A couple weeks ago when I got home from work on Saturday I was flipping thru channels and discovered that my CW was carrying WOW. I only saw the main event and it was interesting. The show has the feel of a studio show from late 80's or early 90's. Like GLOW or American Gladiators. The wrestling was a bit sloppy as a few botches including the finish that might have injured the one taking the move and pin. Ref threw up the X after the pin. I am going to try and remember to turn it on after work on Saturdays to catch last half or so of the show. I mean wrestling is wrestling and it is only all women show on regular TV that I know of right now.

Just caught legend Malia Hosaka on the show. Good to see her still working in the business and looking so good.
I'm not a sports entertainment fan normally, but this show has a self-aware hokeyness I enjoy. It's a breezy hour and the short matches don't overstay their welcome. I also appreciate that the action, such as it is, pretty much confines itself to the squared circle.

Should mention that Jeannie Buss, April Punk and Selina Majors are involved with this show, in addition to David McLane.

Caught the end of the episode last night and AJ Mendez (Lee) was on commentating for the main event. Damn she is so adorable.

Yea no disrespect to the roster, as I do not know a lot of them, but I am trying to learn, but Holidead gives a lot of shine to them. It is awesome she is there. Plus, in the past they had Kiera Hogan and Diamante there and they were tag team champions. I think it is cool that WOW let them team. I could use more of that in my life. |

Found out today they air the show Saturday afternoon as well. So, I watched a bit before leaving for work. I saw something I do not recall having seen before. Princess Ausie (face) was trying to go to the top rope to finish her opponent off. Lana Star (heel's manager) went over and laid on top of the turnbuckle to keep Princess from being able to get on it. As Princess complained to the referee who was telling Lana to get down the heel recovered and attacked Princess to get the win. Just thought the laying on the turnbuckle was a cool spot.

Can't believe it has been almost a year since I posted on this thread. Where does the time go.
While WOW is looking more and more like a slightly better version of GLOW they did something recently that I have never seen that I likes. A twist on some wrestling traditions.
First they had a trios tournament but instead of listing the teams in the bracket at the start they would show a few at a time. The reasoning for this is if someone got eliminated in the opening round they could reenter but on a different team. I know they did this due to the smaller size of their roster but it was still cool. It is something I will try down the line. That way if someone I want to go far, be it a single wrestler or a tag team, lose in the first round thanks to those damn dice I can bring them back and hope they advance the second time.
Second one of the teams was Team Spirt. They were led by Coach Campanelli, a motivator who as a face showed some heel tendencies. She had two women with her in Team Spirt but I think one got injured and the injured woman recruited someone else which did not sit well with the coach. As it was, the man in charge, David McLane, said as long as Coach was on the team she could use any two women on Team Spirit. They made it to the finals and Coach came out first and said she would decide who would be on the bench. Then the three other women of Team Spirit came out with a literal bench. They placed it down ring side and entered the ring. The Coach did a promo and told the injured woman to take the bench. It seemed the team was set but then Coach told another of the team to take the bench. That left her with one tag partner in the ring. She then introduced the newest member of the team, the woman who's character is that of a jazzercise cardio workout nut. Just when it looked like Coach's team was set she told the other original member to hit the bench. She introduced the second newest member, Candy Crush. A supposedly former boxer. Coach and her new team went on to win the finals of the trios tournament. Then things got interesting.
Third is Coach was handed the trophy and we have seen what happens in those situations. It happened here but with a twist I have not seen before. The women on the bench entered the ring all happy for the winners. Team Spirit was now 6 women strong. Coach said she wanted to dedicate the win to the woman who got injured and went behind her back. Basically Coach gave a back handed compliment that was more a verbal slap. The woman stepped forward and then Coach hit her with the trophy. I am used to the winner of a trophy being attacked and the trophy destroyed. I do not recall seeing the winner of a trophy being the one to use it as a weapon. Then the newest members of the team jumped the other two original members. After that Coach stood with the two new members and said Team Spirit was dead and they were Top Tier. Cool name for a group.
