Our next event takes us back to the NE United States, and the somewhat odd Tri-State Championship Wrestling ---------- Mr. Hughes vs Doug Gilbert
A relatively quick opener, Mr. Hughes battered poor Gilbert before putting him away with the Spike Slam for the win
Winner: Mr. Hughes by pinfall ---------- Johnny Valiant vs Tugboat Taylor
Valiant used his trickery here, pulling out a foreign object missing Taylor, Taylor took it back from him, hit Valiant and was disqualified.
Winner: Johnny Valiant by DQ ---------- Blue Meanie vs Scott Taylor
Thankfully, another quick match where Taylor broke out the Worm after what can only be described as a comedy match. Taylor challenged George Steele for the Northeastern Title after the win and my somehow my opinion of that title is now lower than it was before...
Winner: Scott Taylor by pinfall ---------- Wild Bull Curry & Ron Hutchinson vs Wild Bill White & Brian Blair
This, to me, is what we can get out of TSCW at its best. While it would seem that this would be a mish-mash of styles, it actually flowed pretty well with spots of wild brawling, fun technical wrestling and a touch of athletic high-flying. End came when Hutchinson trapped White in the Shediac Lobster Trap and got the submission.
Winners: Wild Bull Curry & Ron Hutchinson by submission ---------- Masked Superstar vs Justin Credible
Superstar ground down Credible throughout this match, locking in the Cobra Hold for the submission.
Winner: Masked Superstar by submission ---------- Johnny Saint vs Larry Zbyszko
I thought this one might be a bit of fun, and it was! At least for a while. Saint flustered Zbyszko with his usual array of technical escape trickery, forcing Zbyszko to the ropes many times. Zbyszko finally snapped and choked Saint with his wrist tape to force a DQ.
Winner: Johnny Saint by DQ ---------- WWA World Title Tournament Quarterfinal: The Crusher vs Manny Fernandez
Hey look! Another WWA tournament match! This was basically a squash match, The Crusher hit Fernandez with his full arsenal of 3 moves and holds, and Fernandez looked like he was near death by the end. In desperation, The Raging Bull hit Crusher with a low blow (which Crusher no-sold), but the ref disqualified Fernandez anyway. That wasn't confusing at all.
Winner: The Crusher by DQ ---------- Non-title Match: Intercontinental Champion Buddy Rogers vs Diamond Dallas Page
So this was made clear to be a non-title match, for some reason. I guess because Rogers had already beaten DDP easily, it was decided not to make this a title match? Perhaps they wanted the tag title match to be the only title match and thus the main event? In either case, this one was another one-sided match. No trickery, no hope from DDP, another Figure 4 Grapevine, another submission win. Not really sure the point, other than to give Rogers another win in front of the people.
Winner: Buddy Rogers by submission ---------- Intercontinental Tag Team Title Match: Luke Williams & Scott Casey (c) vs Pampero Firpo & Baron Von Raschke
Still not sure why these four rate the main event, given the others on that seem to be in this promotion (Rogers, Saint, even folks like Zbyszko). In any event, this was, at least, over quickly as the Baron pinned Williams with a back suplex to win the titles. Crowd wasn't terrible excited or put off by this, which might be the most damning reaction of all...
Winners and new Intercontinental Tag Team Champions: Pampero Firpo & Baron Von Raschke by pinfall

We head back to the Southeast and we have a name for the Promotion! Sun Belt Wrestling coming from Charlotte, NC is the next show on DVD #4. The main event is a Tornado Tag Match for the U.S. Tag Team championship between the Pitbulls and Sandman & Barbarian. Vampiro also will defend against Fit Finlay. ---------- Ric McCord vs Disco Inferno
This was fine for what it was, Disco was being goofy, and McCord is McCord. Ending came when McCord missed a shoulder charge into the turnbuckle, Disco rolled him up and pulled the tights for the 3 count. Got some good heat as he was booed to the back.
Winner: Disco Inferno by pinfall ---------- Dennis Condrey (w/ Jim Cornette & Stan Lane) vs Brad Armstrong
Armstrong started the match strongly, setting up Condrey for the Russian Leg Sweep, but Lane distracted him from the apron. As Brad started to go after Lane, who was also distracting the ref, Cornette came in and was about to hit Brad with the tennis racket, when Brian Armstrong came in to help his brother and took Cornette out. Cornette had dropped the racket, Condrey picked it up and hit Brad with it, but by then the ref had turned around and caught Condrey for the DQ.
