I have been watching ECW Hardcore TV from the start. I am about a year in at this point. A few thoughts so far.
- Before each pair of episodes, there is a statement about the quality of the picture due to being old and stuff, but it will not affect enjoyment. That is true of the picture which has had its issues for sure, but the sound is another thing. I have to crank my TV up to 50 to hear decently and even then, I miss some things. The funny thing is about 40 or so episodes in the picture and sound came out like watching something new so I had to bring the volume back down to high teens to low 20s where I set it for most things I watch. After a few good episodes quality wise it went back to a bad one before back to good stuff.
- I got bored after a few months of episodes as it became like an infomercial more than a TV show. I mean there are plenty of company commercials during each episode and a lot of replays but for a few episodes it seemed that is all they did.
- It has been fun watching them go from a more traditional wrestling company, even if a fair amount of moves were botched and/or sloppy, to the more controversial and hardcore promotion. They did miss one chance to have some fun when Terry Funk and Arn Anderson formed a tag team for a super card. I would have called the team Funk-n-Anderson. Maybe they were afraid someone saying the name would slip up and actually swear.
- I had heard of The Sandman doing a surfer gimmick in his early days but it was something to see. If we ever get an updated color card for him I would love two versions. One as his better-known smoking and drinking version and one as a surfer. I mean the neon colors of his bodysuit could pop on the card.
- It has been fun seeing Jimmy Snuka as a heel. My previous experience was of his later days in WWF as a face. He should have been a heel a lot more in my opinion.
- You can see how the company was low budget and working on things based on naming of super cards, including at least one chance in the weeks of advertising leading up to it, and of course the changing of cards due to talent not being available.
- It has been fun seeing some of the lesser-known guys who were the foundation of the company during their Eastern days.
