on the outside, Cherie Dupre distracted the Sheik, and George walloped him with a chair to force a DQ. Perhaps the tag match went long, and they are trying to make the time up now? --------------- The American Patriots (J.J. Dillon & Marcus Bagwell) vs Fritz Von Goring & Konnan
No Shane Douglas with the Patriots, but WOW what heat! Even this seemingly savvy crowd wants to see the Patriots beaten to a pulp it seems. There are some somewhat inaudible chants the crowd is singing that Dillon and Bagwell are reacting to. The Von Goring/Konnan team gave the crowd what they wanted, dominating pretty much the whole way, Konnan hit a belly-to-belly on Bagwell to get the win! Seems like it was a nod to Shane Douglas' finisher, as Douglas ran out and walloped Von Goring and Konnan with the title belt, and the Patriots & Douglas were about to drape the U.S. flag over them when Terry Gordy and Alexis Smirnoff hit the ring as the Patriots scurried to the back. Gordy took the mic and said that he's a proud American too, but he can't stand by while the "so-called Patriots" give the U.S. a bad name overseas.
Winners: Fritz Von Goring & Konnan by pinfall --------------- WWA World Title Tournament Quarterfinals: The Destroyer vs Barry Windham
This was a somewhat methodically paced match, with a lot of mat wrestling and submissions. The pace picked up nicely toward the end, and Windham ended up finishing off the Destroyer with a flying lariat and a Superplex for the (clean) win! Crowd was really into this one too, and gave both men a standing ovation after the bell.
Winner: Barry Windham by pinfall --------------- International Title Match: Shane Douglas (c, w/ The American Patriots) vs Terry Gordy (w/ Alexis Smirnoff)
So I guess this is what they were saving time for, as this match went on nearly a full hour! All 5 men were involved in some way or another, and there were a bunch of false finishes. These included, Bagwell and Dillon hitting some interesting double team moves on Gordy while the ref was busy with Smirnoff leading to a 2.9 count, Gordy coming back with the Oriental Spike, but Dillon putting Douglas' leg on the rope, Douglas hitting a Belly-to-Belly after Bagwell hit Gordy with a flag pole for another 2.9 count. With the ref distracted again, the Patriots and Douglas went for some sort of triple team move. Smirnoff finally had enough and attacked the Patriots (making sure not to touch Douglas) as Gordy recovered, powerbombed Douglas and scored a 3 count that made the building nearly explode in delight. Amazing match. Perhaps a bit overdone, but the crowd was super into it. Gordy was congratulated by Konnan and others as they came down to the ring to celebrate, and a bunch of wrestlers carried the new champ back to the locker room on their shoulders!
Winner and new International Heavyweight Champion: Terry Gordy by pinfall -------------- WHEW! That was...something. There appears to be more on this DVD, I think I need to take a brief respite after that, though.

Really innovative concept and of course, I had to become a loyal audience member when I discovered my Vampire brother is the U.S. Champion (somewhere, out there)... The presentation is clean and your writing is very easy to follow... Nice work!

This looks to be the last show on DVD #3, it is from HoA Wrestling, and it emanates from Detroit, MI. Unless they are lying. Not sure why they would be lying. But this is wrestling. Anyway, let's just say that they are in Detroit, and move on.
They run down the card, the main event is actually an Americas Tag Title (Re)Match between Orton & Brunzell and the Road Warriors. No mention of the WWA World Title tournament though. By my count, the previous 2 events had 3 quarterfinal matches between them, so perhaps there should be one more somewhere? Apparently, not here though...
---------- Steve Richards vs Dan Severn
Richards tries to wrestle with Severn. Severn eats him alive. Severn chokes Richards out. The end. The Beast rolls on.
Winner: Dan Severn by submission ---------- The Outlaw Billy Gunn vs Red Bastien
I think this was a rematch from the event on a previous disc that went to a time-limit draw. This one (thankfully) was much shorter, as Bastien was able to outmaneuver Gunn, hit his Atomic Drop and get the pin for the win!