Winner: Brad Armstrong by DQ ---------- Southeastern Title Rematch: Mikey Whipwreck (c) vs Bobby Eaton (w/ Jim Cornette & Stan Lane)
A disheveled Lane and Cornette could barely stand as Eaton came to the ring, and seemed rather distracted as Whipwreck made quick work of Beautiful Bobby with the Whipper Snapper.
Winner and Still Southeastern Champion: Mikey Whipwreck by pinfall ---------- Tiger Conway Jr. vs The Patriot
Interestingly, while it was mentioned that the previous match was a rematch, the announcers played this one as if it wasn't one. Wonder if this was a tour of some kind where they ran roughly the same matches on each card. Anyway, this one was another scientific match...well until the end. After frustrating The Patriot for most of the match, the Patriot looked like he got injured on the outside of the ring. As Conway came out to check on him, the Patriot grabbed a chair and walloped him! The ref called for the DQ, but The Patriot didn't seem to care. Indeed, he continued the attack post match, hitting Conway with the Patriot Missle. After the attack, Patriot...PULLED OFF HIS MASK AND THREW IT ON CONWAY!
Winner: Conway by DQ ---------- In what looks like a cutaway edit, The Patriot is being interviewed in the lockeroom and said that he didn't want to be known as "The Patriot" any more. He can't stand the person he was, and now he was going to be who he truly is. He is truly, in his heart, a dangerous man. "Dangerous" Del Wilkes. ---------- That interview looked like it wasn't part of the original broadcast as the arena broadcast seemed to pick right off from where it was.
Jake Milliman & George South vs Bruiser Brody & George Tragos
Non-descript squash match. Milliman and South took a good beating, but even for these sorts of squashes this was short. Tragos submitting Milliman with the Double Wristlock
Winner: Bruiser Brody & George Tragos by submission ---------- Hillbilly Jim vs Tommy Gilbert
This match was all chopped up on the disk, from what I could see Jim won by DQ because of some sort of foreign object shot. Don't think I missed anything here.
Winner: Hillbilly Jim by DQ ---------- Brian Armstrong vs Manny Fernandez
The announcers played up that these two are still in the WWA World Title tournament (guess this was before the The Crusher/Manny match on this DVD?), and it was played as a serious match, but more a warmup for both of them. This was a bit of a slow paced match, but did pick up at the end. A fun closing sequence saw Fernandez reverse a suplex attempt into a Sleeper hold and Armstrong tried to fight out, but eventually submitted.
Winner: Manny Fernandez by submission ---------- United States Title Match: Vampiro (c) vs Fit Finlay
Interestingly, this was more of a technical striking match than the brawl than you would have thought. At least at first. Some very stiff kicks from Vampiro were answered with devastating forearm uppercuts from Finlay. Finlay took Vampiro down and they started grappling. Finlay was getting the best of mat exchanges, and a frustrated Vampiro kicked Finlay quite low for the DQ loss. Vampiro taking the low road in defending his title.
Winner: Fit Finlay by DQ; Vampiro retains the United States Title ---------- Main Event - United States Tag Team Title Tornado Match: The Pitbulls (c) vs Sandman & Barbarian
This was a wild brawl from the start. It was very fast paced (well, as fast paced as a Sandman match ever is), The Pitbulls managed to hit Sandman with the Super Bomb with Barbarian thrown to the outside. Barbie did get back into the ring to break up the count. Sandman was knocked out and it was 2-on-1 for a while, until one of the ringside fans passed him a beer. The beer seemed to energize Sandman and he grabbed his cane and hit Pitbull #2 with it until he was down. He then hit Pitbull #1 with the White Russian Legsweep, held him up for the Barbarian Elevated Clothesline and a 3 count later we and we have new United States Tag Team Champions!
Winners and new United States Tag Team Champions: Sandman & Barbarian ---------- Decent show. The editing, and the number of DQs and rematches weren't ideal, but the main event Tornado match was fun! And with that, DVD #4 ends...

*Puts in DVD #5* - 2nd half of the set starts now. Excited to see what I see next! Sent my trading partner some Lithuanian 3rd Division football matches, so perhaps they might send me something additional through the dimensional porthole...
Anyway, disc 5 starts with the International Wrestling Federation, before a packed house in Calgary. --------- Butcher Vachon vs Fritz Von Goring
Standard brawl to start the card, mostly even all the way through. Vachon was able to get the Hangman locked in on Von Goring and got the submission.
