Just got done listening and was taking notes on the topics discussed while listening...


I'd rather not have a young Hennig, DiBiase or Rude. I'd rather see just their prime career represented. I currently use b/w Rude with Manny Fernandez. Guys like Jimmy Valiant & Missing Link/Dewey Robertson I'm ok with since it's very different characters.

Alternate personas I'd like to see: Mongols, Java Ruuk, Super Destroyers, Dark Patriot, Akeem (if possible), Bull Pain, Aldo Montoya, Ken Jugan (Lord Zoltan's alternate personoa that was a regular enhancement guy in WWF), Pvt Jim Nelson & we have several Executioners (Killer Kowalski, Buddy Rose, Terry Gordy, Randy Savage, George South) that would love to see a random Executioners team. I'm pretty sure it was said PCO had a set time to make stuff for him but Jean-Pierre LaFitte & also Bash (with Bill DeMott's Crash) as the Terminators would be fun.

I'd be a bit disappointed with a full set of remakes. I mixed b/w & color so a full set of guys where I'm not getting a few new names doesn't appeal to me.

I like having themed sets but having a "no theme" set like Tim mentioned would be great to get some people that have been signed but don't fit into plans. Maybe a thought going forward have 3 themed sets & 1 "no theme" set each year.

In my indies sets when a wrestler passes away I move them to my legends fed. So Brodie Lee, Danny Havoc, Chri$ Ca$h & JT Lightning are used in my legends sets. I think it would be cool to get a Brodie & even Havoc in legends.

Also not sure if Mike Mondo was actually signed or just someone we got through ROH for the 1st ROH set but Kenny & Mikey Spirit Squad cards would be fantastic!

Texas & Florida are the two territories I'd like to see. A 90s themed set since it was brought up there's several from that era signed without releases & I'd love another 80s themed set. A full set of enhancement talent would be amazing and it's done well on the poll here on the board to show it actually is something people would want.

And I like the idea of having some sort of mechanic where a wrestler is better in a certain area than others.

Huh, I guess I missed the Mid-South part of it and selectively heard Memphis. 😕
I realize the USWA was essentially the Memphis territory after the split with the AWA and World Class.

I think themed sets are especially more exciting as the build-up to the announcements. Knowing we have a Memphis set coming in December has already gotten us to 14 pages on the board of speculation of who could be in a set thats still 5 months away. Had it not had a theme the speculation fun wouldn't be there because it could literally be anyone.

Once I get the set I don't care as much whether it's themed or not, just that I have some new cards to add to my fed.

I thought it was said mainly Memphis but that it was Tennessee based set and it was followed up with a Nick or George Gulas joke.

If we do by chance get the FABULOUS ONES, with Keirn and an alternate Lane, then I'd want an alternate Keirn too. Florida version, when he and Mike Graham was a tremendous team. Promoter Prime possibly... I know, I know - I'm Keirn greedy.

And that's understandable...Keirn is tremendously underrated and if Vince J. had listened to Eddie, Keirn might have had that long title run instead of Bob Backlund.

Very much enjoyed the pod this week.

My two cents, if actually interested, is Themes are nice, but if people aren't interested, probably sales are or can be hurt by that. (A really beloved theme like the 80's, probably not.)
However, the T/T sets are not really theme. Sure they have a coming bond, but the guys in them are actually pretty random. And those sets are the absolute freak'n best!

Additional cents, I love "pioneer" era guys. Pre-World War, as in the "Great" war! Guys from the other turn of the century. I know they are hard to research and create, but the more we get of them the more we can use our vintage charts!

Granted, it doesn't really matter what era, territory or theme is released.. I'll still buy it and love it.

I believe I said "Mid-Southern", which is what the Apter mags called the Memphis promotion, as opposed to "Mid-South", which was the McGuirk/Watts territories that became the UWF. I didn't intend to bring Mid-South/UWF into the discussion. Sorry for the confusion!

So JYD or Butch Reed in this set, especially since they're not signed... yet!

The themes thing is really getting to the point where, as already discussed, it can be sort of an albatross. Good cards aren't getting made while the team waits for the right theme for a set to fit them in. I liked the random nature of a lot of those old b/w expansions. I'm satisfied with just a good assortment of cards. Besides, the vast majority of us just buy everything anyway so what does it matter? And the members of this board aren't the only ones out there, so there are lots of newer players who won't know or care that an entire expansion set is "remakes", so that's okay by me too
