I just wanted to give everybody a brief overview of where I'm at in terms of character creations in the upcoming North American Wrestling Alliance - Tri-State fictional independent promotion; with some brief notes that'll hopefully tell you where my head's at in terms of the characters I'm still working on, in case someone has any suggestions about them
COMPLETED CHARACTERS:
1. Devon Bridges (based on fantasy wrestler "Barnestormer" David Barnes)
6' 0"; 255 lbs.; Paducah, KY
Finishing Move: BOTW (BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS) - Devon springboards off the middle rope and moonsaults over his opponent before executing a sitout facebuster
2. "Loose Cannon" Terry Brooks (based on former Heartland Wrestling Association star "Human Time Bomb" Austin Ambrose)
6' 1"; 250 lbs.; Hope, MI
Finishing Move: CANNON FODDER - While standing on the middle turnbuckle, Terry grabs his opponent in a sleeper hold and executes a tornado sleeper slam
3. Myles Benedict (based on former Heartland Wrestling Association/current WWE UK commentator Nigel McGuinness)
5' 11"; 17 Stones (244 lbs.); London, England, UK
Finishing Move: LONDON CALLING - a double chicken wing lung blower
4. Ilyago Fedorovich (I didn't really have any former HWA star in mind for Ilyago to base on, except for maybe for Foreign Intelligence team member Ala Hussein.)
6' 3"; 267 lbs.; Chernyobl, Russia
Finishing Move: EXCLUSION ZONE - Ilyago executes a pumphandle DDT and then locks his legs around his opponent's waist as he transitions into a guillotine choke
5. "Mr. Suplex" Roger Spence (If anything, Roger is based on former HWA star, Foreign Intelligence team member "HIgh IQ" Quentin Lee)
6' 1"; 210 lbs.; (Hometown to be determined)
Finishing Move: X-SPENCE - Roger picks up his opponent for a One-Winged Angel (one-handed electric chair driver), but then falls backward and drops his opponent to the mat
7. "Hurt Machine" Mason Corvus (Mason is not based on any wrestler in either of the two stories I'm looking to re-tell. His name came up in a random name generator I was playing with and I liked the name because it sort of reminded me of former NWA-TNA wrestler "Alpha Male" Monty Brown.)
6' 2"
305 lbs.
Montreal, Quebec Canada
Finishing Move: HURT DRIVER - a wheelbarrow variation of the Tombstone piledriver
8. Tina Brooks (based on former HWA female star Tina Ambrose)
5' 6"; 145 lbs.; Hope, MI
Finishing Moves: PUMPHANDLE SUPLEX; EXPLODER SUPLEX
Manages the Tina Lover's Club (Devon Bridges, Terry Brooks, and Myles Benedict)
(created on Xbox One version of WWE 2K19 under the name Tracey Brooks)
9. "Queen" Francine Castle (If anything, she'll be based on former HWA female star Hellena Heavenly, but the only part Hellena served in my story is a minor role in the back story of the Tina Ambrose-Nigel McGuinness divorce story in the HWA, when she helped Tina attack Bobbi Jo Jablonski, who had secretly videotaped a romantic pass that former HWA commissioner Patrick Black made on Tina, in the hopes of getting their hands on the video when Bobbi threatened to give it to Nigel.)
5' 11"; 200 lbs.; Hollywood, CA
Finishing Move: QUEEN'S GAMBIT - a spinning pumphandle Samoan slam
(originally created on Xbox One version of WWE 2K19)
CHARACTERS STILL IN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE:
1. Lacey Logan (based on former HWA female star Bobbi Jo Jablonski)
5' 11"; 174 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
Finishing Move: JOCKSTRAP - a pumphandle overhead release suplex
Manages the Varsity Boys (Nathan and Vincent Logan)
(created on Xbox One version of WWE 2K19 under the name Hailey Jayden)
2. Kayla Hill (based on Portia Perez, whom I used in my Heartland Elite Wrestling promotion)
5' 8"; 140 lbs.; Toledo, OH
Finishing Move: KAYLA-TO-BELLY - a belly-to-belly suplex. Sometimes, she'll hit the move off the top turnbuckle (Basically, this is a Bayley To Belly, because I created Kayla on the Xbox One version of WWE 2K19)
3. "Bombshell" Angelina Spencer
5' 8"; 210 lbs.; Reno, NV
Finishing Move: DROP THE BOMBSHELL - a standing Spanish Fly
(originally created on Xbox One version of WWE 2K19)
4. "Winter Rose" Rosalita Aguilar
5' 5"; 167 lbs; Tijuana, Mexico
(Finishing Move TBD)
(not a WWE 2K19 creation or based on any female wrestler in any of the stories I'm looking to re-tell. She's basically just a character I'm creating to fill roster slots. I picked the name out of a random name generator.)
