The MLB union and league got together today to start the discussion for new CBA. I wish there was video. It lasted all of seven minutes. SEVEN! I mean half of that had to be everyone saying hi to each other and then settling down in their chairs. Then it was the union going "we want more" followed by the owners going "no" and thus the meeting was over. I mean why bother. It took more time to get there from their hotel rooms then the actual meeting. Countdown to lockdown has begun. I am just glad the Tigers made more of their big moves and signings already. They will be playoff contenders when, or if, the season happens this year. I do wonder if missing games last year due to COVID and playing without fans for some this year will have an effect. Possible leading to a quicker resolution than normal.

Hope they can settle this before too long, but I'm afraid it will carry on through the Spring with us having another shortened season.

I could see these talks lasting for at least most of the offseason.
I hate it when teams are tanking and I hope the new CBA can do something to address it such as a lottery for the top picks. I am also hoping for (I think the owners will give this to the players) the universal DH as I personally do not see the appeal of having most of these pitchers bat (one reason I prefer watching AL games.)
My Mariners have the longest postseason drought of any team in the 4 major sports but things are looking up for them as they won 90 games last year and this offseason signed last year's AL Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray and traded for Adam Frazier who was an All Star in 2021.

The appeal of pitchers batting was two fold. If they hit an opposing player they could be targeted for retribution. Second pitchers used to know how to bunt and move a runner over. Hitting in baseball is so piss poor now, add in pitchers chucking the ball at 100 MPH every inning whether they are accurate or not. Baseball has become wack a mole with revolving names and don't get me started on the shift. Baseball should constrict down to 16 teams. Then we would have some baseball. Interleague needs to go away. But I'm also old and want people off my lawn. So what do I know? One other thing if the players played by lush ball rules I would be their biggest fan. Viva la baseball and beer!!

We all are aware of Captain Obvious. Either via the commercials and/or his memes on social media. Well today on the news I saw Private Cliche. This fan was talking about how the start of spring training was being postponed. He used the cliche "billionaires arguing with millionaires" then complained about when it is all done it will probably result in prices going up. Like if they had settled this back in the fall prices would not go up. Hell, prices are going to go up due to shipping issues like everything else.
