Very cool discussion of the best champions. Nice to hear the shoutouts again, but not quite sure how Cory couldn't pronounce Valour!

My personal choices would be Flair, Sammartino (very tough choice here) and Tricky Nicky.

but not quite sure how Cory couldn't pronounce Valour! Fair point, Matt. It had been so long since I played with him, I thought it was pronounced like "valor" but I thought that seemed too simple for a COTG character.

My choices would go Bockwinkel, Flair & Hogan
I was also at that Legends of the Aud show in Buffalo. I grew up 2 blocks away from Ilio DiPaolo's restaurant and would often go after WWF shows in town to see the wrestlers go there afterwards.
In my feds when someone reaches 12 on their pin I'll call it a knockout and they can't continue. I'll let it keep going until they have to roll their pin. If Add 1's keep piling on it can keep adding up. After the match they roll 1 die for injury, on 13 it's 2 dice, 14 is 3 dice for injury and so on.

Great show. This topic is right up my alley. The easy answers are Bruno, Flair, and Nick. BUT, I really have come to appreciate Jack Brisco going back and watching his stuff.
Hulk Hogan is the undisputed most famous wrestler of all time and had such a great first reign with so many great opponents. You can't discount his talent as far as knowing what to do and when to do it in the ring. His timing, awareness, and ability to sell far outweighed his technical deficits. But to me "his" WWF was as different a beast from Bruno as the Cena WWE years are from 80s Hogan era. I suppose I'd say Hogan was the first great "sports entertainment" champion and Bruno was the last great WWF pro wrestling champion.
Thesz? I just don't know how the reality stacks up the the legend. When I'd hear the older guys my grandfather's age talk about wrestling when I was a kid it was always mention of Jim Londos, Whipper Watson, or Pat O'Connor depending on where they grew up. Thesz seldom made it into the discussion. (Side note: funny the mention of Rufus and odd regional favorites on the podcast. I'm over here on the Illinois/Indiana border and the guys who grew up before me always mention Dick The Bruiser and.....Spike Huber.)
AWA is hands down Nick and nobody else is in the discussion. Verne I just can't count as the "promoter champ". TBF, as mentioned, we've all seen the same footage so maybe prime Verne was awesome, but it seems to me he kept himself in the title mix waaaay longer than he should have and it probably hurt business long term. Nick, on the other hand, was credible well into his later years and could work with anyone.
So there are my answers. But if I can shift to a more just parallel dimensions, my answers are Jimmy Snuka, Rick Rude, and Steve "Mr Electricity" Regal (you know, after an epic world tag title run with his partner Spike Huber).

Just makes me want Spike in Legends even more to team him with Regal.