5. "Bollywood Diva" Dava Patel (not a WWE 2K19 creation or based on any female wrestler in any of the stories I'm looking to re-tell. She's basically just a character I'm creating to fill roster slots. I picked the name from a website of Indian female baby names and surnames. I don't even remember the name of the site I went to. She's supposed to be an aspiring Bollywood actress, but I really don't know much about the Bollywood genre, so choosing a finishing move and name would be highly difficult for me. Her ring gear should reflect the flashy colorful dresses that Bollywood actors/actresses wear on the movie screen. Not a whole lot of thought was put into her character. I'm originally envisioning her as a babyface, mainly for the fact that she's very beautiful (at least in my mind), maybe looking similar to the actresses who played the Patel sisters in the Harry Potter movie series, if that serves as any reference, however, she could also be viewed as a heel, given her "diva" moniker.)
5' 5"
166 lbs.
"Bollywood", India (I'm not sure if there really is a place in India known as Bollywood. Just like Hollywood is technically a suburb of Los Angeles, for all I know, Bollywood could be a suburb of another city in India. Therefore, for now, let's just use the quotation marks around Bollywood)
9. Jessica Brooke Lynne
5' 10"; 175 lbs.; Brooklyn, NY
(Finishing Move TBD)
(created on Xbox One version of WWE 2K19, but never used in any capacity.)
Technically, Kayla Hill and Jessica Brooke Lynne pre-date WWE 2K19. I don't remember which WWE game I created them for. They could've been originally created in WWE 2K12, which was the last to feature Create-A-Story mode. Nevertheless, neither of them was used until I updated and started using Kayla in WWE 2K19. Originally, Jessica was supposed to be the heel who had a rivalry with Kayla.
10. Dustin Carpenter (based on former HWA star "Buffalo Bad Boy" Brian Jennings, or 4BJ, for short)
5' 10"; 222 lbs. (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Musketeers (w/Duane Eaton and Diego Garcia)
In one of the stories I'm looking to re-tell, during the chase for the NAWA-TS Heavyweight title, he is put out of action for several shows by Upper Crust member Chadwick Pennington, sparking a heated rivalry between the two. During the chase, he develops a romantic relationship with Kayla Hill, who becomes pregnant with his child. Several months later during the pregnancy storyline, Kayla is run over in the parking lot by a speeding vehicle. While she's shaken up, the "accident" causes her to miscarry. Dustin blames Chadwick for the attack on Kayla, but he denies any wrongdoing.
11. Chadwick Pennington (based on former HWA star "MTV Reality Star" Rory Fox)
6' 3"; 209 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Upper Crust (w/Reginald Wiggins and Conrad Winston)
The idea I had in mind for the Upper Crust stable is a kind difficult one for me to accurately describe. They're basically your movie-stereotypical rich snobs. They come from Ivy League schools, their parents are filthy rich, giving them the entitled attitude that "I'm better than you because 'Mummy and Daddy' just bought me this brand new $500,000 Maserati and you get to drive around in some rusted-out Ford Escort that my car probably crapped out of its exhaust last night while I was partying at the hottest club you'll never get into, no matter how well you think you dress in your discount Walmart clothes" while talking through clenched teeth and lips while looking their noses down on you. Trying to come up with consistent promos while improving that sort of entitled attitude would be difficult for me, having not been raised in that type of environment, as I'm typically what you would call the "middle-class workingman" who earns the money he gets for what he buys.
12. Duane Eaton (not exactly based off on anybody I used in the original Heartland Elite Wrestling storyline, so let's say that he's representing former HWA star Chris Carnage, who I did use in the original HEW story)
6' 2"; 211 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Musketeers (w/Dustin Carpenter and Diego Garcia)
Chris Carnage really didn't play that big of a role in my HEW storyline where 4BJ and Portia Perez had their romantic fling. He basically served a supporting role, as did former HWA star Matt Stryker (not the same as the Matt Striker in the WWE). That's pretty much the same role that Eaton (not related to the late "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton, BTW) and Diego Garcia.
13. Reginald Wiggins (based on former HWA star and Black Army stable member Benjamin Kimera)
6' 3"; 246 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Upper Crust (w/Chadwick Pennington and Conrad Winston)
14. Diego Garcia (not really based on former HWA star Matt Stryker, but in the re-telling of my story, he'll serve in the same supporting role as I had for Stryker in the original story.)
