I remember seeing a trailer years ago before it was put on hold and release was pushed back. I was not interested in it as it seemed they were making a horror movie. But being a movie watcher and into superheroes I decided to give it a watch. It was better than I expected. There really is not the horror aspect here. One big scene that was creepy/scary was removed but is in the deleted scenes section of the DVD. It has been decades since I read New Mutants but to me the movie captured a lot of the feel of those issues from 80s/90s. Only issue was the choice of actor for Sunspot. Nothing against the actor but the character was of mix race in the comics, and they went with a pure Brazilian actor. It is interesting seeing how a lot of characters are being redone to show more diversity in the comic universe, which should have been done originally but that is a discussion for another day, yet they had the chance to cast someone of diversity to fit the character but passed on it. Overall, it was not a great movie to me, quite a few issues that are mostly nick picking, but it was not terrible. It is a shame the sequels were axed. I think with some good writing and direction this could have been a good series. I like the cast overall and thought they were headed in the right direction.

FOX sold all the characters back to marvel and I doubt the MCU has any plans to do anything with the New Mutants anytime soon. Logan and Deadpool was the only decent Marvel movies FOX made in 20 years of having the characters.
