I have never been nominated for an award before and I don't expect to win this thing, but I am honored to be nominated. I hope it is OK to post this here in Announcements (if not I can delete this post.)
Some of you may have seen this as I posted it on Facebook, but I was shocked at work today to find out here in Nevada I was nominated for the 2023 Heart of Education Awards.
I got nominated for "your exceptional teaching skills and your efforts to go above and beyond to teach, mentor, and inspire your students."
Last year my AP World History students passed their AP World History exam at a rate that beat the world by 14% and the state of Nevada by 21% and none of my students scored a minimal 1 as they all demonstrated enough knowledge to score a 2 or higher. I was nominated for the award by one of my AP students from last year.
I don't know, I do not consider myself an award-winning teacher as I just work hard and try to do my best. We will see what happens at the awards ceremonies at the downtown Smith Center in 2023.

I actually got nominated for the Heart of Education by a second person (my supervisor.) My supervisor is awesome!
Here in Nevada, this is apparently a very prestigious teaching award and I am shocked that both a student and my supervisor nominated me for this honor (which I had not even heard of before being nominated for it.) I filled out the application form and I am waiting to find out if I am declared a finalist for the awards ceremony in April.
Regardless if I become a finalist or not, I am very proud of my students for what they achieved last year. I had the best AP scores for my entire high school and I will always continue to work hard at my job whether I get nominated for an award or not. I just want my students to do well and be successful, I really don't need an award but I feel honored to receive multiple nominations for it.

Seeing both a student and a supervisor nominated you I would think you will at least be in the finalist list. Hopefully that comes with a ceremony and free dinner. Of course, the free dinner is just something I would be after if I was nominated for something online with what you were.
