RESULTS! GNW ON TOUR #208 ********************************* 2/3/2024 Wings Event Center, Kalamazoo, MI Attendance: 6,568 ************************************** GNW hits the road again with a stop in Kalamazoo........here's what happened!
Sputnik Monroe and Hillbilly Jim couldn't figure each other out in the time allotted for our opening match, and wound up with an entertaining 15 minute time-limit DRAW. Both grapplers did their best the grab the "W", but it was just out of their grasp tonight in Kalamazoo! Sputnik (4 tokens), Jim (3 tokens). Time: (15:00).
Frenchy Martin put Al Perez to the test in our second contest , trying to chalk up his 1st Great North victory. Alas, it wasn't to be....the Latin sensation rained all over Frenchy's parade. Too much skill and agility from Perez, was Martin's undoing. His brutish tactics were easily quaffed by Perez. After a scintillating barrage of aerial offense, Al's SPINNING TOEHOLD has Frenchy screaming uncle! Time: (8:39).
The Great Malenko and Superfly Snuka were up next in a dandy of a match. This one had the crowd's full attention from start to finish! Malenko used trickery and deceit, but Jimmy reciprocated when the situation called for it and kept The Great One off balance. After a very physical back and forth spectacle, Snuka not taking to the skies, instead uses a PILEDRIVER to end Malenko's evening. Time: (8:33).
********INTERMISSION******** In a bit of an upset THE GREENE BROTHERS pull off another unexpected victory ( in the form of a disqualification) to remain unbeaten here in Great North Wrestling! Tonight Al and Don managed to thwart one of GNW's meanest and toughest teams, former World Tag-Team Champions THE HEART-STOPPERS! (Baker/Stasiak). Ox and Stan, got a fair amount of punishment in, before this one ends, and both GREENE Brothers were laid out cold. BUT not before the ref disqualifies STASIAK for using a chair repeatedly on Don! Greenes (4 fatigue total), Heart-Stoppers 0). Time: (9:51).
An injured Bobo Brazil (from the PPV, Feb.1st), put on a gutsy preformance and defeats BIG JOHN STUDD tonight in The Wings Event Center! The Michigan born Brazil, didn't disappoint his home-state crowd. With his back racked with pain, he manages to still defeat his sadistic opponent Mr. STUDD! JOHN worked over Brazil's aching back for the lion's share of the match, but Brazil kept fighting back! Finally using every bit of energy he had left, Bobo goes on an offensive rally, finally knocking Big John out cold with an arena echoing COCO BUTT! Time: (10:29).
**GNW INTER-STATE TITLE SHOT MATCH** Everything seems to be coming up roses for GREG VALENTINE! Fresh from his CALL YOUR SHOT 4-WAY MATCH victory at GNW WILD WEST SHOW 2024, the HAMMER notches another title shot, by defeating Sgt. SLAUGHTER tonight in Kalamazoo. This was war...and The Sarge wasn't taking any prisoners tonight. The crowd roared in approval as Slaughter laid waste to Valentine right from the opening bell! He tried everything, but the gritty Valentine kept on coming back for more . During an extremely volatile out of the ring skirmish, a frustrated SARGE gets DQ'ed for putting Greg through the time-keeper's table! Slaughter (2 fatigue), Valentine (4). Time: (18:35).
Brian Sager: Kalamazoo it just doesn't get any better.....am I right? What an evening of action! RESULTS! GNW ON TOUR #209 ********************************* 2/7/24 Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR Attendance: 9,659 ******************************************** Great North Wrestling returned to Portland, and the fans witnessed the crowning of a NEW champion!!
Our first match featured two experienced veterans, Pepper Gomez vs Dick Murdoch! This was a very entertaining match, with two totally different wrestling styles, Murdoch with his rough-house brawling, and the finesse and strategic style of Gomez. Both men wanted the win badly and they fought tooth and nail vying for the "W". Despite taking a huge amount of punishment, tonight belonged to PEPPER! He gets the 1,2,3.... after applying a lightning quick MEXICAN CRADLE! Time: (7:56).
Ken Patera and "Jumping" Jim Brunzell were up next in a classic power vs agility match-up. Patera flexed his muscles early and often, but Brunzell was able to avoid pin or submission, even escaping Ken's signature SWINGING FULL NELSON, at least the first time he attempted application. Patera was able to ground Jim in the end, and applied his finisher successfully! Time: (15:14).