Winner: Butcher Vachon by submission --------- Rod Fenton vs Butch Miller
This one was pretty quick, Fenton started hot and finished Miller with a series of dropkicks. Miller really struggled here, didn't look good at all.
Rod Fenton by pinfall --------- Trans-Oceanic Title Match: Jimmy Valiant (c) vs Adrian Adonis
Apparently, this is the title shot from Adonis winning the non-title match on a previous event. Adonis actually dominated this one too, Valiant fought back...valiantly (please go easy on the tomatoes), but Adonis locked in Goodnight Irene, and Valiant when to sleep! Adonis celebrated with the title in the ring, holding the belt over the fallen Boogey Woogie Man.
Winner and new Trans-Oceanic Champion: Adrian Adonis by submission --------- Juventud Guerrera & Koko B. Ware vs The Hot Ones (Gorgeous George & Eddie Gilbert)
Interesting name for the George and Gilbert team. Guess I'm more surprised that they didn't put "Gorgeous" in the name somewhere. The Hot Ones used their size advantage, roughing up the smaller team throughout. Gilbert DDT'd Ware for the win, the Hot Ones laughing all the way to the locker room after the win.
Winners: The Hot Ones by pinfall --------- Marty Jannetty vs Brutus Beefcake
Interesting little match here, good action, but was missing some connection with the crowd who didn't seem to fully appreciate it. Beefcake locked in the sleeper for the win, which woke the crowd up a little.
Winner: Brutus Beefcake by submission --------- The Destroyer vs Konnan
Interesting clash of styles, sometimes these turn into sloppy affairs, but this one meshed well. End came when Konnan reversed a submisison from The Destroyer, and locked in the Ziplock and The Destroyer had no choice but to give up.
Winner: Konnan by submission --------- The American Patriots (J.J. Dillion & Marcus Bagwell) vs Billy Red Lyons & Davey Boy Smith
No Shane Douglas, and the Patriots made have a little less heat than some of the previous events, but they still elicited a reaction and took another beating in this one. They only offense came when they would illegally double team after breaking up pins, but eventually after a powerslam/flying splash combination for the win.
Winners: Billy Red Lyons & Davey Boy Smith by pinfall --------- International Title Match: Terry Gordy (c) vs The Iron Sheik
This was an absolute demolition job that the crowd ate up. Not sure what has happened in the interim since the last show I've seen, but Gordy is as hot as a fan favorite as the American Patriots are (were?) as rulebreakers. Gordy finished off the Sheik with a powerbomb to keep the title
Winner and still International Heavyweight Champion: Terry Gordy by pinfall --------- Fun event. No Shane Douglas, wondering if they are starting to deemphasis the Patriots in favor of Gordy. Still a lot of fun here, and the crowd was pretty hot here as well.

I usually do not read LOW feds. Not because there are not fantastic writers and feds, i just prefer the comic book sci Fi feel of COTG and it's similar properties. But dude, I'm actually digging this concept. I'm a bit pissed I didn't think of it. It's really brilliant. Keep up the good work and well done bud.

Heading back to the SWC now, for their next event. The announcers hype up that this is a supercard (at least by the modest SWC standards), there will be 3 title matches, including a losing-team-must-break-up tag title match, and a WWA World Title Semifinal! The first of the championship matches starts us off, for the (apparently) vacant Texas State Title.
Texas State Title: Brian Christopher vs Sam Houston
This was a decently competitive match, and Houston looked like he was about to take the title after 2 consecutive bulldogs! However, Christopher kicked out, and while egging the crowd on while taunting the crowd-favorite Houston, hit the Hip Hop drop to secure the title.
Winner and new Texas State Champion: Brian Christopher ----------- D'Lo Brown vs Jerry Lynn
This was a fun, fast-paced match with D'Lo keeping up with Lynn move for move. End came when D'Lo reversed a Lynn flying body press with a powerslam, then went to the top with a flying body press of his own for the pin and the win!
Winner: D'Lo Brown by pinfall ----------- Don Muraco vs Bob Roop
Another fun match, with a different sort of athleticism on display. After some good mat exchanges, the action picked up, and Roop hit the shoulder breaker to get the win.
Winner: Bob Roop by pinall ----------- Magnum T.A. vs Dick Hutton
Somewhat surprisingly, this ended up being little more than a squash match for the rampaging T.A. who dominated the entire way. After a very brief comeback by Hutton, T.A. hit the belly-to-belly to secure the win.
