The statement was posted by AEW and Jaguars legal person saying They are working together to honour the legacy of Owen Hart. This will include the annual Owen Hart Cup Tournament in AEW as well as the production and distribution of unique and original Owen merchandise, including specified retail goods as well as the upcoming AEW console video game.
Hopefully this means Owen will be a playable character and not just including the Owen Hart Cup.

I've been waiting for AEW to start up an annual Cup tournament, but totally didn't expect it to be tied in with Owen. I know that Pro Wrestling Tees has had a relationship with Martha since the Dark Side of the Ring doc last year, so I'm sure thats how this all came together. very interesting development.

AEW posted a statement themselves with a bit more info. Says it includes opportunities to develop Owen Hart figures, apparel, posters and additional collectable merchandise.

She doesn't want him in the HOF but does this. Oh yea, no $ from a HOF induction.

I dont know, I completely get the move on her part. Prolly took a lot from her to come back and do the dark side episode and then maybe struck up a friendship with Jericho who helped repair that bridge. Not sure I could deal with the WWE after that, too many corporations treat their employees like cogs in the wheel and not as people. She lost the love of her life to that company for a mistake they made. Kind of see why she would not want anything to do with them.

You have to look at the relationship Wwe has/had with the whole Hart family especially around that time. Vince/Bret has obviously been well documented and there was a lot of hear towards the company for Owens death. A lot of people viewed it as dangerous and a pointless stunt that cut short a bright career. Over the years WWE has done nothing to show they treat the talent any better than how they did whereas AEW seems to have the reputation of being more like a family Backstage. I know Brodie Lee's widow can't speak highly enough of them and the Backstage crew for being there for her. I think this is a chance for wrestling fans to remember Owen and his legacy somewhere fresh. It's a fresh start for his family.

She doesn't want him in the HOF but does this. Oh yea, no $ from a HOF induction. I don’t really bother with TV wrestling much so I don’t really have a horse in the AEW vs. WWE race. Removing the very valid reasons for her bad blood with WWE, you have to consider that the WWE HOF isn’t a legitimate HOF. They don’t have a physical location, a voting system conducted by industry experts , or any sort of established benchmark for a HOF career. It’s essentially a free promotional arm for a massive publicly traded company. And personally I don’t fault her for monetizing his memory. Highspots, shoot interviews, and the entire convention circuit wouldn’t be as prominent if it wasn’t the norm for retired wrestlers and their surviving families to monetize their legacy.
