It was my birthday recently so I browsed ebay for board games and found this gem from the 1980s.
The pitch is divided into a grid and sits in a plastic stadium, complete with advertising boards. You roll dice and move the ball around the pitch (and hopefully into the opponent's goal) and there are direction cards, action cards, situation cards and referee decision cards that keep the action going. Injuries, bookings and own goals can happen. The instructions recommend you play a full 90-minute match. It's best played between 2-5 players.