6' 0; 202 lbs.; (Hometown TBD, but he will be from somewhere in South America)
Finishing Move: MINA DE DIAMANTE (translated as DIAMOND MINE, thanks to "topdollar" on the Filsinger Games Discussion Board) Diego grabs his opponent in a 3/4 nelson headlock and begins to execute a springboard (or is it "slingshot"?) Sliced Bread #2. When he is completely vertical over his opponent's head, he spins his opponent around and converts it into a Diamond Cutter.
Stable Affiliation: Musketeers (w/Dustin Carpenter and Duane Eaton)
Regardless of whatever South American country that I decide to call his home, Diego was trained in Mexico in the Lucha style of wrestling and is considered a technico. I haven't really decided about his back story before coming to Tri-State Wrestling. He may have, at one time in the Mexican circuit, wrestled under a mask and lost it in a mask vs. mask match, or he could just have wrestled his early career without a mask. His character is still pretty much in early development. He will serve a supporting role in the upcoming Dustin Carpenter-Chadwick Pennington rivalry/Dustin Carpenter-Kayla Hill romance story angle.
15. Conrad Winston (based off former HWA star and Black Army member "Bad Seed" Shaun Osborne. Wiggins and Winston serve primarily as support characters, as the main focus would be on Carpenter and Pennington.)
6' 0"; 210 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Upper Crust (w/Chadwick Pennington and Reginald Wiggins)
16. Ofo Sapani (based on former HWA star O.G. Ekmo/former WWE star Jamal/Umaga, but will be more associatively based on WWE star Jimmy Uso in terms of size and in-ring ability)
6' 0"; 207 lbs.; Island of Samoa
(Finishing Move TBD; Double-Team Finishing Move (if any) TBD)
Tag Team: Samoan War Party (w/Ula Sapani)
17. Ula Sapani (based on former HWA star Kimo/former WWE star Rosey, but will be more associatively based on WWE star Jay Uso in terms of size and in-ring ability)
6' 0"; 213 lbs.; Island of Samoa
(Finishing Move TBD; Double-Team Finishing Move (if any) TBD)
Tag Team: Samoan War Party (w/Ula Sapani)
Ofo and Ula Sapani are brothers (I haven't decided whether or not they're twins or if one is older than the other.) who come are the latest generation of the legendary Sapani wrestling family. (This is sort of my nod to the Anoa'i family, who produced "High Chief" Peter Miavia, the "Wild Samoans" Afa and Sika, the "Samoan Swat Team/Head Shrinkers" Samu and Fatu/Rikishi, Duane "The Rock" Johnson, and more recently, Roman Reigns and the Usos.) Many of their predecessors have also wrestled for the North American Wrestling Alliance in one of its territories, so their family name is well known in the NAWA community. They'll be having their sights set on tag titles during their time in NAWA. They can be classified either as babyfaces or heels, but as the Islanders (OG Ekmo and Kimo) primarily worked as babyfaces in the HWA, only turning heel when they were called up to the WWE and became 3 Minute Warning, I used them in my Heartland Elite Wrestling promotion as babyfaces and am most likely going to do the same for the Samoan War Party.
18. Nathan Logan (based on former HWA star Chet "The Jet" Jablonski)
6' 2"; 218 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD; One of Chet Jablonski's finishing moves was HIT THE SHOWERS, which I recently learned from their former manager Brock Guffman was basically a Doomsday Device in which the opponent was perched on Chet's shoulders while Dean delivered the clothesline off the top turnbuckle.)
Tag Team: Varsity Boys (w/Vincent Logan)
19. Vincent Logan (based on former HWA star Dean "The Dream" Jablonski)
6' 2"; 207 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD; Dean Jablonski's finishing move was the DREAM WEAVER, a face claw variation of the chokeslam. He would literally grab his opponent in a face claw and then pick him up and slam him to the mat like a chokeslam. (At least, that's the move I saw him consistently use in the HWA to finish off his opponents. Apparently, he had another finisher at one time known as the NIGHTMARE STRETCH, but I never saw him use it, and there's no description given for it in any old website.))