The STRAYS (Road Dogg/Redd Dogg) continued their undefeated streak with a tough victory over "Golden Boy" Paul Christy and "Nature Boy" Roger Kirby. "The Boys" were game competitors and Redd and Road had their hands full from start to finish! Both teams scored near falls in this tough and tumble affair. In the end REDD DOGG gets the pin on Kirby via running powerslam! (Strays 2 fatigue/Christy/Kirby 3). Time: (9:34).
*********INTERMISSION*********
The electrifying Latino superstar Tito Santana brought his high impact, fast paced wrestling repertoire to Portland and unleashed it upon Irish tough-guy Fit Finlay! The rugged Finlay was at his fighting best and wasn't impressed by Tito early on. But the well conditioned Santana eventually wore down the Irishman. He pins Finlay after a series of dropkicks, with a flying cross body off the ropes! Time: (10:37).
In a clash of big men, Dr. Death Steve Williams and Nord the Barbarian waged war in The Veterans Memorial Coliseum, to the delight of the appreciative crowd! It was brawn and more brawn and little in the way of defense in this pier-sixer! Each man took turns battering the other, with little thought of pin attempts! After two huge brawls out on the arena floor, the action went back into the squared circle for the exciting finish. Williams eventually finishes NORD with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! Time: (11:57).
**GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP** Inter-State Champion Curt Hennig's reign has ended (79 days and 6 defenses), at the hands of a red-hot Greg Valentine! Since his return here in GNW, he is undefeated and still has his CALL YOUR SHOT victory at GNW WILD WEST 2024 in his pocket! He earned this shot by defeating Sgt. Slaughter in a title shot match on 2/3/24. Curt didn't just hand over the belt, he made The Hammer earn it! It was back and forth from bell to bell. After Hennig lunged knee-first into the corner (vacated by Valentine at the last moment), Greg saw his opening and vigorously worked on Curt's damaged appendage! After refusing to submit on several occasions, HENNIG finally submitted to an excruciating FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK! YOUR WINNER and NEW GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPION. ....GREG "THE HAMMER" VALENTINE! Time: (22:44).
Brian Sager: Another great night of GNW action here in Portland! Thank you fans for coming out tonight! Rochester, Minnesota is up next as GNW ON TOUR will take place inside The Mayo Civic Center Arena 7PM, on Feb. 9th! RESULTS!!! 2/9/24 ******************************** GNW ON TOUR #210 Mayo Civic Center Arena, Rochester, MN Attendance: 8,500+ (SOLD-OUT) ****************************************** Another jam-packed Mayo Civic Center witnessed an epic night of Great North Wrestling action!!!.....including a championship title change!!!
Baron Von Raschke has hit a little bit of a losing streak, which now stands at 2, including somewhat of an upset loss tonight against Greg Gagne! The big German started out strong, clubbing his way to what seemed like an easy victory. He had Gagne in the grip of his CLAW, but Gagne managed to get to the ropes for the break, and then powdered out of the ring for a breather. Raschke having none of it, went out and continued his assault, then tossed a seemingly beaten Gagne back into the ring. In a desperation move Greg ducks a clothesline, then applies his GAGNE SLEEPER, and the Baron falls in defeat! Time: (7:47).
Hacksaw Duggan fought his way past The devious Kevin Sullivan in one heck of a fight! Sullivan at one point had Jim stuck in the "Tree of Woe" but Hacksaw with the crowd urging him on made a complete comeback! After using his FLYING SPEAR to soften Kevin up, it was a Tough Guy clothesline that ultimately gets Duggan the 1,2,3! Time: (13:52).
In another shocker, a former GNW Inter-State Champion Rocky Johnson gets lambasted tonight in Rochester at the hands of MENG! The monster from Tonga, seemed impervious to every offensive move attempted by Johnson. Power, agility, and impact moves were useless tonight against the brutish MENG. MENG applied his TONGAN DEATH GRIP and Rocky's night came to a quick end! Time: (4:57).
********INTERMISSION******** After the brief intermission, The GUNNslingers rallied back in their match-up against Bepo/Geeto THE MONGOLS. Geeto and his partner were incredibly effective right from the opening bell, using their power advantage. But the well conditioned GUNNS Billy and Bart weathered the early turmoil, and turned this match on it's head literally! Using speed and teamwork, soon The Mongols were in big trouble! With Billy cutting off Bepo's pin save, Bart nearly BULLDOG'S Geeto through the canvas, for the pin! Time: (11:23).
