I brought my headphones to the library so I could listen to this show. I really enjoyed your review of the Tragos/Thesz set, and the thought process that went into writing the cards. Thanks for listening to my idea about moving Piper's FOREIGN OBJECT from a Level 3 Offense finisher to a defensive counter. It just seems more realistic that way. This is another example of why this is the best game around. The people in charge actually listen to the paying customers--which is more than what I can say for WWE, but that's a rant for another time! A very special thanks for giving a shout-out to wrestling promoter Herb Simmons. I'll be going with some friends on July 24th to see Herb's Fan Appreciation Show in East Carondelet, IL--his first show since the pandemic. A side note--he's also the St. Clair County, IL Emergency Services Director! He was on St. Louis TV quite a bit this past year in that role. It'll be great to see him back in his other role as promoter. By the way, Cowboy Bob Orton helps train wrestlers for Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling. My friends & I went an SICW show a couple of years ago when he brought in Arn Anderson, Barry Windham & J.J. Dillon. It was the first Simmons show we saw, and we enjoyed it very much. We talked to him briefly after the show about how we grew up watching Wrestling At The Chase, and how Larry Matysik & Bruiser Brody used to come to our hometown of Centralia, IL to promote shows with a local funeral director. He was very nice. My friend's wife approached him during the main event and asked if she could take a picture of the belt. He did one better--he took a picture of her holding the belt! Herb's a class act. Please let me know if you have him as a guest on your podcast. Herb is a great guy and will be attending the TNTHOF show this weekend! I've thought about having him on our podcast sometime in the future. He's got a great show booked for October 30 when Lawler, Jimmy Hart, Demolition, the Nasty Boys, and the Rock n Roll Express all scheduled to appear. I might head down for it.

If we are able to have Herb on in the near future, we will make sure you know. Thanks for listening!

I remember when people hated that but most of the time, those illegal moves came on defense so it makes total sense. Looking forward to seeing the Olsons this weekend.

Great episode friends! Loved the stories of signings and card development for this groundbreaking set! And in honor of Cory Olson watching Body Slam here's the soundtrack. I only saw the movie once but I had the soundtrack and listened to it on repeat. It's maximum 80s! Looking forward to the next episode.

This episode was fantastic. I am so excited to get to see y’all in the flesh and share some beers and talk wrestling. I am already thinking about how to use the set, and most of the guys already have a place in my fed!

Finally got around to listening to this one. Another really fun one. I always enjoy these episodes where you guys go through and talk about the signings, card mechanics and the wrestlers overall careers.
A few thoughts I had while listening…
John Pesek - I love the slight changes that were made to his card. Giving him more of a chance to be DQed as an enforcer and the single defensive tag are really smart. I wonder if it would be possible to get his son in the game someday…
Kurt Angle – Obviously such a HUGE signing. I’m super excited to get him into my fed and run some dream match against guys like Lou Thesz, Frank Gotch and others. Again love the mechanic with his finisher getting stronger as the match goes on. Again, really smart.
Don Curtis –He’s never been one that I was particularly drawn to while typing up articles for my site but I absolutely love that he’s in the game. It’s amazing to get anyone from that era and he was a pretty major star in the New York area. He’ll be a great option when needing a clean-cut babyface.
Gorilla Monsoon – I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Monsoon wrestle but I’m very interested to track some matches down now. I enjoy monster heels like this. It will be interesting to see whether he makes his way to my fed as a wrestler or announcer first.
Thunderbolt Patterson – Another one that I don’t know very well but am really excited that he is included. I don’t know when I’ll use his card but I also enjoy a good brawler. The art is unique as well with the full body piece. I actually think I have a Thunderbolt Patterson 8x10 somewhere. I don’t entirely know why I bought it since I definitely didn’t know much about him back then but it must have been the right price and I threw it in with some other stuff when ordering from Highspots in highschool or college.
William Muldoon – I’m really looking forward to using this card. He seems like he’s going to be a beast! And his card is definitely built for long matches, as it should be.
Roddy Piper – I’m just so happy he’s officially signed and hope that he can one day be available for Online.
