Vegas you're leaving us all hanging without your usual post-show wrap-ups.

Vegas you're leaving us all hanging without your usual post-show wrap-ups. lol, I did not do a recap of last weekend as it was a long weekend (11 shows in 4 days) so the recap would be really long too, plus I was not sure if anybody wanted to hear about it. I guess I could do a recap by breaking things down in days.

Oh I'd definitely read, Vegas. If you're up for it, I'd love to hear the experience.

Heck yeah, if you can post results daily, then you can recap daily! Nuff said, let's hear Zeke!

OK, I will do a recap from last weekend but break the recap posts down by days.
Day 1
I left work with permission about 25 minutes early (after my last class) to get to the airport as my flight was boarding in 90 minutes and my work is nowhere near the airport. On the way there, I got a text message that my flight was delayed so after I got through security I went to the airport cantina to get a 20 oz beer as I thought I now had to kill an hour. Right after I got my beer, I got another text saying my flight was now on time which meant boarding would soon start. I quickly asked for my check and downed 20 oz of beer and then ran to the gate only to find out that the flight was delayed again (apparently the plane they were going to use at another gate had an issue.) It turns out Greg Valentine, who lives here in Las Vegas, was on my flight as he was heading to Wrestlecon and I got to talk to Valentine at the gate for a few minutes during the flight delay.
I ended up landing in California about 2 1/2 hours later than originally scheduled so I had to miss Bloodsport, but I knew I would miss at least the start of that show anyway so I just had a GA ticket. When I got to The Collective, they were about to open the doors for DDT. One of my friends let me put my bags in her car (and she later drove me and my friends to our hotel room) and another one of my friends was working the door for GCW and he let me in the venue without having to go to the back of the long line.
DDT was alot of fun. I really liked the first match where Chris Brookes teamed up with Yoshihiko against The 37KAMIINA. Right after The 37KAMINA won the match, Brookes defeated MAO to become the new DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Champion but then Yoshihiko turned on Brookes and won the DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Championship. Yoshihiko is thus the current DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Champion. Some of the other matches I liked on the show were Eddie Kingston and Jun Akiyama vs DAMNATION T.A and the main event of Konosuke Takeshita vs Yuki Ueno.
The next show that night was that night's Midnight show which was GCW's For the Culture. Michael Oku (who I think wrestled in last year's For the Culture show in Dallas) was in attendance for this show. West Coast vs The World was fun and I also liked Bryan Keith vs 2 Cold Scorpio, but I think my two favorite matches that night were Myron Reed defending his BWM Championship against both Kevin Knight and Man Like DeReiss and also Trish Adora defending her Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling World Title against Calvin Tankman.
After the DDT show, I got my Chris Brookes card autographed and I got to give him copies of his card. Also, at some point on Day 1, I did sign an international wrestler for the game. I can't say who I signed, but it was not Yoshihiko who teamed with Chris Brookes that night.
During the For the Culture show, one of my other friends (who went to the Impact/NJPW supershow and then to Matt Cardona's podcast) showed up and he was drunk as hell lol. When we got back to the hotel in Hollywood, he fell while trying to walk up the stairs and then he walked into a wall. He normally does not drink that much but he was really wasted that night.
The Collective's venue this year was the Ukrainian Cultural Center which is the site for GCW's Los Angeles shows. On one hand, the UCC is too small for The Collective's biggest shows such as Spring Break and Bloodsport (both of which sold out instantly) but (unlike the Texas fair venue for last year's Collective) the venue has some good food options (last year's venue only sold beer and had no food) although not as good as when Grill 'Em All was doing the food.
By the time I got to sleep it was about 3 AM and I set my alarm for 6:15 AM because one of my friends I was staying with was working for The Collective and he had to be back there early the next morning. But I always have so much fun during Mania Weekend that I don't care if I barely sleep most nights (although the lack of sleep briefly caught up to me as I will get to on Day 4.)
I will post a Day 2 recap next.

I just watched For the Culture today. Good show, lots of people impressed me. G. Sharpe caught my eye again, I first saw him on an FSW show last year. I would love a card for him.

Glad to read the recap, Zeke. Shame about the flight delay but seemed you had a good time despite that.
