JIM BARNETT and EDDIE GRAHAM see the writing on the wall and form a partnership with PREDATOR PROMOTIONS PRO, both subsequently withdrawing from the NWA.
Bill Watts and his MID-SOUTH WRESTLING was asked to join the revolution, but declined. He has UWF aspirations of his own.
MAJOR LEAGUE WRESTLING is born.
This is a bold move, but these two proud promotions (Georgia - Florida) refuse to be gobbled up by the Wrestling machine that is surely coming.
The first card will be in the OMNI in Atlanta, GA on 02/07/82 and will crown the first MLW WORLD CHAMPION.
'Wildfire' TOMMY RICH has just won the National Hwt. Championship from the MASKED SUPERSTAR 01/17/82 and will take on Florida's Soutern Hwt. Champion DAVID VON ERICH to determine the first World Champion.
Florida's North American tag team Champions JACK & JERRY BRISCOE will take on Georgia's National Tag Team Champions MASKED SUPERSTAR & SUPER DESTROYER to crown the first MLW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS.
