It's now time for the 2009 annual MLW Draft which is taking place on today's debut episode of MLW Superstars- the newest MLW TV show!
Today's show features inter-promotional matches with wrestlers from all 3 MLW brands (RAW, Smackdown, and the EAWA) wrestling against each other with the brand of the winning wrestler for each match getting a draft pick from one of the other two brands!
Major League Wrestling (MLW) MLW Superstars Saturday May 23, 2009 The Major League Wrestling Arena Las Vegas, NV (First Third of show)
Match #1: Smackdown's MLW Champion George Hackenschmidt defeated RAW's World Champion Bruiser Brody and EAWA's EAWA Champion Antonino Rocca in a triple threat match to win a draft pick for Smackdown.
- The first match to ever take place on MLW Superstars was a big one featuring the top champions for all 3 MLW brands!
- This match ended when Rocca attempted a death jump against a downed Brody. But Hackenschmidt shoved Rocca off of the top turnbuckle and onto the arena floor and then proceeded to place Brody in his RUSSIAN BEARHUG which he used to pin Brody to the mat for the 3 count.
- As a result of Hackenschmidt winning the match, Smackdown was awarded a draft pick. Smackdown's Draft Pick: EAWA Champion Antonino Rocca
- As Hackenschmidt then turns to welcome Rocca back to Smackdown, the entrance music for EAWA General Manager the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase is played. Accompanied by King Kong Bundy and Virgil, DiBiase (who last weekend at Sin City Showdown during pay Per View Weekend lost his bid to win the EAWA Championship from Rocca) laughs and announces that Rocca has to forfeit the EAWA Championship due to getting drafted back to Smackdown. So the EAWA Championship is now vacant!
Match #2: RAW's MLW Tag Team Champions the Fabulous Kangaroos defeated Smackdown's World Tag Team Champions Johnny Valentine and Larry Zbyszko (both managed by Eddie Fyne) and EAWA's EAWA Tag Team Champions the Valiants in a tag team elimination match to win a draft pick for RAW.
- The winning brand for this match, featuring the tag team champions for all 3 MLW brands, would receive a draft pick for a tag team from one of the other 2 MLW brands.
- The Valiants were eliminated Al Costello pinned Johnny Valiant following the BOOMERANG.
- Valentine and Zbyszko were eliminated when Al Costello made Valentine tap out to his MARBLE BOR LEGLOCK. The Kangaroos thus won the match which meant RAW was awarded a tag team draft pick. RAW's Draft Pick: The Body Donnas (Tom Prichard and Chris Candido with Tammy) from the EAWA!
Match #3: Smackdown's United States Champion Rikidozan (managed by Eddie Fyne) defeated RAW's Intercontinental Champion The Sheik (managed by Abdullah Farouk) and EAWA's Brass Knuckles Champion The Crusher in a triple threat match to win a draft pick for Smackdown.
- This triple threat matchup featured the secondary champions for all 3 MLW brands who in their desire to win draft picks for their brands are sending their best wrestlers against one another.
- The Sheik appeared on the verge of winning this march after he hit The Crusher with a FIREBALL. But Rikidozan made the pin save and won the match a couple of moves later when he made The Sheik submit to his HIPLOCK.
- As a result of Rikidozan's victory, Smackdown was awarded a draft pick. Smackdown's draft pick: Bobo Brazil from RAW!
- With Brazil getting drafted to RAW, this means that MLW's most popular tag team the Brothers of Other Mothers (Brazil and Mil Mascaras), who won 2 of the first 3 Sammartino Invitationals, are getting broken up!
Match #4: Smackdown's Buddy Rogers (managed by Eddie Fyne) defeated RAW's Jimmy Snuka and EAWA's Bob Orton Sr. in a triple threat match to win a draft pick for Smackdown.
- This triple threat match pitted the most recent top champions for all 3 MLW brands against one another.
- Rogers won this match when he made Orton Sr. tap out to his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE.
- As a result of Rogers' victory, Smackdown wins another draft pick. Smackdown's Draft Pick: Ed "Strangler" Lewis from RAW!
End of First Third with Smackdown winning 3 draft picks (Rocca, Brazil, and Lewis, RAW winning one draft pick (the Body Donnas), and the EAWA winning no draft picks so far. Second Third will be posted next and includes Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, and the Road Warriors in action as all 3 MLW brands seek to acquire more draft picks!

Backstage: RAW General Manager Bob Backlund walks up to Nick Bockwinkel and Harley Race to tell them their matches are coming up next and he wants them to win so RAW can get some more draft picks.

Backlund responds that they (Bockwinkel and Race) both better try hard to win their matches tonight if they want another shot at the World Championship anytime soon.

Loved the main draft! I was surprised to see the EAWA get shut out of draft picks until the last two, although I suppose it wouldn't matter much since The Million Dollar Man could just buy more stars for the EAWA lol
Looking forward to see who else switches brands during the supplimental draft. Something tells me we will see more shake ups!

I really like my annual draft because it really shakes up Major League Wrestling by giving me many new matchup possibilities on all 3 of the MLW brands. The draft continues and concludes today!
