 The latest name in Best of the Indies 2023 is one of the hottest stars on the British wrestling scene, Michael Oku. Oku is a huge fan favorite and is the longest reigning cruiserweight champions in one of the top British promotions and has also begin making waves in the US Indie scene. Known as the Master of the Half Crab, he is one of the rare cruiserweights to finish off opponents with a submission maneuver. He has had classics with many of the top names on the British wrestling scene and its only a matter of time before he becomes one of the top wrestlers worldwide. Michael Oku joins Richard Holliday, Kerry Morton, Alan Angels, Starboy Charlie and Titus Alexander in Best of the Indies 2023, an 8 card expansion set featuring the best names in independent wrestling today. |

I was fortunate to sign Michael Oku for the game back in January before Night 1 of BOLA where he made his PWG debut. Oku's opponent that night was Konosuke Takeshita and they had IMO probably the best First Round match of this year's BOLA. The next night, Night 2 of BOLA, Oku was in the ring with Chris Jericho who was so impressed with Oku he immediately got Oku booked on AEW's upcoming show in London later this year.
some facts I learned about Oku while doing research and watching his matches while working on his card:
At #106 in the 2022 PWI 500, Oku says he was the highest unsigned UK talent on that 500 list.
Oku held the RevPro Undisputed British Cruiserweight Champion for almost 2 1/2 years which was an even longer reign than wrestlers such as Finn Balor and Will Ospreay.
Oku is the Master of the Half Crab and he often yells out "Now We Play!" as he applies his finisher.
In my Vegas Indy Universe (VIU,) Oku will of course be in Ring of England (ROE) and possibly some other feds too.
I really like all the names in this set, but Michael Oku is one of my favorites.

Oku or ojmo as he is sometimes known was my number 1 want. A fantastic signing and such an awesome guy to meet in person.
Can't wait to see how he does in my 225 fed and maybe WREV-1

Very excited for Michael Oku! I was hopeful he had been able to be signed after being over in the US a bit recently
