Yes, another reboot. I have lost count how many times. I just found I spend more time editing my results and not enough time playing the game. I am very excited about the way things have gone so far. Hope everyone takes the time to follow along.
Card #1 – LWF @ Hamburg, PA – Fieldhouse
Commissioner Charlie Cox opens the first card by addressing the fans talking about the rich history of wrestling at the Fieldhouse and how wrestling history will be made again tonight with the first ever LWF card. The LWF Title Tournament gets underway with sixteen competitors battling in eight matches. The winners advance in the LWF Title Tournament, the losers will compete in the United States Title Tournament.
Match 1: Nick Bockwinkel (1) v. The Sandman (16)
Despite the support of the PA fans, The Sandman offers little challenge to the LWF Tournament’s top seed. Bockwinkel cruises to a victory with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.
Match 2: Killer Kowalski (8) v. Harley Race (9)
Kowalski starts the action before the bell but Race rams Kowalski into the steel ringpost but is unable to put Kowalski away with a PILEDRIVER. Both men are a bloody mess by the midway mark of the match. Race traps Kowalski in the ropes and hammers away taking out the referee in the process earning himself a disqualification. Kowalski moves on in the LWF Title Tournament.
Match 3: Frank Gotch (4) v. Red Bastien (13)
Handshake starts the action. Bastien shocks many by taking the fight to Gotch picking up multiple near falls early in the contest. Gotch slows Bastien’s attack with a series of rolling knee bars and the action evens out. Gotch plants Bastien with an Iowa backdrop and puts Bastien away with a GOTCH TOE HOLD. A Handshake leads to standing ovation.
Match 4: Jimmy Snuka (5) v. Ox Baker (12)
Solid action from bell to bell. Snuka survives a pair of HEART PUNCHES and Baker kicks out after a SUPERFLY LEAP (1). The highspot of the match comes about halfway through when Snuka dives over the ropes onto Baker at ringside. Things end at ringside with both men brawling and a bloody Baker clocks Snuka with a chairshot getting himself disqualified.
Match 5: Buddy Rogers (2) v. Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré (15)
The fans cannot stand either man but back the Nature Boy after a long intro for George. Rogers dominates the early action and George takes several powders at ringside drawing huge heat. Dupré distracts the referee allowing George to choke Rogers on the ring rails at ringside. George escapes a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE by grabbing the ropes while Rogers survives a pair of SPINNING TOE HOLDS. Rogers uses a steel chair on George at ringside and is disqualified. George moves on in a huge upset.
Match 6: Johnny Valentine (7) v. The Destroyer (10)
Destroyer is able to frustrate Valentine from the opening bell both in and out of the ring. Destroyer pushes Valentines pin count to 7 before trapping him in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Greg Valentine & Playboy Buddy Rose try to get to the ring to save Valentine but security prevents the interference and Valentine submits for the 2nd upset in a row.
Match 7: Bobo Brazil (3) v. King Kong Bundy (14)
Brazil might be the most popular competitor in the LWF. Brazil looks like he will take an early win with a COCO BUTT in the bout’s second move but the action goes on. Bundy cannot put Brazil away with an AVALANCHE. A big hammer punch puts Bundy on his seat and Brazil ends it with a COCO BUTT.
Match 8: Giant Baba (6) v. Ted DiBiase w/Virgil (11)
DiBiase takes a thrashing throughout the contest. Midway through the match, Baba blocks DiBiase charge into the corner with a boot to the face followed by two NECKBREAKER DROPS. Somehow DiBiase kicks out and action continues. Virgil distracts the referee saving a bloody DiBiase from a third NECKBREAKER DROP and later Virgil interferes, breaking up what would have been the three count after a Baba Chop. DiBiase manages to block a deathjump smash with a boot to the face and then traps Baba in a figure four leglock. Baba cannot escape and DiBiase is onto the LWF Title Tournament.
Up next, we head to North Bergen, NJ where the United States and LWF Title Tournaments continue.
