Day 4 Vegas/Day 3 CAC
Yesterday was a great wrap up to the CAC! Grabbed breakfast at the Hash House with
TDalton, Emily, Troy Peterson and former IPW women's legend Kiandra (who I may or may not have signed to an exclusive LOW contract!) As always, the servings are ridiculously huge, which lead to a discussion on why they should have smaller plate options despite giant portions being their gimmick. Very thought provoking for 9:00 am in Vegas!
We then went to the Nostalgia Room, where I was so honored to get my picture taken with Jerry Jarrett. You think of all of the legendary promoters of the 70s and 80s, and there aren't a whole lot left. His nephew Brennan Martin introduced me as being from Iowa, which led to a great discussion about Iowa wrestling and Dan Gable.
When Christine Jarrett received an award on Tuesday night, her grandsons Brennan Martin and Jeff Jarrett both spoke about her. I shared that with Emily, who is a wrestling fan by marriage. Emily loved her story about being a single parent/wrestling promoter, so it lead to a historic moment... where Emily purchased her first ever wrestling book!
I had Brennan's original version of the book, but hadn't bought the updated one, so I told Emily we should probably get that one. She agreed so I took a picture of her handing Brennan the money. Seriously, you need to get the book "Teeny" if you haven't already.
We then went to a seminar about Christine Jarrett, conducted by Brennan Martin, with panelists Jerry Jarrett, Jimmy Hart and Jerry Lawler. What an experience!
Got pictures taken with Brian Blair and purchased his book. Talked to Madusa Miceli and got a picture with her. She also gave us samples of her CBD cream. She put some on my always sore neck and Tim's bad knee, and we felt amazing afterwards. Might have to "sell" her some ad space on UTP!
I will give out ordering details next week on the show, because it's fantastic stuff, and if you have chronic pain like Tim and I do, it really does the trick.
Also spoke with author Rock Rims, indy wrestler Andrew Anderson, and some other folks. The day kind of blurs together.
Zeke arrived from his day job, so we hung out with him for awhile and then got ready for the CAC banquet. This was Emily's first time attending the CAC banquet, and I think she enjoyed it! Heard great speeches from Joyce Grable, Billy Silverman, JBL, Konnan, and Kevin Sullivan. Then it was time to say goodbye to Zeke, and the rest of us went to the Sand Dollar Lounge, where there was a band and a lot of CAC attendees. I saw Levi Shapiro there, so I ran up to my room to get his card and get it autographed. He was super cool to talk to! He told me I needed to get his new card, and I told him
throwingtoasters had shared it with me, I just forgot to bring both of them! We then went up to Troy's room and had a couple more drinks to end the night.
Most of the IPW crew and Tim are leaving this morning, while we don't leave until 5:00 pm. Emily and I are going hang out at the pool, grab lunch, and adventure some more on Fremont before heading to the airport.
It's been a great time in Vegas, saw lots of great IPW/LOW/CAC family, and made some great memories. There will be an in depth wrap up on next week's episode of UTP, so don't miss it!
