What do you like better between Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter?
I will explain later why I am asking this question.

Though I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, there is simply no denying the impact that LOTR had on the fantasy genre... And fiction as a whole, for that matter... A true masterpiece!

Talk about Sophie's Choice. I went with LOTR.

I thought the LOTR movies were pretty good, especially the epic fight scenes. Never seen Harry Potter.

I'll go ahead and be the first vote for Harry Potter!
I enjoyed all of the books in the series, thought the movies were well done, and although the author has turned out to be something of a twit, I won't hold that against them.
As for LOTR, I think Clerks 2 said it best. "It was 3 movies about walking. Even the f'n tree's walked in those movies!"
I understand the impact that it has had on the genre and what not, and I don't deny that at all. But as a personal preference, I will take Potter.

I haven’t read the LOTR books but I did sit through the films when they were released. Fun, but no real desire to see them again. I have read all the Harry Potter books (was a teacher when they were popular) and I have seen all the films. Fun but no desire to read/see them again. I voted Harry Potter for the simple fact that they’ve made better theme park rides. (May ride one of them tomorrow with Vegas if everything works out). I’d love to ride a LOTR ride if one was ever made. When I was a kid, we went to a roadside attraction here in CA that featured hilariously poorly recreated scenes from The Hobbit. I don’t think it exists today but I’d go back in a heartbeat. True Roadside America. www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11271

I've read all the books for both so theres that.
Ive seen all the Lord of the Rings movies but havent been able to sit through all Harry Potter movies.
And about to start playing the one ring rpg (Lord of the Rings rpg, played a rider of Rohan before may go hobbit this time).
I guess that makes my vote Rings. Dont hate Potter just dont feelt compelled toward the property as much as the other.

While I do love the Harry Potter series and we frequently revisit the movies in my home, It's dwarfed in comparison of our love for LOTR. From the first time I watched the 1977 animated adaptation of the Hobbit I was hooked.

They lost their shine with bigger amusement parks and the internet but man I had some great times back in the day. Irish Hills, MI was THE place to go in that part of the country.
