I could maybe see a separate Ellering card if there were ever a spot down the line. But honestly, looking at his current color manager-wrestler stats, it wouldn't be a drastic increase in the strength of the card. He's not going to be on the level of Lou Thesz, Jack Brisco, Harley Race, etc. And I see guys like Magnificent Muraco, Davey Boy Smith (singles card), Adrian Adonis, and others being stronger than Ellering as well. As Travis605 said, his time in Memphis was short and his overall active career was also short. If you really wanted to try to recreate his singles career, maybe you could incorporate the Hometown Advantage Rule, found in the Ringisde Companion! (Cheap plug.)

Permit me to point out that Prince Kharis also did not have a long career in the ring. 😆

I expected to get him in the Memphis set and still don't understand why we didn't. He was managed by Jimmy Hart and won the Southern title, a major belt, from Handsome Jimmy. He headlined the Coliseum and feuded with Lawler. Not a long run but an accomplished one in a kayfabe sense. His manager wrestling stats don't do it justice. Not knocking your opinion, but I've studied Memphis history as much as anyone, went weekly from 82-95 and Paul Ellering isnt memorable there. I bet most forgot he was even there, even though he won the Southern Title. I'd been disappointed if he was released in this set knowing who has been signed and who was already in black and white. (but thats my opinion) People just don't consider him part of Memphis history (unlike those released. The only person close to not being a huge Memphis guy is Lanny, but with this ties to Randy, he makes sense). Idol, Dundee, Rich, Fabs, Moondogs, Smothers, Hart, PG13, Dutch, Koko....they're all guys people (fans in Louisville, Nashville etc) remember as Memphis guys. And Ellering was a high profile opponent for Dundee, Rich, Valiant, Grappler, Fargo, Gibson and Morton while he was there and, as mentioned, he was managed by Hart. That's a lot of LOW crossover in one territory. Maybe someday.

I'm looking at his current card with the manager art. Stat wise a full time wrestler card would not be THAT different. I'd go with +1 agility, ditch the tag move on lv2mv6 and just go straight clothesline-3, and move the deathjump and out of ring up to moves 2 and 3 on level 3 and make the leg drop move 4 on lv3 at -3 potency. To me that's really all it needs to be in line with his historical position in the pro wrestling landscape as a wrestler.
Would be cool to see the wrestler art though.

You got to buff him more than that. Pin 6(3), power -2, neck breaker +1. He was main event in Memphis, not lower midcard.

That's when you break out the aforementioned home town advantage rules. Or make your own preferred card changes (like I did with The Patriot to take away the tag focus and make him more like the guy who beat Bret Hart). I'll give you the PIN 6(3). I'm a Paul Elleriing fan so I hate arguing AGAINST a better card, but it is what it is. In Memphis for a little while he was featured, but his career overall does not warrant a top tier card in my opinion.

Being main event in Memphis really wasn't as big as being main event in say Florida or Mid Atlantic. Also it wasn't like he was a main eventer for years in Memphis.

If you make the buffs I suggested, you don't get a top tier card. You get a card that can go head to head with Dundee, Valiant, Grappler, Rich and give as good as it gets. That's about right in my estimation.

All but Grappler had some degree of success on a national level. And again this is where I say some sort of territory/home town adjustment would suit just fine.