Winner: Red Bastien by pinfall ---------- The Long Riders vs Hugh Morrus & Virgil
This seemed like another squash match...until it wasn't. The Irwins really did dominate the whole way, Morrus was starting to make a comeback on Bill, when he just took the whip from the corner and whipped Morrus with it for a DQ. Not really sure the point of that, but Morrus and Virgil get the win.
Winners: Hugh Morrus & Virgil by DQ ---------- Larry Hennig vs Evan Lewis
This was fun, they played up the size difference between the two with Hennig bullying the Strangler when he had the chance, but Lewis countering with some nice grappling and leg dives and submissions. The end came when Hennig was able to set up Lewis for the Axe, and Lewis stayed down for 3.
Winner: Larry Hennig by pinfall ---------- Bobo Brazil vs Jack Brisco
Another good "bigger guy vs better wrestler" match, this one going to the better wrestler as Brisco was able to chop down Bobo, lock in the figure four and get the submission win! A future challenger for Thesz's Americas Championship?
Winner: Jack Brisco by submission ---------- Harley Race vs Killer Kowalski
This wasn't quite what I expected it to be, as the 2 men brawled more on the outside than did anything in the ring. Kowalski reached into the stands and seemingly scared some poor ringsider half to death before grabbing their chair. Race and Kowalski battled over the chair, which Race won, but then he used it on Kowalski to draw the DQ.
Winner: Killer Kowalski by DQ ---------- Americas Tag Title Match: Bob Orton, Jr. & Jim Brunzell (c) vs The Road Warriors (w/ Paul Ellering)
Not sure I remember seeing Ellering at ringside on the previous disc, but he's definitely here on this one. Much like the last match, this one went all over the place with even Brunzell holding his own in the brawling department. Finally, Ellering got involved by tripping up Orton and the match completely fell apart. The ref was left with no choice but to DQ both teams after they hit each other with everything they could find around ringside. After the bell, the Road Warriors started to get the better of it, and hit the Doomsday Device on Brunzell, but it didn't really matter by then. Guess it was meant to make up for the lack of a decisive finish here and send the fans home happy.
Double Disqualification - Orton & Brunzell retain Americas Tag Team Titles ---------- Well, that's it for DVD 3. If I had to characterize the promotions to this point -
IWF seems to be a large promotion. They appear to run events only outside of the US. They also seem to draw the largest crowds. The American Patriots are the biggest surprise for me. Shane Douglas, J.J. Dillon & Marcus Alexander Bagwell feels like a bunch of random names thrown together, but they make it work. And it feels like the whole world hates them. Would have loved to have seen how they were built up to this level, as all I think I've seen is the blowoff.
Heart of America Wrestling has some really good old-school type wrestlers. Not sure they are being used to their fullest though. They seem to want to have the Road Warriors on top, but with Thesz, Race, Brisco, etc. I'm not really sure why. I mentioned it in another review, but I don't know what Tri-State Championship Wrestling is even trying to be. Looks like they have a bunch of second-tier hardcore brawler-types...but also Johnny Saint, Frank Gotch & Buddy Rogers? I think the lack of identity is what leads to the lesser crowds, possibly.
I'm not even sure what the name of the promotion that seems to run in the Southeast is, but it appears to have a larger focus on tag wrestling, or at least tag team units. Looking forward to seeing how that develops as they do have an eclectic mix of folks, but with seemingly better direction than Tri-State.
The Southwest Wrestling Conference seems to have the smallest roster, but I'd argue that they seem to have the tightest promotional work from what I've seen. Shorter cards seem to give the crowd a sense that each match is bigger, and the cage match between Magnum and Blackjack for their title was well told.
Looking back, it seems Pacific Coast Grappling has had the most matches from the WWA World Title tournament. Not sure why that would be. Perhaps they were the driving force for the formation of the group? Also, they have Vader. Who doesn't love Vader?