Winner: Magnum T.A. by pinfall ----------- Before the match, some highlights showed of matches from previous DVDs between the teams, plus the fallout after where Tully and Joe seemed to get into heated arguments with each other, with Joe trying to keep Tully from cheating to win matches, but Tully shaking him off. Clearly they are teasing their breakup here...
North American Tag Team Title Match - Losers must break up: Robert Gibson & Bob Armstrong (c) vs Joe & Tully Blanchard
The champs start quickly, hitting tandem offense of Joe, with Tully seemingly reluctant to get involved and save his father. The Champs got 2 count after 2 count, and eventually after a comeback on Bob Armstrong Joe tagged into Tully. After some more fast-paced double teaming by the champs, the ref was knocked down. Tully went to grab a pair of brass knuckles from his tights, but Joe came in and stopped him as Armstrong looked on! Armstrong was willing to let the Blanchards settle their own issues and the crowd cheered as Joe took the knucks and was about to hit Tully...and then turned around and cold-cocked Armstrong! Tully dispatched of Gibson on the outside, Tully and Joe then set up Armstrong for the Slingshot Suplex, Joe woke the ref up and we had a three count! The new champs laughed and celebrated taunting Gibson and Armstrong while waving bye-bye. The crowd booed the Blanchards out of the building, and I'll admit that this was pretty well done, even if somewhat telegraphed by how hard they were teasing the Blanchard's break up. Be interested to see where they go from here with this.
Winners and new North American Tag Team Champions: Joe & Tully Blanchard by pinfall - Robert Gibson & Bob Armstrong must break up as a team ------------ WWA World Title Semifinals: Barry Windham vs The Crusher
Interesting placement, as the crowd was still buzzing over the events of the tag title match, so hard to know how they will react for this one. Indeed the crowd was a bit flat for a local heel vs a visiting wrestler. It was a decent enough match, carried completely by Windham's ability, but it was the Crusher who locked in the Crusher Nelson and got a submission to advance to the finals! Now the card placement makes sense...
Winner: The Crusher by submission ------------- There was a little bit of a break before the main event, and interviews with the competitors for the North American championship was shown. The challenger is...RVD! Well this ought to be interesting.
North American Title Match: Blackjack Mulligan (c) vs Rob Van Dam
Wow! This match far surpassed my expectations, as the obvious clash of styles actually worked in its favor, with the usual slow pace of Mulligan matches being sped up by RVD, and the methodological style of Blackjack grounding some of the more ridiculous typical RVD bits. Van Dam was able to hit the 5-Star Frogsplash for 2.9, but missed on his second attempt. Mulligan recovered, and put the claw hold on Van Dam, after loading his glove behind the referee's back! Van Dam passed out, and the ref had no option but to call the match!
Winner and still North American Champions: Blackjack Mulligan by referee stoppage ------------- This was a very fun event, if a little slow in some places. The WWA World Title tournament is winding down, be interesting to see how the WWA develops from here, given the way many of the interpromotional matches have gone.

What looks to be the final even on DVD #5 comes from Pacific Coast Grappling. Looks to be an "ordinary" house show-type event, so little fanfare as we go into the matches: -------- Kenny Jay vs Psycho, The Hangman
Basic prelim match. Feel like I've seen this match on an earlier disc. Too lazy to go back and find out for an opener (editors note: yep, it was the opener of an event on an earlier disc, Psycho won by countout). In any event, this was a perfectly fine prelim match, Psycho winning with a DDT on the Sodbuster.
Winner: Psycho, The Hangman by pinfall -------- The Warlord vs Jacques Rougeau
I've seen the Warlord in a few of these big man vs technical/speedy littler man matches, and frankly, they've all been pretty fun. This time Rougeau slipped out of a powerslam, connected with the flying elbow ram and scored the quick pin!
Winner: Jacque Rougeau by pinfall -------- California State Heavyweight Title Match: Jerry Brisco (c) vs The Spoiler
Double champ Brisco (he also came to the ring with the Pacific Tag Title) had a stern test in the Spoiler who dominated most of the match and nearly scored the win on a number of occasions. Going in for the kill, he charged Brisco into the turnbuckle, only for Brisco to slip out, roll up The Spoiler and bridge into a pinning combination for the win! The Spoiler was upset after the fall, but Brisco was able to leave with the belt before any further action happened.
