I have Weather Channel on at work due to the hurricane coming our way. They showed video camera footage for I-4 Eastbound around Plant City with bumper-to-bumper traffic. They said it was a sign of people evacuating from the Tampa area. I work about 15-17 miles down the road from where they were showing. Traffic is light and moving at a normal pace. My guess is it is backed up over there due to an accident. It is not due to people evacuating although a lot are as we are sold out Wednesday and Thursday and been turning a lot of people away.

Kind of reminds me of the "Super Typhoon" alerts we get here in the Philippines. EVERYTHING is cancelled the next day whenever we get a warning like that: school, work, everything. Then the next day comes and it's one of the most perfect day ever and everyone's out enjoying the park and just having the a nice holiday in the middle of the week It's been like that the past four "Super Typhoons" I remember over the recent years. It's better than being caught flatfooted with an actual calamity though.

That last part is true. It why weather people in general will error on the worse side. Like when I lived in the Midwest, they would overestimate the inches of snow we would get. Better for people to be over prepared then under and be caught in a bad situation.

LOL, it's a case of "if it bleeds, it leads". Like when reporters get caught doing stuff like kneeling in a puddle to make it look like they're in a major flood or when they're acting like they are being blown around and people are seen walking behind them looking at them like they are morons. The media exists to manipulate your emotions through fear so they can sell you things to make you feel better in the commercial break.

My favorite is the reporter in a canoe reporting on the "deep" water via flooding and then someone walks behind them and it is not even up to their knees lol.
Of course, then there is the true shots like a neighborhood northwest of Orlando that had flooding and they were staying to stay out of it because of the alligator that was swimming in there and they showed it.
