GNW is announcing another roster change, this one in the tag-team division.....The Batten Twins Brad and Bart, are being given their unconditional release after their next appearance on July 20th, we wish them well. In their spot we are excited to announce the arrival of a new team, made up of two veterans...YUKON GOLD is the moniker they have chosen.....we welcome Yukon Eric and his partner Yukon Moose Cholak to Great North Wrestling they will arrive in the next week or so...we expect things to heat up in the tag-team division with their arrival....good luck gentlemen.....on to our final announcement....

GNW'S next PPV has been scheduled, GNW DOG DAYS OF SUMMER '23 will take place on Sunday August 20th 3pm, from US BANK STADIUM in Minneapolis MN! There will be plenty of major match announcements for this huge event in the coming weeks right here on GNW UPDATE. TICKETS go on sale next Friday, July 21st starting at NOON. History was made as we crowned a new champion in our first appearance in Bemidji in front of a jam-packed Sanford Center!!!

Hercules Ayala defeated Stan Stasiak in our opening contest. Stasiak provided very stiff opposition, but in the end it was Hercules, avoiding the HEART PUNCH, as he pins Stan after a WILD RIGHT HAND, followed by a CLOTHESLINE!. Time: (10:21).

Ken Patera remains undefeated (2-0) here in GNW, by virtue of his impressive victory over Mr. Wrestling II. Wrestling II schooled Patera early, even getting a near fall after an early MILLION DOLLAR KNEE LIFT....but the Olympic strongman kicked out....and fought his way back. Ken pins the masked man after a devastating series of JUMPING ELBOW DROPS. Time: (9:48).

The "RAGING BULL" clashes with THE FANTASTIC OX"....in a brutal slobber-knocker that had the capacity crowd on its feet from start to finish! Fernandez (debut) and the sadistic BAKER...were at their brawling best! In the end Manny(1token) ducks Baker's (2 tokens)HEART PUNCH.....and gets the 1,2,3 coming off the ropes with a textbook FLYING BURRITO! Time: (10:33).

Rocky Johnson was spectacular as he defeated the enigmatic Chris Colt in an entertaining bout. Both men had their share of high spots in their Great North debut! In the end Rocky's power was too much for Colt. He puts Colt shoulders to the canvas for good after a POWERSLAM!!! Time: (9:37).

**GNW WORLD TAG-TEAM TITLE SHOT**
It was sheer pandemonium as THE B&B DESTRUCTION CO (Bad News Allen/Brickhouse Brown) clashed with THE LEGION OF DOOM for the first time here in GNW, with a shot at THE GNW CHAMPIONS (Ivan/Nikita) on the line! Hawk and Animal led by Mr. Ellering (of course)...hit the ring in full beast mode! Brown and Allen, were stunned at first, but then they came on strong! Eventually with Bad News setting up Hawk for his GHETTO BLASTER, and Animal and Brickhouse entangled, ELLERING enters the ring and hits Allen from behind....the ref sees the interference and DISQUALIFIES The Road Warriors! The fight raged on all the way to the back! Time: (12:56).

*GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH*
Popular superstar Barry Windham ends the second title reign of Austin Idol tonight in Bemidji! The youngster begins his second go-round with the gold after an impressive victory over the gritty and tough Idol. The fight took place inside and outside the ring, and both men gave as good as they got. Idol missed his opportunity to apply his LAS VEGAS LEGLOCK, as Windham managed to avoid it. In a cruel ironic twist of fate WINDHAM makes AUSTIN submit to his FIGURE FOUR!!! Windham (3 fatigue), Austin (3 fatigue). Time: (24:25).

It was another wild-west shootout tonight in Helena.....here are the results from this wild and wooly card!

Salvatore Bellemo pulls out an upset victory over Col. Debeers! The Col. really punishes the young Italian and it looked pretty bad for Salvatore. He fights his way back and uses a flurry of flying head-scissors to daze Debeers, then a SMALL PACKAGE HOLD for the pin!
Time: (8:20).

AJ Styles and the legendary Thunderbolt Patterson were up next, in one heck of a great wrestling match. Patterson was looking extra sharp, and of course Styles (debut) was phenomenal. Back and forth this was a chain-wrestling masterpiece, with both men turning the tables on each other almost hold for hold. In the end AJ's youth was the difference, and it was one of the few impact moves in the match, a PHENOMENAL DDT....that finally pins Patterson to the canvas!
Time: (12:18).

ENGLAND wins tonight as Lord Alfred Hayes defeated Cowboy Bob Ellis. This match had little resemblance to previous match, in fact it was the exact opposite! Punches, kicks, gouges and chokes were the standard for this heated melee. After crawling helplessly back into the ring (after an out of the ring skirmish), Lord Alfred uses his TOWER OF LONDON to seal the victory. Time: (9:57).

