So I've never played any COTG, just the indy sets. Where is best to start with champions. Do you need to get each set for it to make sense or is there some you can skip or a certain point to jump in. The black death story line looks very interesting but I duno how much I'd need before it

2119 and 2125 have starter sets. Since you're interested in Black Death, starting at 2125 may be the way to go.

2125 definitely allows you to get the full Black Death story (which starts in 27 anyways)

Does it come with a story. Like in black death I noticed it said about a new group and shocking defections or is it just cards like legends and indys

All of the COTG "years" come with the a handbook that has the "storyline" for that year.
I would agree with those above who said that is the spot to start if you want to get to Black Death.
And if you like it, I would definitely recommend going back and getting 2087...the history of the GWF from the "start" nothing like it!

2125 is a great jumping on point

I know it may feel like your years away . But I would start at the beginning and build up your history

Since I lost alot my fed's history stats from my original COTG fed in a move (which is why I now do my COTG feds on the board too so I can have an electronic backup,) I started a COTG fed just doing the color card years beginning with 2125 (the first COTG color card set) and I am now up to 2131.
I also have a color card fed that started in 2087 and at some point (probably many years later and if the older COTG sets keep getting released in color) these two chapters will eventually connect to each other.
For Black Death, I agree 2125 is the best place to start as that set includes all of the color cards you need to begin your fed and it is not that far away from the Black Death years.

It's funny you say that Vegas, I know my original fed 1990-2002ish my original laptop crashed and I lost all my results. My second fed 2005-2010 I posted a lot on the boards but couldnt find any of my title histories.
This fed I also have backed up on one drive but I try and share my spreadsheet every so often on here so of I did lose everything I would least have that. I think I also have sent multiple copies of said sheet to different emails and saved their too.
I wish I still had or could find my original fed results ...

It’s a tough question. It’s really hard to not start w 2087 if you want to build up a legit history using some of the all-time greats.
2125 is the right place to start if you want to play the Black Death stories.
Another option is to buy 2137 and all the sets (prob 4 or 5) needed to play it and just jump right in to the current stuff. Always great being caught up and in the loop.