Winner and still California State Heavyweight Champion: Jerry Brisco by pinfall -------- Henry Irslinger & Tommy Rogers vs Tom Prichard & Ox Baker
Fun, and possibly surprising, 4-way brawl with Irslinger and Baker pairing off and Rogers and Prichard pairing off for most of the match. Most of the match consisted of various pin saves and other spots that led to all 4 guys in the ring at once. End came when Irslinger trapped Baker in an Armlock and got a submission as Rogers dropkicked Prichard out of the ring.
Winners: Henry Irslinger & Tommy Rogers by submission -------- Mike DiBiase vs Ivan Koloff
Surprised to see DiBiase this high up, as I think I've mainly seen him in prelim matches to this point. But then again, this appears to be more of a spot show, than a supercard. Anyway, DiBiase actually got a win here, rolling up Koloff quickly to the cheers of the crowd! Sort of a nothing match, but the crowd seemed happy to see DiBiase win one.
Winner: Mike DiBiase by pinfall -------- Jimmy Snuka & Curt Hennig vs Johnny & Greg Valentine
Another tag match that degenerated into a 4-way brawl, this time the Valentines went a bit too far, bloodying but Snuka and Hennig with chair shots on the outside leading to a DQ loss. Another short-ish match, good action while it lasted, as you'd expect from these four, but nothing to write home about.
Winners: Jimmy Snuka & Curt Hennig by DQ -------- Pacific Heavyweight Title Match: Great Gama (c) vs Steve Williams
I was beginning to wonder why this card was even included in this DVD set...and then I saw this match. Wow. This was a really intense, physical match that went quite a while. It was scheduled for a 1-hour time limit, and while it didn't go the whole way, it must have been close. The first part of the match was about Gama demonstrating why he was the champion, but not quite being able to finish off Williams. Williams came back and hit the Oklahoma Stampede...for 2.9! Williams started unloading his offense, until getting reversed leading to a Gama Throw...for 2.9! Gama was trying to set up his throw again, Williams fought his way out, hit Gama with a Football Tackle, and with his seemingly last ounce of energy covered Gama for the win and the title! Interesting that they put this on what looked otherwise to be something of a throw-away show, but I'm happy it was on this disc!
Winner and new Pacific Heavyweight Champion: Steve Williams --------- And after that classic, disc 5 goes dark...

Disc #6! Heard from my trading partner. Claims that they are putting together something to send at some point. Apparently, I've started something of a black market in lower division Eastern European football wherever/whenever they are from. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...
Anywho, here we are back at Tri-States. An announcing team runs down the card, making special mention that The Crusher might be looking ahead to a WWA World Title match, but he has a golden opportunity to go into that match as the Intercontinental Champion! Just then, as Ron Hutchinson was coming out for a match, Doug Gilbert blindsided him with a pipe! What the heck?! Hutchinson was carried out on a stretcher, as Doug Gilbert ran back to the locker room. After some delay, and some replays of the attack, we finally got into the first match on the card
Tugboat Taylor vs Blue Meanie
I don't really understand why you would pair these 2 together. Pretty flat match, Taylor threw Meanie out of the ring, slammed him on the outside, and came back in before the 10 count for the win.
Winner: Tugboat Taylor by countout --------- Northeastern Title Match: George Steele (c) vs Scott Taylor
This should have been subtitled "A Scott Taylor Carry Job", as Taylor really did mostly everything in this match. Steele did eventually go and eat the turnbuckle, but was disqualified to pushing the stuffing in his face and ended up retaining the title. This is such a top-heavy promotion...
Winner: Scott Taylor by DQ; George Steele retains Northeastern Title --------- Wild Bull Curry vs Justin Credible
Curry went...wild in this one, dominating from the start. He quickly put away Credible with a series of punches and scored the win.
Winner: Wild Bull Curry by pinfall --------- Wild Bill White & Brian Blair vs Mr. Hughes & Johnny Valiant
If I'm honest, I have a soft spot for Mr. Hughes. I have no idea why he's teaming with Johnny Valiant, nor why Valiant had 90% of this match. White and Blair showed some decent teamwork, but eventually Valiant got Blair in a compromising position and attempted to finish him off from the top. Blair countered with a powerslam and scored the 3 count before a diving Hughes could make the save for the win.
Winners: Wild Bill White & Brian Blair by pinfall --------- Masked Superstar vs Angelo Poffo
Now we start creeping toward the top half of the card. This one was fun, Superstar is someone I find very underrated. Poffo took this one after a neckbreaker, but was a lot more fun than what came before.
