WCW Monday Nitro Episode # 01
January, Week 1, Year 1 - Miami, Florida
FTX Arena
- We are welcomed to the show by Bobby Heenan and Tony Schiavone after the opening pyro. They say that a tournament will start tonight to determine the first WCW World Heavyweight champion. They say that there will be two first round matches tonight and that the remainder of the tournament will take place as the weeks go by.
- We go backstage where we see Disco Inferno in the parking lot. He walks to the back door of the arena while pulling his suitcase behind him. He is stopped by security who says that he isn’t on the list. Disco Inferno takes a fit and says he’s on the show tonight. The security guard says to leave or he will make him leave. Disco gets angry and walks off.
- We then go to our backstage interviewer Pamela Paulshock. She is with KC Spinelli. Spinelli says that she is going to be scouting talent for a stable and is looking for wrestlers who are championship material. Paulshock asks if she can name names of who she may have in mind at the moment. Spinelli says she will have to find out like everyone else.
- Match # 01 - Fit Finlay beat D Lo Brown at 1:55 with a Tombstone Piledriver to advance in the WCW United States Championship Tournament.
- After the bout we see a blue Porsche pull up into the parking lot. The shot then goes onto the driver’s side window. It rolls down and we see Austin Idol wearing a blue shirt and a white hat. He smiles at the camera and says that he is coming to World Championship Wrestling and he is going to be coming for that WCW World Heavyweight championship. The window then rolls up and he drives off out of sight.
- The shot then goes backstage where we see Pamela Paulshock standing with Diamond Dallas Page. Paulshock asks him what his plans are here in World Championship Wrestling and Page says that he plans to become WCW World Champion and will defeat Curt Hennig on Thunder in a tournament match this Thursday. He says Curt Hennig is going to feel the BANG! He then walks off camera.
- Match # 02 - Thunderbolt Patterson beat Baron Von Raschke at 2:50 with a Headbutt to advance in the WCW United States Championship tournament.
- After the match Thunderbolt Patterson grabs the microphone and says that he is going to beat Fit Finlay next week on WCW Nitro and will go on and become WCW United States Champion! He then tosses down the microphone and walks back up the aisle, slapping hands with the ringside fans as the show goes to a commercial break.
- Match # 03 - Bruiser Brody beat Bobo Brazil at 1:02 with a Jumping Knee Drop to advance to the next round of the WCW World Title tournament.
- After the match Bruiser Brody brings in a giant chain that he came to the ring with and bashes Brazil’s knee with it over and over. Brazil needs to helped to the backstage area as the show cuts to a commercial break.
- Back from the commercial break we see WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel in his office. He is sitting at his desk. He says that because of his actions, Bruiser Brody has been removed from the WCW World Championship tournament and has been suspended until Clash of the Champions where Bruiser Brody and Bobo Brazil will square off in a No Holds Barred bout!
- The shot then goes to the backstage area where we see Pamela Paulshock standing in front of a WCW Nitro backdrop. She is standing beside “Macho Man” Randy Savage. She asks Savage his thoughts on his upcoming match against Rob Van Dam. He says that he is going to crush him and go on to become the WCW World Heavyweight champion!

- Match # 04 - “Macho Man” Randy Savage beat Rob Van Dam by disqualification at 0:45 to advance to the next round of the WCW World Title Tournament when Rob Van Dam walloped Savage in the back with a steel chair. Rob Van Dam raised the chair in the air and stood over the fallen Savage as the show went off the air.
