Hack vs Gotch is the classic. Go Tricky Nicky. My strategy is not to throw a constant steady stream of heavy hitters against the champions... Give them a chance to build a respectable reign... Tricky Nicky should be able to get past Konnan... Of course, those dice can be just as tricky. HA! The vintage guys are mainly being used as special attractions... I'm eager to see how this main event plays out... Always appreciate the continued interest, my friend... Many thanks!

Konnan would have beaten Tricky Nicky for the belt if he didn't have the Brain in his corner a while back.

Bock managed to beat Jack Brisco pretty handily in that I Quit match, so I figured I should feed him a couple easier ones... Not pushovers though and Konnan is plenty tough... It should be a decent match... Truly appreciate the great feedback, my friend... Many thanks!

American Showdown Wrestling #19 HACKENSCHMIDT vs. GOTCH
SCOTTY RIGGS def. Marcus Alexander Bagwell via pinfall after a FIVE-ARM. -- Tokens: Riggs 1 - Bagwell 2 -- Both men displayed their athletic prowess in this back and forth exchange. Riggs took a shortcut, nailing Bagwell with a low blow that went unseen by the referee.
MELINA def. Rockin Robin via pinfall after a LAST CALL. -- Tokens: Robin 2 -- Although she managed to offer some token resistance, Robin failed to generate any serious offense in this virtually one-sided encounter.
-- Ringside with Commissioner Teddy Long -- The commissioner was joined by S.D. Jones and Larry Sharpe, who was still nursing an injury. He informed both men that he was impressed with their past performances and since Sharpe would soon be cleared to compete again, he wanted them to face each other on the next card. As a bonus incentive, he added that the winner would receive a shot at the LWGP Catch Class Championship!
NICK BOCKWINKEL (w/ Bobby Heenan) def. Konnan to retain the LWGP United Open Championship. Bockwinkel tapped out Konnan with a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. -- Tokens: Bockwinkel 2 - Konnan 4 -- Coming in hot, Konnan shocked the champion and nearly scored an upset. Bockwinkel regained his composure, slowing down the pace to prevent Konnan from mounting another high impact assault. -- Gordon Solie conducted a post-match interview with Nick Bockwinkel and his manager, Bobby Heenan. They were interrupted by Blackjack Mulligan, who's history with Heenan and some of his other clients created some instant tension. Mulligan said that Bockwinkel spent too much time looking in a mirror to be a suitable champion. Allowing his pride to direct his response, Bockwinkel agreed to grant Mulligan a title shot at the nearest available opportunity!
FANTASTICS (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) def. Shogun Assassins (Mr Saito & Mr Fuji w/ Lou Albano) via DQ <manager interference> when Albano attacked Rogers to break up a near fall. -- Tokens: Fulton 2, Rogers 5 - Fuji 3 -- Gordon Solie conducted a prematch interview with the Assassins and their manager, Lou Albano. They had a lot to say about the Fantastics jumping the line for a title shot and were clearly fired up for this encounter. <Mr Saito started on Level 2 Offense.> -- Cheap tactics allowed the Assassins to maintain the upper hand until the Fantastics started firing on all cylinders for a thrilling comeback. Fuji was in trouble and Saito was busy trading blows with Fulton, so Albano decided to get involved. -- Gordon Solie conducted a post-match interview with the Fantastics. They were quickly interrupted by Albano and the Assassins, who were not pleased with the outcome. A wild brawl erupted and security was needed to pull the rival teams apart! A rematch was scheduled for the next card, but Albano would not be permitted at ringside.
SHANE DOUGLAS (w/ Francine) def. Jerry Lynn via pinfall after a PITTSBURGH PLUNGE. -- Tokens: Douglas 1 - Lynn 2 -- Both men pulled out all the stops in this emotionally charged conflict. A distraction by Francine helped Douglas avoid disqualification when he nailed Lynn with a wicked chairshot while the two men were brawling out on the floor.
FRANK GOTCH def. George Hackenschmidt via DQ <outside interference> when John Pesek rushed the ring and rolled Gotch into scissors & wristlock. -- Tokens: Hackenchsmidt 1 -- Gordon Solie conducted a prematch interview with George Hackenschmidt. He spoke his mind, making it clear that he wanted to test himself against Gotch to determine who was the better athlete. -- This highly anticipated match reached a disappointing conclusion due to unsolicited interference by Pesek when Gotch had put Hackenschmidt on the mat and locked in a GOTCH TOEHOLD. Neither man seemed to comprehend the reason for the intrusion and Pesek walked away without providing any answers.

Interesting ending to Hack and Gotch. Nice to see Bock retain. Hmmmmm... Interesting is one way to put it... LOL! I have a house rule that I roll for run-in interference whenever a wrestler is pinned on a roll of doubles -- I didn't like trying to determine when/if this kind of interference should take place, so I basically use this house to take the decision out of my hands... Unfortunately, it seems to happen more frequently than I would like and sometimes it doesn't really seem like a suitable scenario... In any case, that is what happened here... Pesek might be laying some groundwork for a future confrontation... Only time will tell, I guess. Always appreciate the input, my friend... Many thanks!

Is he trying to force a Triple-Threat Match? It's possible, my friend... Or he's performing his duties as an enforcer (for someone who chose to remain out of sight) by trying to take someone out... Vintage intrigue! Gotta love it!