********INTERMISSION********
The Flying Redheads (Lyons,Bastien) won the battle, but didn't look like the winners tonight against Ox Baker and Stan Stasiak. THE HEART-STOPPERS pummeled Lyons and Red with heavy, heavy fists and an assortment of impactful power moves. Soon all four men are on the outside, where it was all Baker and Stasiak. BAKER however loses this one for the Heart-Stoppers, after shoving the ref aside, and putting Lyons through the time-keeper's table!
Baker and Stasiak are DISQUALIFIED!!!.
Time: (13:14).

** GNW INTER-STATE TITLE SHOT MATCH**
ADRIAN ADONIS will get a shot at the I.S. gold as he defeats Dick Murdoch in Helena! In another tough, down and dirty pier-sixer, Adrian comes out on top. After kicking out of several pin attempts, Adonis dug down deep and fought his way back against the big Texan. After a low-blow (no DQ) the New Yorker uses a BULLDOG HEADLOCK for the 1,2,3. Adonis earned the right to face I.S. Champion Barry Windham (2)....next for the belt!

****GNW WORLD TITLE SHOT MATCH****
Popular tough-guy THE CRUSHER went to war with former Inter-State Champion King Kong Mosca with a shot at World Champion Freddie Blassie as the reward! This one was ugly (as expected), and both participants were covered in blood! They warred outside the ring, in the aisles, and in the crowd. The ref was close to pulling the plug, but both men took the fight back into the ring. The Crusher (2 fatigue) puts Mosca's (3 fatigue) lights out for good after his second consecutive CRUSHER BOLO.
Time: (14:28).

Brian Sager: It was certainly good to be back in Helena....what great fans, and a great night of action. Hugh Morrus survives the onslaught of Kevin Sullivan, and wins a tough one. After taking a beating early from "The Taskmaster", big Hugh erupts and gives a beating of his own, much to Sullivan's dismay. Morrus pins Kevin after his NO LAUGHING MATTER finisher.
Time: (8:49).

Wilbur Snyder debuts,and gives The Dirty White Boy a wrestling lesson! Wilbur withstood early fisticuffs from DWB, then proceeded to turn him into a HUMAN PRETZEL. The Dirty White Boy submits to Snyder's ABDOMINAL STRETCH. Time: (9:57) (DUD).

The Batten Twins (Brad, Bart) leave Great North Wrestling the way they entered the company, with a loss, this time to the MOONDOGS. Spot and Rex met little resistance as they pick up their second straight victory keeping them undefeated at 2-0. Rex did the honors this time, using a MOONDOG DROP to finish Bart off, while Spot kept Brad from making the save.
Time: (11:22).

Arn Anderson let his frustration get the better of him, as he loses by DISQUALIFICATION to THE GREAT MUTA. The oriental techniques of Muta, confused and irritated DOUBLE A. Finally after gaining an upperhand (via an eye poke), Arn tosses Muta out to the floor. He is then disqualified for using repeated CHAIR SHOTS!
Time: (13:10).

****SPECIAL MATCH 3-WAY DANCE****
After the break, the action picks right back up to fever pitch, with our special 3-way match between Taz, Samoa Joe, and Big Bill Miller! The three GNW newcomers put on a great match, trying to impress the fans,the company and the talent watching in the back. It was a flurry of action right from the opening bell. Taz used his suplexes to perfection, Samoa Joe's and Dr. Miller's power games were strong as well. After several failed pin attempts, by all involved, SAMOA JOE (with Taz outside on the floor) gets the win after POWER-BOMBING Miller!!! Time: (17:35).

The British Bulldogs losing streak continues, (now at 2) after dropping tonight's hard fought tag-team affair to HARLEM HEAT (w/Sister Sherri). This was a great match from start to finish, both teams were on point. Double-teams, quick tags were effectively used by both teams. After a tense back and forth match, Stevie Ray pins Davey Boy after a HEATSEEKER, while on the outside Sister Sherri distracted The Dynamite Kid.
Time: (14:07). (Bulldogs 3 tokens,HEAT 2).

***SPECIAL MAIN EVENT NO DQ!!!***
ANDRE and HANSEN shook the pillars of The Climate Pledge Arena, as they waged war against each other. Hansen attacked Andre before the bell striking him with his cowbell, then choking him with the rope! It was pure violence on Hansen's mind as he knew he had to keep the Giant down! He bites Andre's forehead till it splits open...and then wails him with the cowbell repeatedly. Andre in desperation rolls under the ropes to the floor, and Hansen follows him! On the floor it was still Hansen's fight as he puts the boots to the GIANT. He pulls Andre to his feet (??) to shoot him into the ringpost. .....BUT, Andre reverses it and Stan goes into the post HEAD FIRST! An angered Giant then goes to work, putting Hansen through a table, and slamming him on the floor! He tosses Hansen back into the ring...and finishes him after a LEG DROP with a BUTT SPLASH off the second turnbuckle as the crowd explodes!!! Time: (13:46).

Brian Sager: It just doesn't get any better than GREAT NORTH WRESTLING!!!....what a great night, thank you all for coming!
