Konnan v. The Spoiler Referee: James Beard, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Konnan’s lucha based moves has the fans rocking and keeps Spoiler on the defensive early on but a missed charge to the corner turns the momentum of the contest and gives Spoiler a near fall using the ropes for leverage. Konnan manages to escape a BIONIC CLAW grabbing the ropes but a rope-walk smash does damage and Spoiler really dominates the balance of the match stunning Konnan and the fans with an impressive deathjump body block finish. Winner: Spoiler **
Best of Three Falls – Henry Irslinger v. “Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail Referee: Dick Woerhle Dr. Mike Lano at ringside, Vintage Charts The opening fall started out with near perfect scientific attack from Irslinger who had a counter to everything Ismail tried. Irslinger used his ARMLOCK AND LEG TRIP three times to put Ismail to the mat for a near falls but could not get the victory before the action spilled outside. Both men landed hand and could barely beat the ten count from the official. Irslinger went sent crashing to the floor a second time landing awkwardly. He was not the same after that and Ismail look over with a brutal and controversial assault that earned him plenty of heat and the fall with a STRANGLEHOLD. Things do not get any better for Irslinger early in the second fall as he again is sent crashing the floor injuring his ankle. With a bum leg, Irslinger takes matters into his own hands shoving Ismail through the ropes earing a warning for the official. The move throws Ismail off this game and Irslinger capitalizes with back to back ARMLOCK AND LEG TRIPS to take the second fall via submission. The third fall opens with a toehold from Irslinger that forces Ismail to regroup outside. Irslinger follows him out but Ismail suddenly grabbed Dr. Mike Lano’s spare camera and smashes Irslinger with the weapon leaving him in a heap on the floor. Woerhle quickly calls for the disqualification. The fans are livid as Ismail leaves the ringside to great heat. Winner: 2 – 1 Henry Irslinger by disqualification *****
Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon w/Shawn Daivari v. Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) Referee: Joey Marella Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The heels surround Gary Michael Cappetta before he can finish his introductions but the Bees storm the ring and go on the attack. The Bees get the fans out of their seats with a double back drop to the Butcher but Brunzell is stopped cold by Butcher’s foreign object and is covered for the pin (Snake Eyes!). The fans are again upset and the complaints of the Bees fall on deaf ears. Winners: Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Michael Cappetta. *
Lumberjack Match – Angelo Poffo w/ Bruiser Costa, Frank Dalton, Disco Inferno, and The Spoiler v. Barry Windham w/Jack Brisco, Billy Red Lyons, Brutus Beefcake & Jimmy Snuka Referee: Dick Woerhle, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Windham took control of this one from the outset and battered Poffo from corner to corner. A roll to the floor resulted in a beat down for Poffo but when Windham used a SWEETWATER SUPERPLEX The Spoiler interfered and kept Poffo alive. Poffo then look over but the advantage was short lived. Another SWEETWATER SUPLEX looked to end the match but Spoiler again interfered smashing Windham with a foreign object. Windham just barely kicked out of the following cover by Poffo and it took Windham several minutes to get back into the match. Windham had just too many weapons and took the win with a third SWEETWATER SUPLEX. Winner: Barry Windham **
Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) v. Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano Referee: Morgan Dollar, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dollar has strict instructions for both teams for before the bell. The story in this one was the double teaming by both teams that kept the action going back and forth. The Express began to step up their attack at the expense of “Luscious” Johnny and only the timely distraction of Albano saved Valant after a DOUBLE DROPKICK. The Express combined for their finisher again and this time Albano rang the bell himself. As Dollar argued with Albano, the Valiant took out Gibson with a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE for a huge near fall. The action spilled to the floor where Johnny Valiant smashed Gibson with a chair across the back. Dollar would not stand for it and called for the disqualification. A flurry of dropkicks from Morton sent the Valiant Brothers out of the ring post match and the fans popped huge the Express took out Albano with a double dropkick. Winner: Rock ‘n’ Roll Express by disqualification. ** ½
Jim Londos v. Don Muraco Referee: Dick Woerhle, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Captain Lou Albano must have really been knocked for a loop by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express because he does not come to ringside with Muraco tonight. This was a classic. Muraco appeared slightly off his game early and Londos took advantage twice catching Muraco with crotch lift and slams while working on various body parts as well. Muraco used his size to make a comeback and punished Londos with suplexes and a series of dropkicks and slams. Twice Muraco put Londos into the mat with a HAWAIIAN HAMMER but Londos was able to get the shoulder up both times much to the delight of the fans. An Asiatic Spike slowed things down and really took the life out of Londos who struggled from that point to get any sustained offensive aside from the occasional counter attack. Muraco uses a series of Russian Leg Sweeps to set up a third HAWAIIAN HAMMER to get what appeared to be a quick three count from Woerhle. Winner: Don Muraco ****