Tag Team: Varsity Boys (w/Nathan Logan)
BONUS CHARACTER IN DEVELOPMENT:
1. "Natural" Buddy Sanders (based on the Filsinger Games version of Nick Bockwinkel)
5' 11"; 214 lbs.; (Hometown TBD)
Finishing Move: STF FULL NELSON
Technically, Buddy Sanders is not based in the Tri-State territory of NAWA. His main territory is NAWA Mid-West (NAWA-MW). I'm including him because he is supposed to be the current NAWA National Heavyweight champion at the time I'm ready to begin my second story, if and when Devon Bridges earns his opportunity at the National Heavyweight title, having held onto the belt for at least 5 years, as he and Sanders are going to have a long rivalry over the title, complete with his manager Tina Brooks being abducted by henchmen working for Sanders, who dresses her in a dog suit (the inspiration for that original story came from the Dungeon Dice Monsters 4-part episode of Yu-Gi-Oh.) and forcing her to perform "stupid dog tricks" in an attempt to throw Devon off his game because he's too worried about rescuing Tina to bother going after the National title. This all culminates in the first-ever Shock Collar Match (a match I created years ago. In the original story, Tina Ambrose was supposed to turn on me mid-match due to Stockholm Syndrome by activating my shock collar, but the shock collars never came into play during the match, and I was forced to do the heel turn post-match. I'm hoping this time around that if the opportunity arises, Tina Brooks can turn on Devon Bridges the way I'd originally intended.)
"BACK BURNERED" CHARACTERS (No place currently in mind for these characters yet, but I'll probably introduce them sometime in the future):
1. Bubba Jack Baldwin
6' 2"; 205 lbs.; Hollywood, California Trailer Park
(Finishing Move TBD; Double-Team Move (if any) TBD)
Tag Team: Hollywood Rednecks (w/Dewie Jackson)
The team of the Hollywood Rednecks was sort of inspired by the old Jeff Foxworthy "You Might Be A Redneck" series of jokes. It got me to thinking one day, "what if there are people living in Hollywood who lived in trailer parks and acted like the Beverly Hillbillies. Bubba Jack could be considered the "redneck black sheep" of the Baldwin family that nobody (and I do mean NOBODY) ever talks about. Dean "Shark Boy" Roll has a similar "Baldwin black sheep" character he created for himself known as Dean Baldwin, but his character's not a "redneck"
2. Dewie Jackson
6' 1"; 205 lbs.; Hollywood, California Trailer Park
(Finishing Move TBD; Double-Team Move (if any) TBD)
Tag Team: Hollywood Rednecks (w/Bubba Jack Baldwin)
Dewie is sort of the amalgamation of Duane "The Rock" Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson if you're wondering where I came up with the name. He lives in the same trailer park as Bubba Jack, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they were held back in the same grade several years together in school (if they even went to school).
3. Amy Zahn
5' 7"; 174 lbs. (Hometown TBD, maybe "Amazon Prime" (?))
Finishing Move: AMAZON PRIME (Move description TBD)
As you can probably guess, Amy Zahn's name is a pun of the word Amazon. (I can't seem to get away from pun names, can I?) I don't have a current spot for her, which is why I haven't given too much thought to her.
4. (Name TBD)
(Height, Weight & Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Tag Team: Soul Squad (w/Partner Name TBD)
5. (Name TBD)
(Height, Weight & Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Tag Team: Soul Squad (w/Partner Name TBD)
The name Soul Squad only recently came into my head as a tag team name. Obviously from the sound of the name, it will feature two African-American wrestlers. Since I haven't even picked out names for the team members or even thought about the kind of finishing move or double team finishing move I want to give them, I have no idea whether or not they'll be faces or heels. I'm mostly concentrating on the ones I'm already currently developing.
***
In a nutshell, that's where I stand on character creations. I haven't given any thought to other characters that will fill slots in the other territories I've created for NAWA, except for Buddy Sanders, who will be from the Mid-West territory as stated earlier. I'm entertaining the notion of having other promoters take one of the other territories and making their own roster. If I go that direction, keep in mind that:
1. The wrestlers and teams must have a "local promotion" flavor to them, as they could fill in very well as enhancement talent in either ROH or even AEW.
and 2nd and most importantly, regardless of who's your top champion in your territory, Buddy Sanders must always be the National Heavyweight champion in order for my second story to work when it comes time.

5' 8"; 210 lbs.; Reno, NV
Finishing Move: DROP THE BOMBSHELL - a standing Spanish Fly

5' 10"; 222 lbs. (Hometown TBD)
(Finishing Move TBD)
Stable Affiliation: Musketeers (w/Duane Eaton and Diego Garcia)

13. Reginald Wiggins (based on former HWA star and Black Army stable member Benjamin Kimera)

Finishing Move: MINA DE DIAMANTE (translated as DIAMOND MINE, thanks to "topdollar" on the Filsinger Games Discussion Board) Diego grabs his opponent in a 3/4 nelson headlock and begins to execute a springboard (or is it "slingshot"?) 15.