DVD #4! A steel cage is hanging over the ring, as this is a Southwestern Wrestling Conference event with the Steel Cage rematch for the vacant (I think) North American championship between Magnum T.A. and Blackjack Mulligan ---------- Jerry Lynn vs Don Muraco
I think this was a match on the last show as well (edit: it turns out that would be a recurring theme of this show). Unlike last time, Lynn's speed advantage does him well, and he beats Muraco with a springboard dropkick for the win.
Winner: Jerry Lynn by pinfall ---------- Al Snow & Dick Hutton vs Chaz Taylor & Brian Christopher
Oh look, another rematch. I had a feeling the SWC had a small roster, and I guess this is what happens when you have only limited workers to put together. Like the last one, this ended differently as Snow hit Taylor with a vicious series of headbutts and got the win. Interesting ending, Taylor looked like he may have had his nose broken, as blood was coming out of his nose after the bell.
Winners: Al Snow & Dick Hutton by pinfall ---------- D'Lo Brown vs Bob Roop
OK, now this is getting repetitive. Third match, third rematch. Fourth if you count that the main event is technically a rematch of the main event from the previous show. Unlike the 1st two, this one ended the same way, with D'Lo getting a pinfall. Somewhat more decisive than the first match though, D'Lo pinning Roop after a swinging side slam.
Winner: D'Lo Brown by pinfall ---------- Rob Van Dam vs Barry Windham
This one is...NOT A REMATCH! HUZZAH! Van Dam with the stalling early and I get a bad feeling that this will be slow paced. Indeed, the match went long, but it was quite entertaining. Almost entirely due to Windham. They went back and forth, each hitting big moves. Windham hit a superplex for 2, Van Dam came back and hit spinning kicks for 2 as well. As the time limit was nearing the end, Van Dam hit a 5-Star Frogsplash, but the bell rang for the time limit before he could get the cover! One of the better RVD matches I've seen, in general.
Time Limit Draw ---------- North American Tag Team Title Match: Robert Gibson & Bob Armstrong (c) vs Tully & Joe Blanchard
This one is a title rematch. Though, I'm not complaining, these four put on quite a show last time and they put on a similar match this time. Difference was the ending, after some miscommunication by the Blanchards, with Tully accidentally hitting Joe leading to a Double Dropkick for Tully grabbed a chair and put it in the ring. Armstrong intercepted it and hit Tully, but the ref caught it and disqualified the champs. Joe chastised his son after the match, a sign of dissention in the ranks?
Winners: Tully & Joe Blanchard by DQ; Gibson & Armstrong retain the North American Tag Team Titles ---------- Main Event - Steel Cage Match for vacant North American Championship: Magnum T.A. vs Blackjack Mulligan
Apparently, in addition to it being a cage match, everyone was banned from ringside as the announcers mentioned that Windham, Stan Hansen and everyone else wouldn't play a part in how the match went. Which is sort of a guarantee that they would play a part in determining the winner. Wrestling! After some typical, but fun, steel cage tactics (mostly consisting of Magnum throwing Blackjack around the cage and cutting him open), T.A. signaled that he was going for the Belly-to-Belly suplex! Sure enough Barry Windham came out through the crowd with a baseball bat. Hansen came out to intercept Windham, but wasn't able to get to him before the bat was thrown over the cage into the ring (nearly hitting the poor ref in the head!). Magnum was distracted by the brawl on the outside and Blackjack recovered the bat and hit Magnum with it, knocking him out! Rather than pinning him immediately Blackjack put the Claw hold on him, and with Magnum not responding the ref had no choice but to stop the match, awarding the title to Blackjack Mulligan! The crowd booed this turn of events lustily as Hansen went into the cage to check on Magnum while Blackjack and Windham celebrated.
Winner and new North American Champion: Blackjack Mulligan by referee stoppage ---------- SWC looks like they try to do as much as they can with relatively little. The rematches were a bit tiresome, frankly, and hopefully other events will have different matchups, but the main matches were fun. Not sure where they are going with the Blanchards, or if the post-match was meant to be a red herring, but I would guess that there was at least one more match in that series.
