Shame the Vachons had to steal the fun of ME vs RNR but that Backlund/Muraco match was a lot of fun. Thanks for the comments. The match between the Express and Vachons looked like it might be a long back and forth battle but the Vachons hit their tag finisher on Lane out of nowhere really and I chose not to use the pin save or Cornette interference option given that it was first fall attempt on Lane (who has a pin 3) and the finisher is a zero addition to the pin. I rolled a three and the belts changed hands. We now have the Vachons, Midnights and Rock 'n' Roll all in the mix for the belts with the Valiants just barely on the outside looking in. Plus the Killer Bees were a pleasant surprise as I thought they would be crushed by Monsoon & Butcher. Monsoon's card has been very underwhelming for me so far and his run in the territory may be shorter than I had initially anticipated.

Card 023 – Civic Auditorium, Oshawa
Brutus Beefcake v. Jake “The Milkman” Milliman Referee Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Beefcake was looking to make a statement in his debut bout and controlled the action from the opening bell. Beefcake was not able to put Milliman away however and The Milkman came back with an incredible comeback including a falling head butt and it was a SECOND ROPE HEAD BUTT that put Beefcake down for the pin in a huge upset to kick of the night. Winner: Jake Milliman * ½
D’Lo Brown v. The Spoiler Referee Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside The action was closely contested early and Brown used a Samoan Drop Flapjack to gain the upper hand. Spoiler kicked out after a Sky High and began an impressive comeback. Brown kicked out after a heat gaining choke with singlet strap but Spoiler had just too many weapons and picked up the win with a double underhook suplex. Winner: The Spoiler *
Konnan v. Jim Londos Referee Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside A handshake started this one off and the fans were treated to a scientific classic. Londos worked the arm and then used a fireman’s carry slam and crotch lift and slam to keep the pressure on but Konnan turned the match with DDT. Konnan mixed in some power with a powerbomb and jackknife and then took flight with a second rope dropkick. A Zip Lock nearly ended it. Londos kicked out after a NIAGARA DRIVER. Konnan maintained the advantage and put Londos away with a second NIAGARA DRIVER. Winner: Konnan. ** ½
Angelo Poffo v. Barry Windham Referee Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Windham and Poffo exchange holds and moves before Windham takes control of the action leading to a SWEETWATER SUPERPLEX. Back in the ring, a second SWEETWATER SUPERPLEX finishes it with what appears to be a possibly quick count by Dollar. Winner: Barry Windham. *
Abdullah The Butcher & Gorilla Monsoon w/Shawn Daivari v. Killer Bees (Jim Brunzell & B. Brian Blair) Referee Morgan Dollar; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Dollar sends Daivari to the back for the second straight card and Daivari is furious. Perhaps the pre-match chaos throws Butcher off as he struggles against Blair who uses a hooking clothesline to set up a BEE STING. Butcher kicks out and KILLER DROPKICK follows. Again Butcher gets his shoulder up at the last second. Blair goes to the top but Butcher knocks the ropes and Blair crashes to the mat. Monsoon tags in and crushes Blair with a running tackles and then gets the three count. Winners: Abdullah The Butcher and Gorilla Monsoon * ½

Don Muraco & The Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano Referee James Beard; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside An action packed encounter just as you would expect with these six men battling. The Valiant uses some double teaming against Ricky Morton but a SUPER ELBOW does not get the job done. The Express come back cutting or Muraco from his corner. Backlund gets in some offense and the Express catch Muraco with a slingshot stomp. A DOUBLE DROPKICK has the match won for the Express but Jimmy Valiant makes the save. Backlund and Muraco take the action outside where Backlund catches Muraco with a fireman’s carry and dumps Muraco through a ringside table! Even James had to make the disqualification call. The fans are not happy as the Valiant Brothers pick up Muraco and assist him to the back. Winners: Don Muraco and The Valiant Brothers by disqualification ***
Canadian Heavyweight Title Match – The Destroyer [ch] v. Jimmy Snuka Referee Dick Woehrle; Dr. Mike Lano at ringside Superfly used a head butt to get the upper hand early but Destroyer was able to whether his opponent’s offense and start a methodical attack on his own. Destroyer worked the lower body including a hip drop to the leg and a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Snuka struggled and managed to roll Destroyer breaking the hold and getting the fans behind him. Destroyer turned up the head posting The Superfly. Quickly a bloody mess, Snuka was in trouble and Destroyer never let up on his attack getting the three count with a backbreaker. Winner: The Destroyer – Title Defense V.6 **

More great action from MLW. I was also looking forward to Rock n' Roll Express vs. Midnight Express for the tag titles but Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon put a stop to that. We could still get it in Toronto, but the Vachon's will have something to say about that.
Jake Milliman over Brutus Beefcake was quite a shocker but another thing that makes the game so great. You never know what is going to happen when you roll those dice!

Yeah Milkman winning is pretty awesome. He's really streaky sometimes looking really good and at others times dropping to an undercarder without a finisher.

Very impressed with The Destroyer's successful defense against Superfly... Strong title reigns are too often the exception and not the rule... Can't wait to see who steps into the number one contender slot next.
Abby and Gorilla are the epitome of a monster team, my friend... More of this pairing please!

If I didn't enjoy teaming Monsoon and Kowalski so much, I'd steal that team. Thinking about Abby and the Baron for now. (Been watching 85 Crockett recently)

It was very cool watching the overall match quality improve as this latest event progressed... With the last two contests delivering some superb action... Jerry Brisco & Billy Red Lyons are a fun pairing that could make some waves in the territory... And I'm really looking forward to the rematch between The Destroyer and Backlund... Thinking we might have a title change coming our way... Entertaining stuff!
