1. Mike Quackenbush vs. Mr. X
A classic case of youth vs. experience, with nothing settled in the ring. After the action spilled to the outside, the referee couldn’t get it back in the ring. When both men repeatedly ignored his warnings, the referee had no choice but to throw the match out.
Result: Double Disqualification
2. Red Bastien vs. Buddy Rose
Red seemed to be in control of things most of the match, but the Playboy managed to get out of the ring to recover before Bastien could do too much damage. When Rose decided to throw Red into a post, the official called for a premature bell for the second time in two matches.
Result: Rose by DQ
3. Diamond Dallas Page vs. the Savage Snuka
Snuka brutalized DDP and controlled the entire match until DDP hit an out-of-nowhere DIAMOND CUTTER to get the pin. After recovering from the effects of the Cutter, Snuka was enraged!
Result: DDP by PIN with DIAMOND CUTTER
EWF Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals Match
4. Antonino Rocca & Ilio DiPaolo vs. Killer Kowalski & Yukon Eric[/b]
This was a great match. Both sides wrestled well, and it was clean for the most part. The end came when Rocca covered Kowalski for a pinfall and it was broken up by Yukon Eric, even though it looked like Kowalski might kick out anyway. Even though it wasn’t the first interference with a three-count that night, the referee decided to call for the bell. Post-match, Kowalski clearly was not pleased with his tag team partner.
Result: Rocca DQ Kowalski for excessive interference
EWF Tag Team Title Tournament Semifinals Match
5. Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens vs. Heartbreak Express
This was never a contest, as the Brain’s charges dissected their opponents with ruthless precision.
Result: Stevens PIN Sean Davis with BOMBS AWAY.
6. Mean Gene Interview Segment with the Heartbreak Express
MG: Sean Davis, Phil Davis, welcome to the Empire Wrestling Federation!
SD: It must be a pleasure interviewing such physical specimens like us.
MG: Excuse me?
SD: I know that interviewing guys like us can be intimidating. Don’t worry. Just ask some questions and we’ll carry the interview. But enough talk about you… Let’s talk about us!
MG: Well, it seems like your run to the titles ran out of steam tonight.
PD: Well, it’s true that we dropped a close contest to a great team. Bock and Stevens are two tough dudes. You couple that with the fact that neither of us were feeling well after trying that Cincinnati “chili” last night…. Well, we were due for a letdown.
SD: [Belch] No excuses. If we were going to lose, that was the only team that could have beaten us. You saw what happened to DiBiase and Williams.
MG: You defeated them by count out when Ted DiBiase chased you back to the locker room.
SD: Was that him chasing me? I thought that was one of those ugly broads we always run into here in Ohio.
MG: Would you stop?
PD: It’s an easy mistake. You should have seen these girls down at the Flats the night before. They were all a bunch of cows, but they wouldn’t leave us alone. After that experience, I can understand why Sean got out of there as fast as he did.
MG: [Sighing] Knowing now that it WAS Ted DiBiase chasing you, which led to the count out victory, what does that say about your opponents last week.
SD: It says that DiBiase knew that he could never beat “Fabulous Phil” so he gave up and intentionally got himself counted out.
MG: I am sure that Ted DiBiase would dispute that. He and Steve Williams must be eager for a rematch. Would you two be open to that?
PD: If they want to lose again, we’d be happy to deliver another loss to them. After all, we’re the best at what we do. Anywhere we go, we’re not just the life of the party… we are THE party!
SD: But be forewarned! When The Heartbreak Express comes to town two things are bound to happen. Number one: the Standing Room Only signs will be hanging in the lobby as there won’t be an empty seat in the house. Number two: divorce rates are gonna go through the roof as the ladies of your area see the first real men they have ever laid their eyes on and they'll never settle for their "average" men again!
MG: There you have it folks. The number one contender’s match is up next!
EWF Title #1 Contender Match
7. Ed “Strangler” Lewis vs. King Kong Bundy
This was an interesting pairing, featuring the technical prowess of the Strangler against the massive size of Bundy. The battle see sawed back and forth. Lewis was unable to completely wear down his larger opponent. On the other hand, Bundy seemed unable to bring the full advantage of his size to bear. This match ended outside the ring, and when the referee called for the bell, the crowd went home commenting more about the fourth disqualification of the night rather than the exceptional action in each of those matches.
Result: Ed Lewis DQ King Kong Bundy
