PNW 18 - Portland Wrestling from Klamath County Event Center, Klamath Falls, OR. February 1, 1980
Sgt. Slaughter absolutely crushed Steve Regal in minutes with a throat drop on the ropes - SQUASH - Slaughter didn't come to fool around and wanted to show the fans in Klamath Falls he means business in PNW.
Magnum T.A. put Tom Prichard out with a sleeper to win their Grudge Match - ★★½ - Magnum T.A. thrilled the crowd with a dominant victory over his rival.
Don Leo Jonathan defied all odds and made Doug Somers submit to a bear hug in his Handicap Match against Somers and Buddy Rose - ★★★★ - Towards the end of the match, after Jonathan had laid out Somers and was beating the hell out of Rose, a hulking giant of a man (Angelo Mosca) rushed the ring and charged Jonathan. Jonathan side stepped the big man and the interloper went crashing outside the ring and disappeared into the crowd. Who was this big man? The fans are behind Jonathan 100%
In the Main Event, Dutch Savage and Adrian Adonis beat The Destroyer and The Grappler when Savage covered Grappler after a JUMPING PILEDRIVER - ★★★★½ - A heck of a main event here! The Destroyer and The Grappler got in some offense but this match was mainly all Savage and Adonis!

PNW 19 from Portland Armory, Portland, OR. - February 22, 1980
The show started with a huge shocker as the man known in Golden State Wrestling as Mr. Perfect made his way to the ring! He called for an opponent, any opponent and Kenny Jay answered that call!
Mr. Perfect used the HENNIG PLEX to beat Kenny Jay without too much trouble - ★ - Jay did get some offense in but Hennig was able to handle him pretty quickly.
After the bell, Don Coss asked Mr. Perfect about his appearance here tonight. He said he is a free agent now and no long Mr. Perfect. He's wrestling under his real name, Curt Hennig and has come to Pacific Northwest Wrestling to scope out the competition and he might stay awhile if he likes what he sees.
Sgt. Slaughter used the COBRA CLUTCH to make Doug Somers submit in a highly competitive match - ★★★★ - This was one of the best matches Somers has ever wrestled and he brought the fight to Sarge! It took everything Slaughter had to get the win.
Don Leo Jonathan came to the ring and demanded that Buddy Rose bring his 'giant' friend to the ring. After a few moments, Rose did appear with the large man we saw attempt to interfere on card PNW 18 - Portland Wrestling. Rose introduced him as Angelo Mosca and Jonathan challenged him to a match then and there. Mosca agreed!
Angelo Mosca shocked the crowd by putting Don Leo Jonathan out with a SLEEPER at the end of a brutal back and forth match - ★★★★ - This was hard hitting as these two monsters threw everything at each other.
After the bell, Buddy Rose rushed the ring and both he and Mosca began a beatdown on the unconscious Jonathan! Several wrestlers ran in from the back to chase Rose and Mosca off. Jonathan was immediately tended to medics but appeared to be injured. Don Coss announced that Rose and Mosca had been immediately suspended for 5 cards.
In a Grudge Match, Magnum T.A. used the BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX to beat Tom Prichard - ★★½ - Prichard was on fire at the start but Magnum was able to put him away.
In a Steel Cage Match, Adrian Adonis used GOODNIGHT IRENE to put out The Grappler and escape - ★★★ - This one was very one sided. Adonis barely broke a sweat.
In a match for the Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship, Dutch Savage and The Destroyer brawled to a DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION - ★★ - The action spilled outside of the ring and the ref lost all control. Both Savage and Destroyer began smashing each other with anything they could find and the ref had to call it.

Dutch retains by any means necessary... Generating some great heat with The Destroyer in the process... A brutal main event to close out a fun card!

PNW 20 from the Portland Armory in Portland, OR.
Buddy Rose has brought in Nord the Barbarian to challenge Don Leo Jonathan!
Nord the Barbarian beats Nacho Barrera with a LEG DROP - ★ - Not the impressive debut Rose had hoped for but Nord the Barbarian sends a message to Don Leo Jonathan with this victory.
Curt Hennig uses the figure four leg lock to beat Steve Regal - ★★
Sgt. Slaughter uses the COBRA CLUTCH to beat The Grappler - ★ - Another big victory by the popular newcomer. Slaughter is now 4-0 here in PNW.
In a Coal Miner's Glove Match, Dutch Savage beats The Destroyer after a SMASH WITH THE COAL MINER'S GLOVE to retain the Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship - ★★★★½ - An incredible match! The PNW fans get a huge assist by throwing Savage the glove after it tumbles into the audience.

PNW 21 - Portland Wrestling from Klamath County Event Center, Klamath Falls, OR.
Magnum T.A. beat Jake Milliman with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX - ★ - Milliman gave Magnum a run for his money in this one and after the match, the two shook hands.
Brickhouse Brown put Kenny Jay away in short time with a FLYING BODY PRESS - SQUASH - After the match, Brown told Don Coss that his eyes were on the Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Championship.
Curt Hennig beat The Grappler with a HENNIG-PLEX - ★★ - For the past few days, The Grappler had been scoffing that Hennig was the better technical wrestler than he was. Hennig proved it here, even surviving The Grappler's Loaded Boot!
In the Main Event, Don Leo Jonathan pinned Nord the Barbarian after a noggin knocker with an interfering Buddy Rose - ★★½ - Jonathan thwarted Nord the Barbarian at every turn and the fans loved every minute of it.
Don Leo Jonathan has now sent two 'giants' packing! Buddy Rose shouted he would find someone who could topple Jonathan or he'd do it himself! Don Leo Jonathan welcomed the challenge.

Liking the Jonathan/Rose fued. So how small is the Portland roster? Currently only 13 guys. All singles, no tag teams. Though I may start pairing a few of the 13 up. |
