“Thank you for calling the Appalachian Championship Wrestling Hotline. I’m Gordon Solie and here are the results from ACW’s Hell Night Super Show.”
Opening Match:
ACW Television Title
Triple Threat Match.
The Spoiler(c) vs The Patriot vs Alexis Smirnoff
This match was wild. All three competitors each looked as if they were going to pull out a win at one point. The match ended with Smirnoff pinning the Patriot after hitting his Heart Punch finisher.
Winner and new ACW Television Champion, Alexis Smirnoff.
The Russian celebrates with his team members, Ivan Koloff, Nikolai Volkoff, and Boris Zhukov. The Russians are pelted with popcorn and sodas as they leave the ring.
Second Match:
West Coast Wrestling Federation (WCWF) heavyweight championship.
Nick Bockwinkle(c) vs Black Jack Mulligan.
This match was sanctioned through an agreement between ACW and WCWF.
This match was hard hitting. Both men battled hard, but in the end, Bockwinkle used the ropes to choke Mulligan multiple times until he was too weak to kick out of Bockwinkle’s pin attempts.
Winner, and still WCWF Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkle.
Third Match:
Russian Chain Match.
Winner must incapacitate his opponent in order to touch all four top turnbuckles without interruption.
Ivan Koloff vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
Another wild match! This looked to be a one sided match because of the injuries Duggan received from the Russian’s attack on him two weeks ago. That was not the case. Duggan surprised everyone by taking the fight to the Russian Bear early on. Despite his injuries from that previous attack it looked as though Duggan might score the upset. Unfortunately for Duggan, Koloff hit the Russian sickle, and was able to drag the bloodied Duggan to all four corners, winning the match.
Winner: Ivan Koloff
Fourth match:
All Pacific Wrestling (APW) Heavyweight Championship.
Antonio Inoki(c) vs Vader
This match was sanctioned through an agreement between ACW and APW.
Antonio Inoki and Vader battled back and forth with each man hitting multiple finishers. After Inoki hit consecutive Enziguri finisher’s, a frustrated Vader left the ring. Inoki gave chase, but Vader grabbed the timekeeper’s bell and hit Inoki with it, causing the disqualification.
Winner: Inoki by disqualification.
Match Five:
ACW Tag Team Championships
The Road Warriors(c) vs The James Gang.
The Road Warriors dominated the match early on, taking Kip James out of the match early. After finally getting the tag, B.G. James attempted a cross body block off the top rope on Hawk, but accidentally hit the referee, knocking him out. The two teams brawled all over the ringside area, until the referee woke up just in time to see Animal slam B.G. James through a ringside table, and called for the Disqualification.
Winner: The James Gang by disqualification.
ACW rules dictate that a championship can not change hands on a disqualification. The Road Warriors retain their belts despite the loss.
Main Event:
ACW Heavyweight Championship
Prison Cell Match*
Curt Hennig(c) vs Magnum T.A.
This match is the punctuation mark on a feud that’s been running between these two men for two years. The two men battled all over the inside of the cell, eventually busting out the door to the outside. Then both men climbed to the top of the cell with Magnum in position to powerbomb Henning. Hennig reversed it with a back body drop causing Magnum to land on top the cell’s chain link ceiling and climbed back down. Magnum recovered and followed. The two men battled around the inside of the cell until Magnum took control again. After battling outside the cell a second time, a battered Hennig climbed to the top again, but couldn’t escape from Magnum’s second powerbomb attempt. Magnum’s powerbomb sent Hennig crashing through the top of the cell and landed hard in the ring. After climbing back into the ring, Magnum finally finished Hennig off with his Belly to Belly Suplex finisher for the pin.
Winner and NEW ACW Heavyweight Champion, Magnum T.A.
