Barry Windham Hospitalized After Suffering Heart Attack, Currently In ICU
Barry Windham is currently hospitalized after suffering a heart attack on Friday. News of Windham’s hospitalization was announced by Mika Rotunda, Windham’s niece (and the daughter of Windham’s former tag team partner, Mike Rotunda.)
Windham went into cardiac arrest on Friday and had a life-saving procedure after being admitted to the hospital. As of now, the family is waiting for more news about his status moving forward. Mika set up a GoFundMe account to help with Windham’s hospital bills:

I hope he kicks out but as for the Go Fund Me page, how does he NOT have health insurance? Not trying to kick him when he's down, but with his father being in the business and seeing what he endured, plus all the old timers you were surrounded by, how could you NOT get health insurance back in your heyday of the late 80's? I'm baffled by this. Again, I'm pulling for him.

I don't know Barry's circumstances in regards to his health insurance, but I know in general in the past it has sometimes been difficult for wrestlers to get health insurance. This was years ago, but I remember Colt Cabana talking about this on his podcast once and how he got turned down by a health insurance company because they found out he was a professional wrestler. I got to meet Barry Windham at the Hall of Fame in Waterloo last year. He was my current champion at the time and he seemed to enjoy me telling him how good his LOW card (which he autographed) was doing for me in my fed. I hope Barry Windham has a full recovery. |

Does it say he has no health insurance on the Go Fund Me? It is possible that even with insurance he will have tons of bills. Depends on deductible and what they will or more so will not cover. But if no health insurance he is just your typical American deciding where they can spend their money. Used to be companies offered benefits like insurance but for the most part that has gone the way of the dodo bird.
