Announcing the Magnificent Wrestling Association!



I attended a Prestige Wrestling show in Pomona, CA in early 2022 that changed my life in unexpected ways. While waiting for the show to start, I could swear I saw Chikara alumnus "Smooth Sailing" Ashley Remington across the room. I went to introduce myself but it turns out it was Dalton Castle wearing a suit. He was kind about my misunderstanding and we chatted about wrestling for a few minutes.


Following the show, "Mr. Castle" pulled me aside and said we needed to talk. It turns out he was, in fact, Ashley Remington and was disguised due to issues with the IRS. Mr. Remington acknowledged my passion for independent wrestling and proposed a way his wealth could benefit us both. I'm now the General Manager and Head Booker for the new indy wrestling company Magnficent Wrestling Association, funded by Ashley Remington's sizeable inheritance. My mission is to put on the best indy wrestling shows possible while making as little money as possible. (Perhaps we should be called the Tax Shelter Wrestling Association?)


MWA will be holding tapings on a bi-weekly basis at venues throughout California. These tapings will be syndicated into the weekly show MWA Tusslemania, featuring 4-6 matches per show. We are also in talks to begin holding internet pay-per-views at some point down the line.


The Roster:

MWA features a mix of indy talent, Impact wrestlers, and perhaps some suprises along the way. Harkening back to Mr. Remington's days in Chikara, MWA hosts men, women, and non-binary talent under the "Equal Rights, Equal Fights" doctrine. Anyone on the roster is eligible to compete for the MWA Championship or MWA Tag Team Championships.

Behind the Curtain:

This is my first attempt at running an ongoing fed, as well as documenting it on the board. I have some idea of where stories will evolve and I'm sure the dice have their own ideas. This is an extremely hodge podge mix of talent without any clear talent tiers. The roster will likely evolve with special appearances and folks moving on along the way. Any feedback or advice is always appreciated as I undertake this tax shelt...I mean wrestling adventure on behalf of Mr. Remington.

MWA Tusslemania: Episode 1

Taped at World Records Concert Hall in Bakersfield California on 12/29/22



Match 1: Jody Threat vs. The Whisper

Threat used a combination of speed & power to keep The Whisper off-guard throughout the early stages of the match. The Whisper was able to take control via Hot Shot and slowed down the pace, mimicking Threat's moves to frustrate her. This strategy led to Whisper's downfall as a missed corner backsplash allowed Threat to pick up the win via Northern Lights Suplex.

Result: Jody Threat defeats The Whisper via pinfall in 7:32.


Interview Segment: Commissioner "Smooth Sailing" Ashley Remington came to the ring to welcome the fans to the first MWA show. He announced a tournment will take place over the next three shows with four teams vying to earn the MWA Tag Team Titles. Su Yung rushed to the ring to a rousing round of boos. She complained that a travel booking error led to her team, The Revolt, to miss this show. Su accused Mr. Remington of conspiring to keep the surefire favorites out of the tournment. Mr. Remington promised that the Revolt would be present for the next tapings and would have the first shot at the inaugural champions.


Match 2: Danger Zone (Kc Spinelli & Courtney Rush) vs. Incoherence (Hallowicked & Frightmare)

Danger Zone used quick tags to keep the advantage on Frightmare throughout the first half of the match. Frightmare eventually rolled out of the ring, then crawled beneath it to get to his partner! Hallowicked overpowered both members of Danger Zone and kept them on the defensive for several minutes. Things broke down once Frightmare was tagged back in as Rush countered a double-team Sleepy Hollow and hit an Olympic Slam on Frightmare for the victory.

Result: Danger Zone defeats Incoherence via pinfall in 11:15.


Match 3: Kevin Blackwod vs. Shane Taylor

Blackwood rocked Taylor early with several big strikes, however follow-up pinfalls barely managed a one-count. Both men began brawling on the floor with Taylor getting the upper hand. He brutalized Blackwood with a series of quick suplexes and clotheslines back in the ring, setting up a risky top rope splash and the Taylor Made (front powerslam) for the win.

Result: Shane Taylor defeats Kevin Blackwood via pinfall in 4:10.


Match 4: Andrew Everett vs. Edith Surreal

Neither wrestler was able to get an advantage in the opening moments as both countered lucha-style armdrags and head scissors. Surreal countered a backdrop attempt with a quick piledriver that sent Everett rolling to the floor. Everett then reversed a whip into the ringside steps. Surreal was dazed enough for Everett to spring to the top turnbuckle and hit a shooting star press all the way to the floor! Surreal was able to beat the count and changed tactics. A series of stretches and submission moves from Surreal saw Everett off-guard, allowing Surreal to lock in Venus De Milo and get a reluctant tap out from Everett.

Result: Edith Surreal defeats Andrew Everett by submission in 9:45.


Main Event: The Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall) vs. 5150 (Slice Boogie & Danny Limelight)

Ross and Marshall used a series of wrestling basics to keep 5150 on the defensive for the first few minutes. Boogie took things to the floor where he rammed Ross into a wall several times, leaving Ross barely able to beat the count. An early Street Sweeper from 5150 led to a close nearfall on Ross. A standing Spanish Fly from Limelight got another close count on Ross. A mixxed deathjump by Boogie allowed Ross to get the hot tag to Marshall. Marshall caught Boogie with a huge discus clothesline, followed by the Iron Claw/Back Suplex combo with his brother to put Boogie away.

Result: The Von Erichs defeat 5150 by pinfall in 14:03.


Post-Match: The Von Erichs celebrated with the crowd and took their attention off of 5150. Limelight motioned to the back and Homicide and Hernandez both ran down to ringside. The numbers of 5150 and LAX combined overwhelmed the Von Erichs, leaving the brothers lying outside the ring. Referees finally ran out to run interference and send 5150 & LAX to the back. The Von Erichs celebrated with the crowd and took their attention off of 5150. Limelight motioned to the back and Homicide and Hernandez both ran down to ringside. The numbers of 5150 and LAX combined overwhelmed the Von Erichs, leaving the brothers lying outside the ring. Referees finally ran out to run interference and send 5150 & LAX to the back.