Our next contest, featured 2 of our newer arrivals here in GNW, but both top tier competitors nonetheless Jerry "The King" Lawler vs Olympic standout Kurt Angle. This was at first a very, hold and counter hold oriented duel, that soon turned into a real physical melee. At one point, Jerry (3 tokens) had his strap pulled down and was bombarding Angle with closed fists. But Kurt (2 tokens) was not to be denied victory tonight in Rochester! He used his scientific skill to turn the tide, eventually pinning Lawler after applying a lightning quick Small Package! Time: (13:38).
**GNW WORLD TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP** The Vachons (Mad Dog/Butcher) have made GNW history, but not in a good way! Their first championship reign here in Great North Wrestling is officially the shortest in history, ending in just 8 days! They fell tonight to Sister Sherri and her charges Booker T and Stevie Ray collectively known as HARLEM HEAT. The brothers from NY, were impressive tonight as they fought their way to a 2nd reign as World Tag-Team Champs! They were assisted by Sherri who distracted a berserking BUTCHER...just long enough for Stevie to tag in a well rested Booker! T blasted both Vachons after the hot tag and the crowd was lit! After dropkicking Butcher Vachon out to the floor, the HEAT used a double-team move to finish off The Mad Dog! Stevie does the honors pinning MD after a devastating TOWERING INFERNO! Both teams had 4 fatigue each! YOUR WINNERS AND NEW GNW WORLD TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONS HARLEM HEAT! Time: (31:56)
Mean Gene: Holy moley, what a night here in Rochester, Booker T and Stevie Ray back on top of the tag-team scene here in Great North Wrestling! Gentlemen great job, and good luck! That's gonna do it for tonight, thank you great fans here in Rochester, please travel home safely! GNW ON TOUR makes its way to Rapid City, SD for ON TOUR #211 7PM, FEBRUARY 12th! RESULTS!! GNW ON TOUR #211 ********************************************** 2/12/2024 Summit Arena @ The Monument, Rapid City, South Dakota Attendance : 5,662 *********************************************** Rapid City was alive and kicking Monday night, as Great North Wrestling invaded the Summit Arena at The Monument........
The surprising Tiger Conway Jr. remains undeated in 2024, as he defeats the always difficult Bobby Fish. Fish has been stiff competition for everyone he has faced this year. He nearly pinned Tiger following a series of high-flying moves (ending with a flying head-scissors) but Jr. managed to kick out at 2 and a half. Conway then mounted a spirited comeback of his own, ultimately pinning Bobby with his version of FLYING HEAD-SCISSORS! Both men shook hands afterwards. Time: (7:55).
Dr. Bill Miller thought his power and size would give him the advantage over "Crippler" Ray Stevens .....but it didn't in Rapid City tonight! Miller held the advantage for a good bit, before the gritty Stevens got the upperhand. STEVENS (2 fatigue) pins Miller (2 fatigue) after an impressive BOMBS AWAY on his larger opponent! Time: (13:24).
The Moondogs take the win in tonight's tag-team feature, beating Greg Gagne/Jim Brunzell (aka) The High-Flyers! Rex and Spot were not impressed by the speed and precision of THE FLYERS, instead they did their best to ground them, and they succeeded! After Rex (in the corner) clubbed Gagne in the noggin with the bone, Spot tossed him out of the squared circle, where his head the collided with the floor! Verne's boy was unable to beat the referee's count. WINNERS VIA COUNTOUT..THE MOONDOGS! Time: (9:51)
**********INTERMISSION**********
BIG JOHN STUDD owned Hercules Ayala tonight in South Dakota, a feat that rarely happens! Studd was all business, and business was GOOD. Ayala was stopped in his tracks from the git go....and Studd only toyed with him briefly before ending Herc's night in short order with his BACKBREAKER! Time: (4:03).
**GNW WORLD TITLE SHOT MATCH** Science met Royalty tonight, with a shot at GNW WORLD CHAMPION John Tolos on the line! "The World's most Scientific Wrestler" Wilbur Snyder battled Jerry "The King" Lawler! The crowd was torn between the two, but loved the action both provided in this mat classic! Back and forth it went, first in Snyder's favor, then the King's. It was razor's edge close from bell to bell. After refusing to submit to Snyder's grueling ABDOMINAL STRETCH, Lawler fired back loudly! After a barrage of right hands, Jerry hits Wilbur with a Second Rope Fist Drop...and gets the 1,2,3. Time: (21:22).
***GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP*** THE HAMMER successfully defends his I.S. title tonight in a real battle with Jon Moxley! Moxley, who earned his title shot a few weeks ago, was eager to represent wrestling's new breed! The Hammer was tested in his first defense, but rose to the occasion by punishing Moxley after he charged into an empty corner knee first into the second turnbuckle! That slowed Moxley down, and Valentine seized the opportunity set before him. After mercilessly working Jon's injured leg (in every conceivable way) Greg clamped on his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. ...and Moxley was forced into submission! Time: (13:44).
Brian Sager: Congratulations to Mr. VALENTINE on his successful title defense tonight. Thank you wonderful Rapid City fans for supporting us tonight with your loud cheers of appreciation! GNW ON TOUR goes back to Minnesota for a SOLD-OUT show in Willmar at the Willmar Civic Center 7:30pm on Thursday Feb. 15th! RESULTS! 2/15/24 ***************************************** GNW ON TOUR #212 Willmar Civic Center, Willmar, Minnesota ATTENDANCE: 4,500 (SOLD-OUT) ****************************************** Our yearly stop in little Willmar, is always a BIG success.....here's what went down this time!!! ************************************************
The unpredictable Chris Colt reaches deep down and pulls out a surprising upset victory over Sgt. Slaughter tonight in Willmar! Colt after clearly getting beaten all around the arena by THE SARGE, was able to seize his one and only chance at victory!. An over-zealous Slaughter charges into the corner and falls out to the floor! COLT launched himself off the top turnbuckle and hit his ELBOW DROP, nailing Slaughter lying on the prone on the outside! He tosses THE SARGE back in under the ropes and gets the 1,2,3. Time: (9:44).
"King Kong" clashes with "The Raging Bull" in a classic slobber-knocker! Manny and Angelo really put their all into this epic confrontation! Mosca was his usual nasty self, and the proud Fernandez went toe to toe with the monster! It was physical and it was intense. After kicking out of Manny's FLYING BURRITO....Mosca wisely wraps Fernandez in his SLEEPER for the win! Time: (10:17).
THE BRITISH BULLDOGS had a relatively easy night tonight in front of the roaring Willmar faithful! Davey Boy and Dynamite were focused and rolled over and through the team of Kim Duk and Frenchy Martin. Using superior teamwork, and quick tags they were coasting to an inevitable win over the outmatched combo of Martin/Duk. But it wasn't a totally clean victory. Sensing imminent defeat, Duk and Frenchy opted to BRAWL out on the floor thereby getting DISQUALIFIED instead of losing by pinfall! Time: (6:32).
*****INTERMISSION*****
Former GNW Inter-State Champion Curt Hennig, still bitter over having lost the title uses poor sportsmanship tonight to beat his opponent, popular star Tito Santana! Santana who has been red-hot was on a roll again tonight in the Willmar Civic Center! His speed had Henning confused and on his heels. UNTIL...Mr. Hennig found the "perfect" time to cheat! After landing two rapid-fire LOW-BLOWS, (no DQ)....he quickly pins a teary-eyed (and rightfully so) Santana with a HENNIG PLEX! The upset crowd pelts Hennig with debris as he makes a hasty exit. Time: (11:09).
As if this night wasn't epic enough....it was the BATTLE of the TOUGH GUYS next in Willmar. The Fantastic Ox Baker faced "The Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! With these two you knew it was going to be short but AWESOME! Ox started off with the advantage and tried to detach Jim's nose from his Skull! Duggan roars back and bites a chunk of Ox meat from Baker's noggin! It was an ugly and beautiful symphony of violence! Both men were tiring early, from the adrenaline dump! After a bodyslam, Duggan pins Baker after an OLD GLORY KNEE DROP! Both men were gassed after the bell rang! Time: (7:35).
This night ends the only way possible, with "The Eighth Wonder of the World" ANDRE THE GIANT in action!! Tonight the Giant squared off against the tough and no-nonsense GREENE BROTHERS (Don/Al). These two staunch brawlers fought hard, and did their best....but there was no stopping ANDRE tonight, especially with the screaming masses behind him. After a bit of a slow start The Giant makes a triumphant rally and pins Al (after tossing Don out to the floor), with a BIG SPLASH! Time: (8:57).
Brian Sager: Whew. ....the action was intense here in Willmar tonight! You fans were amazing as always. ...we can't wait to get back here next year! Please get home safely all of you. GNW next makes an appearance in the fabulous FARGODOME, for ON TOUR #213 bell-time 7PM on Feb. 17th. Until then this is Brian Sager saying THINGS ARE HOT HERE IN THE GREAT NORTH, WE'LL SEE YOU AT THE MATCHES. ....