Winner: Angelo Poffo by pinfall --------- Larry Zbyszko vs Diamond Dallas Page
Two very different, but also in some fashion similar, guys in this one, and it made for an intriguing match. Zbyszko had more of the offense throughout, but sure enough, DDP hit the Diamond Cutter from nowhere and scored the 3! Another fun match between 2 guys that really know what they are good at, and stick to it.
Winner: Diamond Dallas Page by pinfall --------- Intercontinental Tag Team Title Match: Pampero Firpo & Baron Von Raschke (c) vs Luke Williams & Scott Casey
Oh. I forgot that these was the top of the tag division. I'm being unfair, this wasn't actually that bad, just a bit repetitive. Casey took a beating most of the match at the hands of the champs, until Williams snapped and attacked Firpo & Raschke with a chair. Firpo and Raschke didn't seem to mind that much, but the ref did, and he DQ'd the challengers
Winners and still Intercontinental Tag Team Champions: Pampero Firpo & Baron Von Raschke by DQ --------- Intercontinental Title Match: Buddy Rogers (c) vs The Crusher
I didn't think there was any chance Crusher wins the title given how close to the vest everyone is being with the WWA Tournament, but this was a great, great competitive match. Full marks to Rogers for pulling out that sort of performance from the somewhat one dimensional Crusher. Crusher nearly won the title a few times with both the Crusher Bolo and the Crusher Nelson, but eventually Rogers was able to put Crusher down and lock in the Figure 4 Grapevine. Crusher never submitted, but eventually his shoulders stayed down for 3 for the pinfall.
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: Buddy Rogers by pinfall

Back to the "Heart of America" for our next event. Big feud seems to be Orton & Brunzell vs the Roadies for the tag titles. This card promises a cage match between the teams, in addition to a Lou Thesz title defense against Steve Corino
Steve Richards vs Dan Severn
The Beast Train rolls on! Another choke sleeper, another submission win. Richards had little chance. Hope they start to do something more with Severn soon, as these squash matches are getting a bit old.
Winner: Dan Severn by submission -------- The Outlaw Billy Gunn vs Evan Lewis
Lewis didn't seem to fair much better than Richards (who I recall seeing him team with, and came out with similar looking trunks) as The Outlaw dominated this one and hit the Standing Leg Drop pretty quickly into the match to put away the Strangler.
Winner: Billy Gunn by pinfall -------- The Long Riders (Bill & Scott Irwin) vs Virgil & Hugh Morris
Three matches, three dominant performances, as the Long Riders made really quick work of the Virgil/Morris team. Bill hit Virgil with the double sledge and scored the pin.
Winners: The Long Riders by pinfall -------- Ted DiBiase vs Red Bastien
This was a fun, competitive and athletically minded match! DiBiase had the best of it, most of the way, but Bastien was able to hit the Atomic Drop for 2 on a couple of occasions. Reeling, DiBiase went to the loaded glove, hit Bastien and scored the win. Crowd was mad with the finish, but then again, there were supposed to be...
Winner: Ted DiBiase by pinfall -------- Bobo Brazil vs Killer Kowalski
Generally, I have found Heart of America a fun promotion, if I had one complaint, it would be that matches seem to be really short or REALLY long, and nothing in between. This ended up being the latter as a competitive battle went all the way to the 30 minute time limit, with the bell sounding as Kowalski was about to put the claw on Bobo.
Time-Limit Draw -------- Americas Title Match: Lou Thesz (c) vs Steve Corino
This one was on the short end, as Corino was not really competitive here in his title shot. Thesz took him to the mat pretty quickly, only letting Corino up to hit the Thesz Press and get the win. Somewhat disappointing match, expected more from Corino here. Not necessarily a title change, but didn't seem like a squash was the right move here.
Winner and still Americas Champion: Lou Thesz -------- Americas Tag Team Title Match - Steel Cage Match: Bob Orton Jr. & Jim Brunzell (c) vs The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk)
I keep waiting for the Road Warriors to win the titles, and they keep not doing it. This would seem to be the spot for them to win, while still keeping the more technically based Orton & Brunzell strong. And that looked like where they were going with this one as the Roadies dominated with their brawling much of the way and set up Brunzell for the Doomsday Device...and somehow Brunzell kicked out! The Roadies looked like they were in disbelief and that allowed Brunzell to make the tag. Some 2-on-2 action later, Orton had Hawk set up for a nice looking neckbreaker that got...3!?!? WOW! I guess the promotion must really like these guys!
Winners and still the Americas Tag Team Champions: Bob Orton Jr. & Jim Brunzell by pinfall
