So at IWA DS carnage Cup Blaine Evans has apparently cut off the finger of John Rare with bolt cutters.
In a statement posted on his fb Evans said "you damn right I did, like I said an eye for a eye this time you stabbed the wrong sum**** with that boxcutter"
Now I've not seen carnage cup, IWA is usually one of the ones I see as kinda pointless deathmatch for the most part compared to other guys out there who do it, and a very negative spotlight on DM wrestling. It seems to have divided opinion with some people saying its a work and other people saying he legit cut off his finger.
Has anyone seen this event or what is your opinions on this incident?

My opinion is this: if this is true, it’s one of the most effed up things I’ve ever heard and the guy should be arrested and charged with mayhem (an offense against the person in which the offender violently deprives his victim of a member of his body, thus making him less able to defend himself). Sometimes I’m embarrassed to be a wrestling fan. This is one of them.

They are billing it like it was a recept for a previous incident but from the photo during the match it looks more like a work. Also he cut the tip of his finger off. The fingernail is still attached but enough of the finger is gone that you can see a lot of the nail and its a mess. Not a clean, smooth cut. I love deathmatch wrestling. GCW especially have been killing it lately but sadly its companies and stupid spots like this that make headlines and cast a shadow on the entire scene

As horrific as it sounds, this doesn’t take me by surprise. After the original Boodrow /Rare box cutter stabbing there was talk for years that someone was going to purposely get shot or purposely cut off a finger or toe. Years ago there was a (unconfirmed) rumor that John Wayne Murdoch was going to do it against Tremont at Carnage Cup 9. However, in that same tournament Kickboxer 2 lost a finger by accident.
Anyway Carnage Cup and IWA-DS is not worth talking about. The guy who runs the company is a problematic figure to say the least. And the product is built more on shock and awe than actual craft and talent. There is a reason why you never hear of Spyder Boodrow and John Rare outside of the context of Carnage Cup

Agreed they are not a company I would follow. Sadly tho it's this kind of thing that makes headlines. Here in the UK, on the same weekend as GCW announce hammerstein, its this stupid spot that makes headlines. I've heard a few things about IWA DS and the owner which is... Disappointing to say the least and you wonder how someone like that is still in the industry

I saw some people talking about it on Twitter yesterday & I started reading a bunch about it to see if it was legit. I watched a 13 minute YouTube video highlighting the show (but wouldn't show anything from the main event). I enjoy some death match wrestling but that was awful.

I was in to all that stuff in the XPW days. I was in the audience when New Jack tried to toss Grimes to his death in a scaffolding tables match. I remember looking to my cousin and saying "Welp, we just saw a murder happen.". I couldn't believe the callousness of new jack with the body of Grimes. I can suspend reality with the best of them. But I don't need to see real life maiming outside of a cut forehead. Did any of you guys ever see that picture, in one of those old wrestling magazines, where a dude was attacked in the ring by another dude with a weed wacker across the stomach? Guy who was attacked was taking the picture like he was proud that he got those scars for life in a $50 plus a hot dog match. I liked the Nick Gage versus Jericho match, maybe because of his little tamer then it is regularly?
I agree with the sentiment that if he cut that guy's finger off he does need to be arrested for mayhem.

I believe the weed whacker incident was nick mondo who took it to the stomach. Been years since I seen it but the image of him in the ropes and the blood spurting out as the whacker hit him lives in my head. He released a film about his life called unscarred. He also produced the countdown show for gage vs Mox Side note (and going to show my age here) back in the days of bebo I actually made a music video of Nick Mondo set to the song "dance with the devil" by breaking Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin... Holy crap man that take me back. Sick Nick... Why am I not surprised. I'm glad I just read about it and avoided seeing it.

If I remember right they had replaced the blades of the weed whacker with barb wire or atleast that was the rumour at the time. Was nasty to see. Mondo was certainly ahead of his time
