As far as house show shenanigans go, you never know when something might happen. Something like the wrestlers deciding to do something against orders along the lines of Race dropping the belt to Baba in Japan knowing he'd get it back a week later before leaving. In the Luna Vachon episode of Dark Side of the Ring, Madusa said she told Luna she wanted to drop the title to her at a show in Canada, and Luna wouldn't do it. I think the likelihood of anything out of the blue going on at a house show is a lot less now than back in the day.

Great episode. That Mark dude drew a lot of the cards mentioned in this one.....
Greatest match ever seen live? Wow, that's a good question. I was lucky enough to see some all time greats as a kid. Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat before WrestleMania 3 probably takes the win. Also saw Hogan vs Flair in one of their first matches together. Bret vs Flair was something. Undertaker vs Warrior: match quality wasn't "five stars" but the crowd was unglued and the loudest I think I've heard. A row of ringside seats got knocked over when fans jumped to their feet after Undertaker used the Tombstone on Warrior. It's those FEELINGS and the characters more than a cool sequence of moves that makes people pay to come back. Lesson to be learned there for the "workrate" generation.

It's always inspiring to hear fellow promoters talk about their own experiences with the game... I've always enjoyed the unique approach that stu employs with his mixing of the brands... Pure entertainment! Which is what this game should be all about... Thank you for sharing, my friend. I must ask... Which version of Godsend are you currently using? And have you used any other versions in the past? My favorite has always been the aCe version with the horns... But, I can see where the 2115 Revelations version would tempting... An absolute classic! Hello my friend, and thanks for listening! I have primarily used the aCe Godsend version, although have used his color cards a bit recently. But, the lion's share of his matches have been with the horn version. And there is absolute magic in that card. The card has a tendency to make incredible comebacks...very hard to put down! Thanks for listening, and in fact, thank you all for listening!

Best matches I've seen live. Couldn't pick just one but here's 7 in chronological order:
1) As a 7 year old this match on a random house show has always stood out in my mind. I wish there was some way to see it back.
7/24/85 - Buffalo, NY Killer Bees vs Les Thornton & Barry O
2) This was one of the coolest moments to be at live
3/30/08 - Orlando, FL (Wrestlemania 24)
Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels
3) Wrestlemania 26
3/28/10
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker
4) this was Tim Donst's return from cancer & the crowd was so incredibly into this match
7/10/15
Tim Donst vs Nick Gage
5) NXT Takeover: Dallas is one of the best complete shows I've ever attended.
4/1/16
American Alpha vs The Revival
6) same show...
4/1/16
Nakamura vs Sami Zayn
7) what a weekend this was...
4/2/16
Ricochet vs Will Ospreay

I agree with you, "Emperor Norton" (Mark T). I was at a house show with Warrior vs. Rude and we were in the third row. The match spilled out of the ring and they brawled all over ringside. People were going crazy standing on their chairs trying to see the action.

Yeah when I thought of my answer to this question (Steen vs Generico) I picked it because the atmosphere for the bout was incredible. A bunch of drunk wrestling fans going crazy watching these two wrestle. I don't think that match was ever released on DVD, would love to see it now.

Right on, Lee. it's the emotion these matches elicit on the spot that sticks with people. I saw some technically great matches live when ROH was firing on all cylinders, but then after these guys have gone an hour and done every move in the book it's like "okay, that's over". But you remember stuff like that Briscoe brothers promo. I'm not the biggest Steen fan but he can get a great emotional response out of fans.

Atmosphere adds a lot. Why the Hall of Fame show was so electric.

I've been lucky enough to go to some good shows with some great matches but a few matches stand out for me.
WWF/WWE I would probably go with Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect at Summerslam 1991
AEW I would go with Bryan Danielson vs Kenny Omega at Grand Slam 2021
On the Indies the 2 matches that stand out are El Generico vs Kota Ibushi vs Jigsaw vs Nick Jackson at King of Trios 2009 or El Generico vs The 123 Kid at King of Trios 2011.
I dont think its a coincidence seeing El Generico/Sami Zayne popping up on a few lists.

For the best matches I've seen live a few come to mind:
1. I saw a match between Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton at a house show a few years ago that absolutely tore the house down.
2. I haven't watched it in a few years so it may not hold up today but I remember the main event at In Your House: International Incident being pretty good. It was a Six Man Tag Team Match featuring Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson and Sid Vicious against Big Van Vader, Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith.
Fun Fact: If you've ever seen that video clip of all the fans leaning over the guardrail trying to slap Shawn Michaels hand only for the guardrail to tip over, that was from International Incident. I'm standing just out of camera shot there. To the best of my knowledge nobody was hurt in that incident.
3. Both matches in the double main event of Rock Bottom were excellent too: The Rock vs Mankind for the WWE Championship & Steve Austin vs The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match.
