Has anyone else seen a massive increase of junk/spam email? I usually just check my personal email at work meaning I would go about 16-18 hours between checking. In the past I would have at most 40-50 emails in the folder from the last time I cleaned it out. Over the last few weeks, it has been more like 60-80 and sometimes it is over 100 new ones. I figure I am getting about 5-10 an hour. It is just nuts because I used to scan them to make sure nothing important or of at least minor interest was sent there by mistake. Now I sometimes just delete them all without looking. I wonder if it is due to scammers just getting more desperate or the number of them using the same scams are growing.

Can't say that I have. Looks like your email address must have gotten sold to an aggressive spam company. Do you need help with your student loan debt? Would you like to save money on your Direct TV? Need some little blue pills perhaps? A quote on auto insurance?

Yea that makes sense. My favorite is the constant warning that someone was trying to hack the Facebook account that I do not have. Those and the misspelled heading not to mention the 10+ consonant email addresses from the sender.

Strangely enough this did happen to me last year for a few months but eventually it stopped (knock on wood).
Now it's back to just getting the occasional email about my Nigerian Bank Account being compromised or the odd pre-recorded phone message from "Canada Revenue Agency" saying that I owe thousands of dollars in back taxes and if I don't pay immediately I'll be sorry.
Hopefully this problem resolves itself quickly for you as well.

Likely I am getting more but since 97% goes to my spam folder, I really don't notice too much.

I log on and my junk folder has so many emails in there. If I was to believe them I must be the luckiest man alive because I win Ninja machines and tools and all kinds of crap on a daily basis.

Yeah pretty much. I just ignore and dump it every so often though I do try and make sure nothing actually important is in there.

about 5 years ago someone tried to get into our bank accounts and even called the bank trying to impersonate me. Luckily the bank was familiar with the tactics the person was using and called us direct, so we were able to stop him/her from getting at our accounts.
To bury the emails from the bank saying someone was trying to access the account, he/she used a program he/she must have created that added us to thousands of email lists...seriously thousands! Our mailbox exploded! took me a while to weed through them all, but eventually we were able to clean up the account. Since that event we get more spam than we did previous to is, but it 99% of it ends up in the spam folder and the other 1% is easy enough to Mark as spam".
The idea is to overload your email account with so many emails that you don't see the important ones...so, while we don't get "a lot" of spam I still watch that folder because of the experience we had with that individual.

Yeah, this is a big problem. Today I deleted a bunch of crap from my Inbox such as:
multiple Emails from Burial Insurance,
Emails from Hakeem Jeffries asking me for money,
Emails from the RNC asking me for money,
a scheduled interview with Amazon (I did not apply for a job with Amazon but I apparently have an interview there tomorrow,)
explicit messages from this crazy woman on Zoosk (I have not been on Zoosk for years)
Sometimes I Email a wrestler to help confirm their offense for cards I am working on in the Indy brand, I am not surprised when I do not hear back from them though as I am sure they get even more junk Email than we receive.

It seems to have finally slowed down. For the last week or so I have been back to only 50 or less junk emails instead of 80 or more. I guess the scammers were doing some spring cleaning and getting rid of old scam emails lol.
