I know not everyone has a iphone, but if you do you've got to get the TNA app for it. I'm not even a TNA fan/watcher and the game is so much fun! A COTG version would be so awesome.

With the caveat that I'm not anywhere near to doing this, I have been very interested in learning more about PC-based animation programs for use in COTG Online. Osk and I have discussed it in the past, and while I'd like to learn how to do this for more reasons than just COTG, it would be a great platform for me to try things out. I've got a basic understanding of the fundamentals but just need the time to sit down with a high-quality (read: expensive) program and put myself through the paces. I would love to see this for any gaming system, but the Wii would indeed be fun. Maya Personal Learning Edition is free. Good for learning, but stamps the logo on the screen. Blender is Free and there are alot of tutorials for it. Crystal Space is Free, I have not played with this one. The trick is, to get it into XNA it has to be a specific format. I'm sure there are some converters out there.

Oddly enough, I just learned that one of my friends in Baltimore who does coding and testing for a game company is looking to learn the ropes of animation beyond the Flash stuff he already knows. Possibly he could be a resource in the future if he follows through.

I guess I don't understand how this could be executed in a way that would stay true to the mechanics of the game. Maybe that's just because of my own lack of imagination where video games are involved. As far as the match-aspect of COTG, there's very little interaction demanded of the player other than throwing dice and the occasional Choice situation. The true interaction comes in the mental aspect of the game, like planning out the angles and card write-ups. So how would this be captured in video game form?
To capture that, I would think this game would be more of a match simulator that would need a very sophisticated AI. Player 1 vs. Player 2 or Player 1 vs. Computer with moves assigned to different button combos, a la any other wrestling game on the market, would seem to betray the game mechanics.

It would be different because the media is different. You can;t think of a video game as a port of the card game but an addition to the COTG universe. The "cool" factor would come from the innovative characters and movesets. Imagine a career mode with a wrestling game based on the COTG universe. Better yet, moving wayyyy out, an MMOG where players interact within a "federation" that is managed/booked by an actual player in the role of GM. Players can be traded or move up to other federations, a true role play experience. The possibilities are truly endless. Now the funding, that would be a different story.
Take the game aspect out of it. If someone were to be able to do the animation, you could create web episodes of the game characters.
Wow, when I brain dump I brain dump LOL

Wow, when I brain dump I brain dump LOL This was my thinking exactly. It would have to be a companion piece to the COTG universe but not an update of the actual game itself. The original poster, I believe, was asking about turning the game itself into a video game. The web episodes thing sounds cool. A simple video game wouldn't do COTG justice IMO, but an animated series ... now that's another thing entirely.

If we get members of the Filsinger community to do the voice acting, I think neilybob would be perfect to play Mimic.
