Incredible action in the last few bouts. What an upset win for Dr. X. Can he follow up on that? Cool to see Roddy Piper, Killer Kowalski and Lou Thesz go through. Shocking elimination of Buddy Rogers and Larry Zbyszko via DDQ. As tough as Animal is, I'm going with Jack Brisco next.

Jack Brisco (10) v. Road Warrior Animal w/Paul Ellering (55)
Brisco appears to have all the right moves to neutralize the Road Warrior’s power until Animal press slams Brisco in the middle of the ring. Animal does it again to prove a point. Brisco wants to target lower body, Animal wants to slam his opponent into the corners and the mat. Brisco begins to get the worse of it with Animal connecting with jumping elbow drops and flying shoulder rams. Animal whips Brisco into the corner . . . NO ONE HOME for the charge. Roll up for one (R7/P2). Brisco scales the corner . . . Deathjump crossbody . . . Marella counts 1, 2, ¾ (R4/P3). ROLLING REVERSE CRADLE . . . Ellering distracts! Lateral guillotine . . . Jack Brisco and Pat Patterson moving on... Proper thing!
I really like Muldoon... Too bad this round will be a NAIL IN THE COFFIN! Of course I'm picking my Vampire brother... Was there ever any doubt? I trust not!

I like Vampiro but the Solid Man may just be a bit too much here.

William Muldoon (26) v. Vampiro (39)
Talk about a contrast in styles. Muldoon makes everything look painful. Vampiro kicks land. Shoulder throw downs Vampiro. Vampiro rebounds out of the corner with a clothesline. NAIL IN THE COFFIN. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). Powerbomb lands, one handed bulldog does not. Nether can land a move. Hammerlock & ½ nelson slows it down. Muldoon takes over. Kicks in the corner after whips. Vampiro into the ropes . . . noggin knocker on the rebound! Muldoon is up first . . . Scorpion death lock . . . Vampiro to the ropes and the floor. Muldoon follows. Dr. Mike Lano captures the exchange of forearms and punches. No counter to Vampiro’s kicks. Vampiro takes it back to the floor for more. Inside, Vampiro with superkick. Dropkick misses. Vampiro whipped to the corner . . . bounces out… COLLISION. Both are down! Muldoon is up first . . . side salto countered, whip to the corner and kick. Vampiro on the offensive. Urange. Back elbow. Into the corner . . . clothesline counter from Muldoon! Slams and throws from Muldoon. Vampiro countering with Muldoon . . . Scorpion death lock by Vampiro! Superkick lands! Top rope spin kick. More kicks. Muldoon looks stunned. Urange, another, jump back kick and a third Urgange! Into the ropes . . . tackle by Muldoon! Whip to the corner and kick. Whip across the ring… Muldoon charges . . .Vampiro moves! James Beard is in position 1, 2, ¾ (R3/P2). Power bomb . . .1 count only! (R11/P3). OUT OF MY SEAT! Counter each other perfectly. Kicks are no longer landing for Vampiro. Superkick connects . . .Muldoon falls to the floor. Muldoon crawls back in. Power bomb. Muldoon bails. Back in. Another power bomb. One handed bulldog… WORKS! Whip to the corner . . . Another clothesline counter from Muldoon! BODY LIFT & THROW. 1 COUNT ONLY (R8/P3). Vampiro caught with kick and rebounded into a back body drop. Both men countering again. Vampiro hard into the corner . . . rebounds with a clothesline! Vampiro with spinning round kick. Whip to the corner . . . DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE… BOTH GO DOWN! Both men are dazed. Cannot get an advantage. Muldoon into the ropes . . . backdrop countered with a piledriver. Double shoulder lock. Middle of the ring . . . VAMPIRO SUBMITS!
Vampiro is out in the opening round after a hard fought battle.
When I was filling out the brackets, this next match immediately caught my attention and was one that I was looking forward to playing out. . . Former partners collide!