Canadian Open Tag Team Title Match – Vachons (Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon) [ch] v. Midnight Express (Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton) w/Jim Cornette Referee: Morgan Dollar, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Cornette is only around momentarily as Dollar sends the official to the back out of concerns of potential interference. The Express were not happy the champions went to work focusing their attack on Lane. Eaton had to make the save after a HANGMAN and again after a PILEDRIVER from Mad Dog Vachon. Eaton was finally able to get tagged into the match to allow Lane to regain his senses. From the that point, the Express began to take control of the action including plenty of double teaming. Mad Dog Vachon kicked out after a VEG-O-MATIC and after a top rope elbow from Eaton. Later, Butcher Vachon saves his brother from a second VEG-O-MATIC. The Vachon were not able to get anything going and the Express wisely kept Lane on the apron for most of the remainder of the action until a third VEG-O-MATIC, this time to Butcher Vachon, gave the Express the victory and their second Canadian Open Tag Team Championship. Winners and new Canadian Open Tag Team Champions (2): Midnight Express. *****
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match: The Destroyer [ch] v. Bob Backlund Referee: Dick Woerhle, Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Backlund took control of this one in the opening seconds and had a two and half count after a delayed vertical suplex before the match was minute old. From that point it was all Backlnd who picked up two more near falls and a near submission with a Boston Crab. Backlund allowed just one counter attack move from the champion and then went back to work and picked up a submission with a head scissors! Destroyer was furious after the match with Woerhle who may have jumped the gun on his decision but we have a new Canadian Heavyweight Champion. Winner and new Canadian Heavyweight Champion: Bob Backlund. **
News and Views: • Obviously the top news story in the territory is the two huge title changes on tonight’s card from Maple Leaf Gardens. First, we have a new Canadian Heavyweight Champion as Bob Backlund simply took apart Destroyer on route to capturing the title for the first time. The match was not without some controversy as Destroyer claims he would have never submitted to something as simplistic as a head scissors. Many fans in attendance were shocked that Dick Woerhle called for the bell when he did which seems to support Destroyer’s claims. To address the situation, Commissioner Teddy Long booked a rematch for the Title on the first available date which is at the Niagara Falls Memorial Arena in Niagara Falls (Card 28). The event it sure to be a sell out so get your tickets early. • We also have new Canadian Open Tag Team Champions as the Midnight Express left Toronto for the second straight time. The Express overcame Jim Cornette being escorted out of ringside before the match even began and a quick start by the champions to mount what may have been one of the most impressive comebacks in territory history to get the convincing victory. • One of highlights of the tonight’s card was the best of the falls encounter between Henry Irslinger and “Terrible Turk” Yusuf Ismail that ended with Irslinger being left in a battered heap on the floor after the disqualification finish to the third and deciding fall. Irslinger looks bad after the match but is not expected to miss any time away from the ring. The two will be back at it again as part of the card at the Convention Center in Hamilton (Card 27) once again in a best of three falls encounter. This time, the third fall, if necessary, will be under Texas Death rules so there will be a winner. • The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express picked up a big win tonight and remain in the hunt for a shot at the Canadian Open Tag Team Championship. They will have to go through the now former two time champions Vachon Brothers to get that opportunity as Commission Long has booked a number one contenders match between the two teams as part of the Ringside Tapings at the Brantford Civic Centre (Card 26). • The team of Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon under the guidance of Shawn Daivari picked up a controversial victory tonight and afterward Daivari expressed that his team was ready to move up the tag team division. The Killer Bees have other ideas however and were not pleased with how Butcher used a foreign object to get the win. The Bees are looking for a rematch which has caused some to question their state of mind. • Barry Windham told the media after tonight’s match that he was done with Angelo Poffo and was looking for a shot at the Canadian Heavyweight Title regardless of who is champion. Windham also has words for the Spoiler who used a foreign object on Windham during tonight’s Lumberjack Match that they can meet in the ring any time • Don Muraco picked up a very impressive victory tonight and is looking to make his shot at the Canadian Heavyweight Title. Muraco. Muraco will have to wait until the rematch between Destroyer and Backlund takes place but will Muraco be able to maintain his spot at the top of the contender’s list with more wins like the one tonight?

Big win for Backlund and can't say the result was overly surprising... But, I really like how you spun the finish into an immediate rematch for The Destroyer... Does he have a legitimate beef? Possibly... But, there's certainly no question that Backlund deserves to wear the gold.
Looks like banning Cornette did wonders for that tag title match... FIVE STARS! Very nice!
This was a top notch event from start to finish... Muraco and Londos delivered in a big way, despite the flash finish... Windham overcame some adversity to score a big victory... Plus, there's no doubting that the pairing of Abby & Gorilla is going to make some people sit up and take notice... Entertaining, as always!

Thanks for the feedback TTX and PariahI am not completely sold on the pairing of Monsoon and Butcher yet. Given the personalities involved there is a natural story to tell which will be fun to play out but I may need the roster spots to freshen things up.
